Since 2022, I have been drawing pictures of the feelings I get from meditation, nature, music, and encounters with people, and posting them on Instagram. It is difficult to express feelings in words, but I can do it with pictures. I have loved drawing pictures since I was a child. Dragons give people energy and messages and change their minds for the better. I wish everyone can be themselves.

THROUGH THE EYES OF ANXIETY

ART ‘23

Paxton is a surrealist artist who believes in working grounded and captivating art with the goal of raising awareness of mental health. Each work seeks to interpret different psychological disorders and aspects that accompany them so that those who experience them can feel identified and provoke a feeling of empathy and understanding in the viewer. The artist does not seek to filter, but to expose the raw and beautiful of being different, so that those who experience it realize that they are not alone, that God is not wrong and that by accepting ourselves we can come to love each other completely. Paxton is creative, responsive, and not afraid to take risks, as a result, this surreal artist is a creator, a curator, and all it takes to spread the message of self-love and self-esteem.

OUMAIMA CHOUA IS A SELF-TAUGHT ARTIST OF MOROCCAN HERITAGE WHO WAS BORN IN THE NETHERLANDS. HER HYPERREALISTIC PORTRAITS EXPLORE THE PSYCHOLOGY OF HER SUBJECTS BY PORTRAYING THEM ON LARGE CANVASSES. CHOUA HAS CRAFTED HER STYLE OVER MANY YEARS, EXPERIMENTING WITH SHAPES, TEXTURES, TONES AND DIFFERENT MEDIUM.

USING HER PREFERRED MEDIUM OF GRAPHITE AND CHARCOAL, CHOUA USES HER LARGE SCALE WORKS TO EVOKE THE EMOTIONS, THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS OF HER SUBJECTS WHILST CAPTURING THE ESSENCE OF THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE. HER STRIKING USE OF LIGHT AND TONE IMMORTALISE THE FIGURES IN HER WORK, GIVING THEM AN ETHEREAL QUALITY. OFTEN BARE SKINNED AND IN DRAMATIC POSES, EACH WORK TELLS A STORY OF NOT ONLY THE CREATIVE PROCESS BUT THE ARTIST’S OWN CONNECTION WITH THE FIGURES SHE RECREATES.

FOR OUMAIMA CHOUA, DRAWING HAS BEEN A PART OF HER HER WHOLE LIFE. AS A CURIOUS AND OBSERVANT YOUNGSTER, CHOUA LOVED TO EXPLORE THE COLOURS AND SHAPES FOUND IN HER SURROUNDINGS. ON THE BLANK PAGE HER IMAGINATION RUNS WILD. In a world full of discomfort, hardships and challenges, we often find ourselves broken, lost and exhausted of life. Yet we keep on fighting, never giving up.

Trying to break free from our mind but failing to do so. Failing to realize our power and potential. Blinded by our insecurities and fears. Those that hold us back, often are not as scary as we make them to be. A constant fight against our own limiting thoughts here breaking free seems vimpossible. A constant cycle of self-sabotage

“When I first heard Rih was launching lingerie, my first thought was GAME CHANGER. If it was going to be anything like Fenty Beauty, I knew for sure that it would be inclusive of everyone. This bra is definitely better than other’s I’ve tried. When I put the bra on, I felt sexy and confident. A lot of lace bras don’t give me the support I need, being that I am plus size and have a fuller bust, but one thing I really liked about the bra was the underwire which provided me with support.”

CONFESSIONS

“As someone who rarely wears bras, especially not underwire, I was genuinely surprised at how comfortable and supportive the bra was! These bras are truly made for the female form and there is no compromising between wanting to look and feel your best. Even the most comfortable of fitting bras have tiny details that make you feel sexy and beautiful. There is no exaggeration here: Rih has done it again!” “When I heard Rihanna was launching a lingerie collection a light bulb went on over my head. I thought, ‘Oh I see, Rihanna wants all the money in my bank account, not just a little!’

TREE OF WISHES

I’m an entrepreneur, interior designer, model, artist and a new mom. I’m obsessed with fashion. Biggi is my name and fashion is my game Currently I’m commuting between Germany, Poland, North Macedonia, and the UAE. I’m a workaholic and art to me is my vent to destress and to express myself creatively. I started to paint in 2009 after a tragic death of my beloved father. At first it was like a therapy to me. So I dived in to the world of art and tried to process my loss. I wanted to follow my father’s advice who told me in my early years to live life to the fullest, to enjoy it and to never look back! To me, art became an expression of my soul. My paintings are full of positive vibes that radiate pure beauty, passion and joy. In a fast-living world full of black & white and a whole lot of grey in between, I’d like to look beyond and discover the beautiful colors of the world and that are within my soul. Realizing how beautiful and gracious the world is.

