IEVA BABILAITĖ Ieva Babilaitė is a prolific artist working across numerous fields. She creates prints and illustrations, organises exhibitions and projects, and regularly takes part in the educational programme “You Can Create a Book” at the “Land of Books” at Vilnius Book Fair. Fascinated with calligraphy, she uses handmade paper for her work. She has had over a dozen solo shows and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. q She has illustrated ten children’s books and has also written the text for the book Čiauškančios raidės (Chattering Letters, Žara Publishers, 2010). The book Ulė ir peliukas (Ulė and the Little Mouse, Tyto alba, 2005) received an award at Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Competition in 2005. The Lithuanian Section of IBBY recognized Vytautas V. Landsbergis’ Kiškis Pranciškus be abejo (Pranciškus the Hare, Without a Doubt, Dominicus Lituanus, 2011), which she illustrated, as the most artistic book of the year. Vaizdai iš gyvenimo bobulytės ir kt (Scenes from Granny’s Life and Other Adventures, Bernardinai.lt Publishers, 2012) was awarded first prize in Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Competition and also received an award from the Lithuanian Section of IBBY for the most beautifully illustrated book of poetry. Ieva Babilaitė est une artiste prolifique travaillant dans de nombreux domaines. Elle crée des gravures et des illustrations, elle organise également des expositions et des projets, et participe régulièrement au programme éducatif « Vous pouvez créer un livre » au Salon du livre de Vilnius. Fascinée par la calligraphie, elle utilise du papier fait main pour son travail. Elle a fait plus d’une douzaine d’expositions personnelles et participé à de nombreuses expositions collectives en Lituanie et à l’étranger. q Elle a illustré dix livres pour enfants et écrit aussi le texte du livre Čiauškančios raidės [Les lettres gazouillantes] (Žara, 2010). SIGUTĖ CHLEBINSKAITĖ Sigute Chlebinskaite is an award-winning book artist and illustrator who is currently the editorial designer at the Vilnius Academy of Arts publishing house. She has inspired and organised a number of projects dedicated to the promotion of book art both in Lithuania and abroad. She is also the initiator of the creative project “KNYGŲ ŠALIS ” (“The Land of Books ”) and its educational programme “You Can Create a Book” that has taken place at the Vilnius Book Fair since 2001. “You Can Create a Book” is a place for families to participate in creative workshops and book readings and to meet the creators of books both from Lithuania and abroad. In this education programme the history of the book is available to touch and experience, with clay and wax tablets, woodblocks, leporello books and pop-up picture books. Participants can learn the secrets of handmade paper and book binding, Braille, Morse code, sign language and take part in plenty of other activities. q Sigutė Chlebinskaitė has garnered top awards at Lithuanian and Baltic competitions for the Most Beautiful Books of the Year along with a host of other prizes. She has received the Ricochet-Jeunes Prix Octogone and was put on IBBY’s Honour List for her illustration debut Kas kiemely daros (What’s Outside, What’s Inside?, Gimtasis žodis, 2003), a poetry book by Kazys Jakubėnas. Kuosos Kro gyvenimas ir atvirkščiai (The Life of Kro the Jackdaw and Vice Versa, Versus aureus, 2011) won a diploma at Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Competition.

Sigutė Chlebinskaitė est une artiste, une designer et une illustratrice de livres primée qui est actuellement directrice artistique de la maison d’édition de l’Académie des Beaux-arts de Vilnius. Elle a inspiré et organisé un certain nombre de projets dédiés à la promotion de l’art du livre aussi bien en Lituanie qu’à l’étranger. Elle est également l’initiatrice du projet créatif « KNYGŲ ŠALIS » (« Terre des liv-res ») et du programme éducatif « Vous pouvez créer un livre » qui a lieu au Salon du livre de Vilnius depuis 2001. « Vous pouvez créer un livre » permet aux enfants de participer à des ateliers créatifs et des lectures de livres, et rencontrer les auteurs lituaniens et étrangers des livres pour enfants. TOMAS S. BUTKUS Tomas S. Butkus is a writer, architect, publisher, designer, and performance artist. In 1992 he founded Vario burnos, which is a workshop for developing design projects that also works as a publisher and interdisciplinary artist. Tomas S. Butkus has organised over two hundred artistic and publishing projects. He writes poetry and essays. He began writing children‘s literature after the birth of his daughter. The book Bumba Dumba ir visatos sukūrimas (Bumba Dumba and the Creation of the Universe, Vario burnos, 2012) is his debut in children’s literature, which was awarded a diploma of Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Competition, and was awarded by the Lithuanian Section of IBBY with a prize for most meaningful debut. Tomas S. Butkus est un écrivain, architecte, éditeur, designer et artiste de performance. En 1992, il a fondé Vario burnos, un atelier pour le développement de projets de design qui remplit également le rôle d’éditeur et dans les arts interdisciplinaires. Tomas S. Butkus a organisé plus de deux cents projets artistiques et d’édition. Il écrit de la poésie et des essais. Il a commencé à écrire de la littérature pour enfants après la naissance de sa fille. Le livre Bumba Dumba ir visatos sukūrimas [Bumba Dumba et la création de l’univers] (Vario burnos, 2012) est son premier livre dans la littérature pour enfants, il a reçu une récompense au Concours du plus beau livre de Lituanie et la section lituanienne d’ IBBY lui a été décerné le prix du premier livre le plus marquant.

