DAY CAMPS FALL CAMPS

Girls Volleyball League (8-14 years)

Using Pullback Car Frenzy’s kits, campers will get the opportunity to solve and use creative thinking to build these vehicles. Students will build a different car each day and explore the concepts and laws of gravity and energy. Campers will be able to take one of their builds home with them at the end of the week.

This recreation league is perfect if you are just learning the game of volleyball, or need to perfect your skills as you get ready to try out for your local school team. Fun and learning are emphasized over competition in this league. Participants will be split into two age groups; 8-10 & 11-14. This league will be a “social” (friends play with friends) league and we will do our best to keep teams distributed in that manner. Teams will have one practice a week and games will be played on Saturdays. Participation awards will be given at the end of the season. Participants who want their child to “play up” (older age division) must coach. VOLUNTEER COACHES ARE NEEDED FOR EACH TEAM. *There is an additional $10 late registration fee after the deadline.

AQUATICS

American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim

Lifeguard Course

The American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program teaches people how to be safe in, on or around water and to teach individuals of different ages and abilities how to swim. In a logical progression, the program covers the knowledge and skills needed for aquatic skill development. As participants develop these skills, they will become safer and better swimmers.

Group Swim Lessons The Keller Pointe offers four of the six comprehensive levels, through the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program, that teach people of varying ages and abilities how to swim skillfully and safely. Each level includes training in basic water safety. All aquatic and safety skills are taught in a logical progression. The objective is to teach people to swim and to be safe in, on and around the water. The four levels that are offered include: o Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills o Level 2: Fundamental Aquatic Skills

The purpose of the American Red Cross Waterpark Lifeguarding Course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. This course will also provide the necessary training in order to operate an AED and Oxygen equipment. PARTICIPANTS MUST ATTEND ALL CLASS SESSIONS.

Prerequisites: 1. Must be 15 years of age on or before the final scheduled class date. 2. Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both. Swim Goggles may be used. 3. Candidates must be able to tread water for 2 minutes using only their legs. 4. Complete the following timed event within I minute and 40 seconds. a. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles may not be used. b. Surface dive, feet first or head first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object. c. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face near the surface so that they are able to take a breath. Candidates should not swim the distance under water. Exit the water without use of a ladder or steps.
