The bandit was in alliance with the Germans! Bandit! The word was not strong enough! The fact that Quisling had taken power infuriated many. He was the most hated of all Norwegian politicians. A few years ago, he had a few thousand followers of his ideas. But after his real motives came to light and after his fanaticism and pure admiration of Adolf Hitler, there were only a few hundred who followed him. That's why Quisling's announcement was the reason why many thousands of Norwegian young people left Oslo in the following days."
Brandbu 10-20 April 1940
"Rubin is a 20-year-old blond Oslo boy. On 9 April, he had an interesting job in the fashion indu stry with a good salary. He had probably never cared about politics. No doubt he had heard of Hitler and the Nazis. But that was far away. For Rubin, Norway was a peaceful country that would manage to stay out of the war. Rubin was one of those who stood on a pavement on 9 April and wondered what he should do. After a few days, Rubin made up his mind and accepted the consequences of the German attack. Together with some friends, he stole a German car and bluffed his way through German controls. His hatred of Nazism was fanatical and he was eager to take part in the fight. Rubin carried out orders without grumbling. He was one of the many who would never give up the fight. It was as if he wanted to make up for his previous lack of interest in politics."
