Happy New Year! Brother Knights to you and your families. I hope you had a wonderful finish to 2018 and lots of hopes and dreams for 2019. You and your Councils have made the last six months a success. Because of you our Chapter has truly put Faith into Action. Now that we have gotten the pace of things, the next six months will really show what our Councils can do. We must continue to remind ourselves of one very important thing, TIME. I can’t believe how fast the last six months have gone by and I know the next six have begun and TIME won’t wait for us to catch up. We can’t focus on what we could have done. We need to set our end goal, focus on it and work every day to achieve it. Speaking of Goals, the one true measurement of our success as a Council, Chapter, State or organization is membership. We all realize without new members our Order would not be 137 year old this year. Our Councils would not be 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100 years old. We as Council leaders must encourage recruitment, encourage participation of our members, look for and develop future leaders. A Council needs to recruit one new leader every year to keep movement through the chairs. So how do you find that one leader? You know him, you’ve seen him, you may have even asked him to join and he said no. The fact is we don’t know who will be that one leader. For that reason we must not be reluctant to ask each and every Catholic man to join the Knights of Columbus. (Continued on page 2)

January 2019 (Continued from page 1)
I know and maybe the same is true for you, I did not expect to be a leader in the Knights of Columbus. “It’s an experience of a lifetime”. My hope is by being a leader I am able to help you and your Council succeed. With that success we will gain new leaders, bring men back to the Church and all grow in our relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The time is now, not tomorrow, not next week, and defiantly not next month, now is the time to rally your Council to hold a membership drive, ask the men they celebrated Mass with during Thanksgiving and Christmas to join. Now is the time to be a “Saint Under Construction” a “fisher of men”, a leader. Praised be Jesus Christ>, Joe Corona Chapter President Knights of Columbus San Gabriel Valley Chapter
