Bay Area Comics: Drawing from Life

Did you know that artists from the Bay Area are credited with dramatic shifts in the comic book art form? The region’s comic book scene is diverse and vibrant. Join us for a crash course in comic book history with cartoonist Justin Hall and for live, illustrated storytelling from Bay Area artists Rina Ayuyang, Fred Noland and Julia Wertz. Plus, KQED will host a mini zine and comics fest after the event.

Join us at The Walt Disney Family Museum for Disney Cats & Dogs and explore the innovation of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ animal-inspired animation storytelling through the decades. Experience the evolution behind beloved characters such as Pluto, the Cheshire Cat, Duchess, Lucifer and others through more than 300 reproduced artworks, including animation drawings, sketches, paintings and more.