“KISS OF LOVE” BIGGI VRGOV

I usually start to paint when others go to sleep. That’s where my mind is the clearest and when the creativity gets the very best of me. I let my thoughts and feelings run wild and free when I do the canvas dance. Whether by brush or hand, when I paint, I feel this special connection with the canvas and can feel each and every line that I create. It’s as if it speaks to me. The result of each painting is like an adventure to me! My passion for what I do, and my optimistic nature is always reflected in my work.

Each day I enjoy the sweetness of life and that’s where my inspiration comes from: From the love that surrounds me and the wonderful people I meet on my journey. Love is everything. To me life without love is equivalent to a burger without ketchup. My aspiration with each painting that I create is that it will meet you high spirited and put a big smile onto your face - no matter how stressful the day I hope that my paintings will bring luck, satisfaction, and pure joy. May it bring out the sparkle in your soul and remind you what a miracle you are.

15

RONIEL LLERENA

My creations are focused on reflecting everything that worries me and surrounds me. I look for inspiration in my personal experiences that are intertwined with the problems and contradictions of the society where I develop. My work is the result of a deep personal reflection that does not have a single starting point, but is fed by the beauty and human needs, the female figure, the ruined cities and their buildings, ships as a symbol of change and transformation, the sky that invokes transcendence and seascapes that carry my dreams, energies and hopes. As an artist, I always strive to surpass myself and look for new ways to interact with the viewer, showing the living part of my memories, so that the viewer can complete or transform the work with his interpretation and admiration. I describe myself as a constant perfectionist of my work to which I feel extremely committed. Part of this creative process and personal and professional evolution is closely related to the teaching of art; of drawing and painting to others. This I develop as part of a community workshop for young people in the community who are nourished by my experience and allow me to understand and interact with new realities. Throughout my artistic career, I have been able to develop and work with dissimilar materials, formats, techniques and styles. However, surrealism has been my passion since it has allowed me to build my own parallel world, alien to reality but part of it, where I can create and transmit sensations about the world around me. My greatest aspiration is that my work can make people reflect and contribute to break schemes, not only in Cuba but also internationally. To occupy a place inside the spectators and captivate them beyond social, religious and cultural barriers is my imminent challenge.

THOMAS MAES INTERVIEWED BY ALESSYA SCHACHER

What is contemporary art for you?

Contemporary art always makes you really look at the world and the changes taking place in our time. It opens everyone’s eyes to current problems, solutions, ideas and most importantly it inspires.

The art world is changing, and as an art consultant, what can you say?

Always changed and will never stop changing. In addition, over the past 10 years, entirely new forms of art and means of expression have emerged thanks to the digital age. Digital art, virtual art and art marketing have fully opened up thanks to digitalization. Therefore, nowadays the vision of the artist can be seen everywhere and everywhere. This gives all artists the opportunity to be in the public eye and make money from their work. Something that the old masters didn’t have, but that they would love to get in their own time. Of course, for curators, art dealers, it has also become a great search for quality, hundreds of thousands of new talents that need to be understood, their value determined and what mission their art carries, what they are talking about.

Which art is more profitable to buy and why?

Old masters and recognized artists, of course, are always a stable investment. But, when it comes to new talents, it is important to always look at the quality of technology, Goals and VISION behind the work. Even digital works today, if there is a quality medium, a well-delivered technique with intelligence behind it, it is a growing work of art.

An art consultant is a very interesting job, but I would be very interested to know how you connect an artist with a buyer?

Every work of art, every artist has a collector. It’s all about the collector’s knowledge and the artist’s work to find the right match. As an art dealer and artist representative, it is important to know the artist well, his/her vision, biography, and every work it has become. Every collector must somehow find his “I” in the work. However, a representative or manager can only explain in general terms and project this onto the collector.

Most of the collectors we meet have come from the world of industry, banking, or celebrities. To achieve this requires years of communication, participation in many areas and in many countries. Something that also never stops. I personally prefer to arrange private evenings for the artist or artists, with dinner, music, in a beautiful place, thus creating a friendly and personal atmosphere. Thus, I bring the artist and collectors closer together. Even just an event for one evening with great care, inviting a few collectors and a few artists with different styles of work corresponding to the personalities and interests of potential collectors. Such a meeting of the artist and the collector creates a better and lasting bond.