LINA DŪDAITĖ Lina Dūdaitė is a freelance designer and illustrator. She has illustrated seven children’s books by Lithuanian and foreign authors. Her illustrations for the book Apie žuvėdrą ir katiną, kuris išmokė ją skraidyti (The Story of a Seagull and the Cat Who Taught Her to Fly, Nieko rimto, 2008) by Luis Sepulveda won a diploma at the 2009 Tallinn Illustration Triennial. For the same book, she was included on the IBBY Honour List in the illustrator category in 2010. Pasakos. Broliai Grimai (Brothers Grimm’s Fairy Tales, Alma littera, 2011) were selected by the Lithuanian section of IBBY as the most artistic book of the year and was included on the 2014 IBBY Honour List. It was also awarded the main prize in the category of children’s books of Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Competition. EGLĖ GELAŽIŪTĖ-PETRAUSKIENĖ Eglė Gelažiūtė-Petrauskienė is an illustrator for children‘s books and magazines. She creates prints, installations, video projects, and also designs book covers. She has illustrated over 20 children’s books, several textbooks and volumes of poetry for numerous publishers, with many of these recognized with diplomas and prizes. She resides in the UK .

KĘSTUTIS KASPARAVIČIUS Kęstutis Kasparavičius is a renowned Lithuanian illustrator and writer of children’s books. The world of his illustrations is familiar to children all over Europe, Asia, North and South America. He drew his first illustrations for children’s books in 1984, and since 1989 has worked with publishers in countries like Germany, Denmark, Greece, France, Mexico, the U. S., Taiwan and South Korea. He has gained widespread recognition for his illustrations of classic works by Hans Christian Andersen, Carlo Collodi, E. T. A. Hoffmann, G. A. Burger and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. q Kęstutis Kasparavičius‘ work is easily recognisable through the subtle colour scheme of his watercolour paintings, his drawing, and meticulously rendered detail, innovative and ingenious composition as well as witty humour. In 2003 saw his debut as a writer. He has an impressive list of more than 55 books that he has illustrated, ranging from world classics to contemporary authors and his own stories. His books have been translated into more than 25 languages. NOMEDA MARČĖNAITĖ Nomeda Marčėnaitė is a ceramic artist, public figure, charity project organizer and TV show host. She has given more than 50 solo exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, most of them in collaboration with artist Marius Jonutis. Her first written and illustrated book Lėlė (The Doll, Tyto alba, 2011) was recognized as the most significant debut in children’s literature by the Lithuanian Section of IBBY and was awarded a diploma in the category of Children’s and Young Adults’ Literature at Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Competition. She was also awarded the Patriot Prize for Lėlė. Nomeda Marčėnaitė est une artiste céramiste, personnalité publique, organisatrice de projets caritatifs et animatrice de télévision. Elle a organisé plus de 50 expositions personnelles en Lituanie et à l’étranger, la plupart en collaboration avec l’artiste Marius Jonutis. Son premier livre écrit et illustré Lėlė [La Poupée] (Tyto alba, 2011) a été reconnu comme le premier livre le plus marquant en littérature pour enfants par la section lituanienne d’ IBBY et il a obtenu une récompense dans la catégorie « Littérature pour enfants et jeunes adultes » au Concours du plus beau livre de Lituanie. EVALDAS MIKALAUSKIS Evaldas Mikalauskis is a graphic artist, book illustrator, as well as a teacher of drawing and graphic art. Since 1990, he has taken part in over 50 exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. He has illustrated three children’s book and around 10 textbooks and teaching aids for pupils and parents. The book Nojaus arka (Noah’s Ark, Bokartas, 2011) was awarded a diploma at Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Competition. For his illustrations for the same book he garnered the Algirdas Steponavičius Prize, named after the founding father of Lithuanian book illustration, at the Book Art Exhibition in 2012. Evaldas Mikalauskis est un artiste graphiste, un illustrateur de livres ainsi qu’un professeur de dessin et d’art graphique. Depuis 1990, il a pris part à plus de 50 expositions en Lituanie et à l’étranger. Il a illustré trois livres pour enfants et environ dix manuels et matériel didactique pour les élèves et les parents. Le livre Nojaus arka [L’Arche de Noé] a reçu une récompense au Concours du plus beau livre de Lituanie. Pour ses illustrations de ce livre, le Prix Algirdas Steponavičius, classique de l’illustration lituanienne, lui a été décerné au Salon de l’art du livre en 2012.

