Established company with modern production

A reliable supplier to the Swedish as well as the international engineering industry market. AB POD offers a complete solution for customers and handle everything from ideas to finished product. In our production we have the tools to effectively offer our customers different products and services. We produce and supply everything from the most basic little metal piece to advanced assembled products. THE HISTORY of POD begins in a barn in

Kristdala Småland 1946. The company was then named Press- och Dragdetaljer, Söderbäck & co and produced sheet metal toys and kerosene stoves. Among others a toy boat became a hit seller – we produced around 300 000 of them. AT THE start of the 1950s came the next

OUR BRAND POD is still associated with

our legendary kerosene stoves, but today we are more known as a reliable subcontractor within advanced sheet metal work. Our customers exist mostly within the Swedish engineering industry and our strength lies in our ability to deliver custom made solutions for the needs of different fields. AB POD continues to run the constant

volution of the operation in traditional e family spirit. From the days when Erik, Eskil and Valter Svensson who together with Gösta Söderbäck started the company to today’s owners, our focus has always been to offer high quality solutions and to build long lasting relations with our customers. We are proud of our history and are looking forward to an even more exciting future with you as our partners.

big hit – the kerosene stove. The Svensson brothers who founded the company produced their stove after an English publisher and it soon sold out over the entire world. TODAY AFTER soon 80 years, our opera-

tion has evolved and grown and now go by AB POD. Even if we no longer focus on toys and stoves as our main produce, we have managed to keep and build upon the priceless knowledge and experience that we have gathered throughout the years in manufacturing sheet metal forming techniques.

VISION AB POD is aiming to be leading in the sheet metal industry with a minimal environmental footprint. MIKAEL SVENSSON, CEO

Effective processes with clever solutions

Within the production industry effectivity and precision lay out the roundwork for successful production. It is important to use carefully g put together processes and methods to create products of high quality and to meet the high requirements for resilience and functionality. The six work areas bellow make up the backbone in our production. By putting together and optimising the stages within each workspace we manage to reach high performance and satisfy the customers’ demands.

Modern tools department THE TOOL department constructs the

Construction that solves problems

tools and fixtures for die-cutting, forming, bending, assembly and welding. To our aid we have modern tools like gnist and automatic milling machines to help us keep many tool parts in production simultaneously.

OFTEN THE customers ask us about

construction through a blueprint or model base. The challenge for us is to cleverly and resource-sparingly create the product in serial production. We like challenges! PROTOTYPES ARE often created

with the help of 3D-printing to see the products functions and performance. Not seldom also to speed up a smaller pre-production before the production tools are completed to give the customer the best possible quotation proposal. Construction is often made in direct cooperation with our customers. We draw and construct everything from pressing tools to fixtures in a modern CAD-environment.

Pressing with high capacity IN OUR pressing workshop we have

several automatic-, hydraulic and manual eccentric presses. Thanks to this machine park we’re able to produce different types of c omponents in most common metals.

THE PRESSING capacity in our machines lies from 10 tonnes up to 300 tonnes. The press-tables are up to 2 200 mm which makes it possible to do automatic pressing of more complicated products and components.

Effective assembly with high quality We offer assembly of components to all our subgroups or finished products that later can be packaged and sent directly to the end-user.

High competence in welding THE WELDING department is

Wide offer of surface treatment MANY OF the details that are

roduced by us are going to have p some kind of surface treatment. We use a vibration polishing drum including washing and drying, a rotation polishing drum and alkaline basket washing. The polishing can be used in multiple steps to reach desired result for different metals. WE ALSO take care of multiple

hemical surface treatments and c heat treatments through a network of external suppliers.

among more made up by robotic welding (CMT), seam welding, press welding, TIG welding and manual MIG w elding in stainless, hot- or cold-welded aluminium and copper. They also perform hard and soft soldering on most of the materials mentioned.

ore than just pretty words. At AB POD we take our e ngagement for sustainability and environment to measurable results. With investment at premises as well as personnel we create a solid change from a desire to do the right thing. Here you can read about and be inspired from the important steps we have taken at our journey towards greatly reduced climate impact. SUSTAINABILITY IS an effort that in the

long run shall permeate everything we do at AB POD. Our promise is to stay ahead of f uture demands to be able to offer the safest production possible with as little effect on the climate as possible as well as increase our societal engagement f urther. The goal is to become climate-neutral for real and not only to compensate for today’s emissions but also for earlier emissions. We understand that

the world demands a more sustainable production and that is why we are proud to say that we are well living up to that demand. We aren’t beginners and have for many years sought to accomplish a lot with little, both with energy and emissions. Nor are we going to be satisfied with what we’ve accomplished, instead we see a massive, continued potential to change and improve our and societies environmental footprint. Our company culture is strongly based in the principles of working smarter and more sustainable. WHEN YOU choose AB POD as your partner

you not only get first class products and service – you are choosing a partner with a deeply rooted environmental ambition and focus towards a cost effective operation of premises and production operation. We look forward to working together with you to help create a better and more sustainable future.

Current sustainability endeavors PERFORMED 2020-2023

n 100% LED-lighting in the operation. n Additional isolation of the roofs. n Switched to electric forklifts. n Switched to energy windows. n Geothermal cooling through ventilation to rooms and server-room.

n Moved to powerful radiators in the operation to reduce heat pump parameters. n Differently scheduled times for start of compressors, ventilation and other electricity driven hardware.

Historical sustainability efforts PERFORMED IN 2010-2019

n Investment in control systems for ventilation, heating and compressors. n Newly adapted condenser bank to effectively avoid peaks. n Frequency controlled motors and modern control systems to main machines. n Increased fuse from 315 Amps to 200 Amps. n Ventilation with recycling.

Loading and unloading with electric truck.

Sustainability promises We take responsibility for developing our employees

We take responsibility for creating a more equal workplace

We take responsibility for our energy use

We are a responsible employer

Some of our priorities

Milestones 7-2 Explore opportunities for electricity production through study visits, different suppliers, collaborations and more.

Milestones 12-6 We need to communicate our work in sustainable development to all our stakeholders in order to be a role model for ourselves and others and drive development within the industry.

Milestones13-3 We must ensure that we use as little energy as possible throughout our operations, economize on our resources and become self-sufficient in cases where we have the opportunity to increase our opportunities for investments in other areas.