What are the trends in the sale and purchase and Have you been observing the bits and conditions lately? All areas are for sale, but thanks to the internet, the popularity of contemporary art is growing, as well as new mediums such as digital art, NFT.

What advice would you give to contemporary artists so that they can get to the exhibition?

From my point of view, it is important to have quality work, behind which there is a VISION. This deuce always brings each artist individuality, a unique signature. Of course, a resume with this is a good thing to have to write and properly format.

Not all artists have their own art managers, but do they all want to sell their work? As an expert, what advice would you give them so they can sell them?

There is no urgent need to have an art manager, especially at the beginning of an artist’s journey. It is important to create a good resume, quality work and get representation in quality galleries with a successful track record.

CHEN I-CHUN

BIOGRAPHY

Chen I-Chun was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1992. Since childhood, she has had a wide range of interests. She often thought about what she wanted to do when she grew up, but she never had an answer, because the answer was always changing. She once made up her mind to be an artist but felt lost. After several explorations, she established her goal, realised that what she loves the most is still wandering among art, and then continued to create. In primary school, she entered art class and learned various painting skills and calligraphy. Although she also studied in art class in junior high school, she began to feel tired of the still-life paintings. She started to learn oil painting in senior high school and did a lot of creation and research that she had never done before. She studied Italian and German in university and gained a lot of knowledge of language and culture. In the postgraduate period, she turned to archaeology to learn research methods and study humanity and history. These processes have established the cultivation of art and created the foundation for creation.

ART STATEMENT

Art to me is a process of exploration and thinking. In this process, I can explore the changes in colour and shape, and think about the distance between dream and reality.

Through the performance of colours at different times and the rhythm of shapes in different spaces, I observe what feelings they give to people in the paintings.

Dreams can express reality in a certain distant time and space. Through the transformation of dreams, the former reality becomes another kind of reality.

LIN SHIH-HSIUNG

Lin Shih-Hsiung was born in Yilan, Taiwan in 1961. He has loved art and literature since he was a child and read many literary works such as Shakespeare and Don Quijote in secondary school, which laid the foundation for his future artistic creation. When he was an adult, he was forced to engage in photography and design-related work due to economic and environmental pressures, but he has continued to devote himself to the creation of art. He remembered that when he was young, he travelled to Hualien with his parents, saw the magnificence of the Taroko Gorge, and was amazed by its majesty. In the past two decades, he often went to Taroko to sketch. Combining the texture of rocks, and the turbulence of rivers with his understanding, he created one after another fantastic painting.

Taroko, one of Taiwan’s national parks, is named after the Taiwanese indigenous people who settled here—the Taroko people. With winding trails, piercing crags, lush forests, tranquil valleys and serene scenery, Taroko is famous for its gorges and cliffs. It is ethereal but imposing. It is profound but majestic.

ART STATEMENT

For me, art is an understanding of life transformed from the contact and feeling in life. This kind of understanding comes from informal thinking, so the paintings are rich in fantastic, odd and dreamlike scenes. Its style has rich colours and bold lines. Compositional perspectives transcend spatial experience. Let the thinking run on the canvas and flow in the real space field at the same time.

The day I decided to paint, I had one wish. It was a strong desire to ‘present a picture’. I wanted to make you happy by giving you the best of what I have.Beyond just making you happy, I wanted to congratulate you on being born into this world and bless your future. What picture can contain my wish? What is the ‘good thing’ that makes people happy? To find out, I looked into myself, my oldest friend. Reminds me of the world I love. Something beautiful to look at. Something tasty and fragrant. Warm or cool. Tranquil rest, good and loving hearts. After the trip in memory, I made up my mind. I want to go on a picnic with you. On a beautiful day, I will spread out the presents I picked myself on a quiet hill. I hope you will be happy to receive it. When the painting is complete, I pray. To be loved the way you are.

DYLAN WILSON

look at the world around me and wonder what things means. Like my project High Hopes was a mirror image of the feeling of reflection, mindfulness, and growth. I created my works as a way of truth, love and entity to give back to people who feel lost. Over the years of my life of creativity, there were many phases I’ve gone through. As a kid anytime I’m given homework, or a test. I never been hesitated to keep drawing anything on paper that would come to mind. A tree, a house, people, bridges, cars, to etc.