Rimantas Rolia is a designer and graphic artist who works in poster art and animation, and is also an internationally recognized book illustrator. He has illustrated ten children’s books, which have been published in Lithuania, the UK (Hutchinson) and the US (Alfred A. Knopf). He has taken part in international illustration exhibitions in Italy, France, Japan, the US and Portugal, and has been twice selected to participate in the Illustrators Exhibition organised by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. He has received the Kyoto International Cartoon Exhibition Prize in 2000, 2002 and 2004, and two diplomas at Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Competition for his illustrations for Martynas Vainilaitis’ book Mauliukas (Kronta, 2009) and his recent book Žiemos išdaigos (Winter Frolicking, Alma littera, 2012).

Rimantas Rolia est un designer et un artiste graphiste qui travaille dans l’art de l’affiche et l’animation. Il est également un illustrateur de livres internationalement reconnu. Il a illustré dix livres pour enfants publiés en Lituanie, au Royaume-Uni (Hutchinson) et aux États-Unis (Alfred A. Knopf). KAROLIS STRAUTNIEKAS Karolis Strautniekas is a freelance creative illustrator. He works in book illustration, advertisement, animation and graphic design and is co-founder of Wowbüro, a multidisciplinary platform bringing together artists with different creative backgrounds. He has participated in group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, and has also put on one solo show. His work has been featured in different Lithuanian and foreign publications (including KABINETT magazine, Luerzer’s Archive, Wired, The Independent, Creative Review, El País, DuJour, Usbek & Rica, and Tænk magazine among others). Karolis Strautniekas est un illustrateur créatif indépendante. Il travaille dans l’illustration de livres, la publicité, l’animation et le design graphique. Il est aussi le co-fondateur de Wowbüro, une plate-forme multidisciplinaire réunissant des artistes avec des horizons créatifs différents. His book Pirštinė (The Glove, Versus aureus, 2013) was recognized by the Lithuanian Section of IBBY as the Best Book of 2013. It has also garnered a prize at the Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Competition. LINA ŽUTAUTĖ Lina Žutautė is a book author and illustrator who has written and illustrated seven children’s books. Her book Kakė Makė ir Netvarkos nykštukas (Googoo Moogoo and Elf the Mess, Alma littera, 2010) was awarded by the Lithuanian Section of IBBY as the Best Book of the Year, while her book Ferdinandas ir Pū (Ferdinand and Paw, Alma littera, 2012) was awarded a diploma at Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Competition and was also included on the 2014 IBBY Honour List. Four of her books have been published in Russian (by Moscow-based publishers Clever Media and Ast) as well as two books in Danish (Lamberth Publishers) and one in Latvian (by Riga based publisher Zvaigzne). She has illustrated over a dozen books by other writers, including textbooks and teaching aids for schools that have been published in Lithuania (Alma littera, Nieko rimto, Šviesa), Russia (Alosha Dmitrijev, Pro koshek i myshek, Moscow: Clever Media, 2011) and Spain (Darabuc, A partes iquales, Pontevedra: OQO editora, 2012).

Lina Žutautė est une auteure et illustratrice de livres qui a écrit et illustré sept livres pour enfants. Son livre Kakė Makė ir Netvarkos nykštukas [Kakė Makė et le Nain du désordre] (Alma littera, 2010) a été récompensé par la section lituanienne d’IBBY comme le meilleur livre de l’année, tandis que son livre Ferdinandas ir Pū [Ferdinand et Pū] (Alma littera, 2012) a reçu une récompense au Concours du plus beau livre de Lituanie, et il a également été inscrit sur la Liste d’honneur d’IBBY en 2014.
