THE UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA BANNED SMOKING ON GOVT ORDERS THAT, IT SEEMS, NEVER EXISTED JAYLEE GERTSE MANAGING EDITOR jayleegertse@gmail.com

THE UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA told students and staff they could face disciplinary action if caught smoking on its grounds. At first it said this was due to a notice from the government. Then it said it had acted on a statement, to the media, by the spokesperson for the minister of higher education. That

spokesperson was quoted as saying government's coronavirus command council had issued the decree. He now says he was misquoted, and that the depar tment "is not aware of any information around this issue" of a smoking ban. businessinsider.com

PAPER MENUS AND NO POURING OF DRINKS: HERE'S HOW OCEAN BASKET RESTAURANTS WILL CHANGE AS RESTAURANTS WAIT for government to give them a date (and rules) to re-open, eateries like Ocean Basket have already put in place new measures to fight the spread of Covid-19. This includes disposable paper menus and a ban on waiters pouring drinks. Patrons can also expect temperature checks. Inside Ocean Basket restaurants, customers will sit 1.5 metres away from each other, and

temperature checks, hand washing and sanitising facilities will be available in restaurants. Ocean Basket customers can also expect to pour their own drinks from cans or other sealed bottled containers. This is to ensure that waiters do not lean over customers and their food, says Harding. businessinsider.com

HOW SOUTH AFRICAN HOUSEHOLDS ARE CURRENTLY TRYING TO SAVE MONEY SOUTH AFRICANS are increasingly worried about paying their bills, as the coronavirus pandemic hits their income. The majority of households have been forced to change their budgets in response. Cancelling memberships and subscriptions has been one of their first options. The majority of South Africans are worried about paying their bills amid the coronavirus crisis - and their household budgets are starting to reflect

that, according to a recent survey by SA's largest credit bureau, TransUnion. "Although the lockdown restrictions are starting to ease, the pandemic continues to create major economic and financial distress for the South African economy and consumers alike," says Lee Naik, chief executive officer of TransUnion Africa. businessinsider.com

A time, where you certainly have to do a thorough background check on who you call your lover, because your blood might just stain his hands. We live in a time, where paranoia seem to be our constant, and spaces that captured beauty and laughter previously now become a threat. A concern is the fact that a lot of the conversations got stuck at responding to the event, injustice or system glitch. Little has been done to tend to these wounds or address the trauma of systemic mismanagement. We should get to a point where we prioritise healing and address the toxic spaces.

VERLORE DOGTER BY Corrin-Lee Adams

In 'n wêreld waar sonde fees vier het ek gedwaal, So lui die inleiding van my verhaal. Ek was verlore en verlate, my maag leeg, hart gebreek en my siel vol gate. Na 'n vrugtelose soektog en uitputtende gedwaal Keer ek terug tuis, waar my Pa my soos ’n Koninglike onthaal.

Lance: I actually wanted to ask you last night, how long is your stay? Melvin: Well, this is why I’m here. I decided to spend as much time with you as I possibly can. You’re a busy man and ILance: Uncle Mel, get to the point. (chuckles) Melvin: Fiona and I… we’ve been married for almost three years now and it seems that we just can’t make it work. We thought we would… we thought we’d grow old… older, together. But-

THE ENEMY, NIGHTLIFE AND GOD For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favour and honour; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. Lord Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you. Psalms 84:11-12 NIV

content, time is not on our side, circumstances can change in an instant. We either move onto greater things or we don't move forward at all. Every moment that we share is in honour of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who laid down His life for us. Read (John 3:16). As believers it is vital that we understand God's plan for our lives, What His plan is for all His people. It is only revealed through His word. I have reached a smooth sailing point on my journey, everything seemed good and

wrong or disobey? Through my experience I can see that it’s because the serpent (Satan) convince us or expose us to worldly desires, planting questions and thoughts

into our

minds, causing doubt which in turn contributes to leading us away from what God wants for us. We don’t have to look very far to acknowledge this truth, it is biblical and evident across the world. Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in

rewarding yourself does not mean you have to go out and act irresponsibly. I am specifically pointing this out because when things go well for us we become comfortable, when we are comfortable it’s as though we have our guards down, this causes us to be vulnerable towards different things or people who can influence us in ways that could be detrimental to our bodies, careers and future. Now I wish I could speak about an exciting lifestyle, living the night life of Jozi, fortunately for me I have never ventured into that part. It was indeed easy to enjoy the

want or what you perceive. GOD established a covenant with us, not us with Him. He is faithful to keep his side, what about us? Are we able to keep our side? Without faith it is impossible to please God. My Faith is in Jesus Christ who shaped me into who I am today. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? Luke 9:25 NIV The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. There are many who failed to compose themselves and were led astray by choosing to satisfy themselves and not even consider God.