APHRODITE LIVES HERE

Hi, my name Is Dylan Wilson. I am a freelance spiritual/visionary artist. Who works towards understanding meaning and questions to myself, and uses them with colors to express them. My works involve my deep meanings of philosophy and psychology. I ask myself a lot of questions when I

My techniques to making my art are simple. I have a sketchbook that I have, so just in case I won’t forget to put an idea down. Also, a way I’ve helped myself was performing a way of opening my Subconscious mind when I make my art. like to be very blunt about how I feel, and put the ideas down anyway. Music helps I play guitar as well, but also to do things, that I’ve never done before helps me come up with more ideas. It keeps my mind calm. So, my message about what my art is about, is growth and truth. Not just me as a person, but to others as well. The main focus is be calm. Let go, Chill

EXPERIENCE OF THE ALTERNATIVES

JIRÍ OSTRY

A central concept in her art works is mirages, or what can also be described as a fake utopia, a space plagued by issues. She sculpts the dystopian interior scenery of a delusional sphere – a representation of the mirage, which is defined as an invisible and intangible element. The sphere includes an imperialistic feudal society, with the various hierarchical systems embodied by quadrangular pyramids. The artist is also featured in the fake documentaries, reflecting on diverse social issues related to the legacy of imperialism. Approaching matters from the perspective of a Japanese female, she expounds on the problems giving rise to friction and hatred between neighbouring countries. Starting with her country and going through political and geopolitical factors, she projects them into her works. Using experimental and interactive techniques, the artist highlights and sculpts various ‘mirages’ caused by the essence of imperialism introduced to her country, the effects of its heritage on contemporary society, and the accompanying principles of imperialism from a global perspective (such as capitalism, anthropocentrism, and ethnocentrism).

ELIZABETH COLAZO

ENRICA TOCE

Elizabeth Colazo, Figurative-Realist Artist, of Argentine nationality. Born in 1974 Jesus Maria, Cordoba, at the time said in a town where the tranquility and simple life is what she treasured the most in her being, as well as the connection to nature. In her works you can travel to the vast world of everyday life, her representations are full of inner growth where the spiritual world is reflected in her artistic expression. She got involved with art 30 years ago in a drawing and painting atelier, later she carried out commercial art and design ventures in her country in which she participated in individual and collective exhibitions in Jesús María, Córdoba, Argentina.

FRAGANCIAS

Since I was a child I have shown curiosity and interest in drawing. Also fascinated by the natural sciences, I graduated in Geological Sciences and Technologies, and then I obtained a second level master’s degree in Petroleum Geoscience. Out of my need for inner research, I approached painting at a certain point, which allowed me to express myself in an authentic way. As in my scientific studies, also in painting I have an experimental approach and continuous research of new techniques and color combinations. My abstractcontemporary paintings are made using a mixed technique. In painting I’m constantly evolving as are my emotions, I let myself be guided by my life experiences, by my introspective and spiritual journey, trying to convey an always positive message. Art for me is freedom.

KOMATSU RIKAKO KRIS KIRWAN

“About what it is to be human and what is our truth” In my teaching to children, I keep asking myself what it means to be human, what my mission is, and what the truth is. The truth common to human beings is learned through the growth of children. Children grow up fast And our lives are short. What should we learn in that time?

ROOTED TOGETHER

Kris Kirwan is Lithuanian born Irish artist. Her technique is quite peculiar. It requires patience, discipline and preparation. It perfectly reflects her true character and belief that every dot is equally important and significant. She believes in a concept that a visual form consists of dots, the same way each of us consists of thoughts, feelings, events and unique experiences. Her paintings might look quite minimalistic, with plain backgrounds and fewer details, however, it provokes the viewer to look deeper and closer to find hundreds of thousands tiny dots. Geometrical and circular (mandala) elements symbolise perfection and orderly chaos that nature has created.

MEG TAYHE MUNSAMY

I became interested in art a year ago at the urging of a Japanese painter. My whereabouts and other information is currently kept private I believe that different colors exist in the same everyday scenery. Therefore, when I paint flowers, I use alcohol ink, which cannot be used to paint the same piece. When taking photos, we sometimes shoot in the same location to capture the changing seasons. I hope to express my questions and wishes about various global social issues through art. Every piece of my work has a part that is outside of the frame, but that is a message to myself that I should not be confined within a frame.

The title of this painting is a quote taken from the film The Green Knight (2021). The artwork evokes themes of growth and sacrifice. With the young woman whose long-plaited braid is wrapped around the tree, the painting explores the timeless, intertwined connection between the body, culture, and the land. This artwork explores how the foundation of mythology and folklore create stories that bind us together in a world that has broken our ancestry apart.
