The Preamble is a dynamic series of events and experiences for all new Mason undergraduate students. Students will have the opportunity to meet their fellow Patriots, learn more about the academic expectations of the university, participate in New Student Convocation, and engage in the biggest pep rally and dance party in Mason history! Off-Campus Students Test Drive Your Patriot Pride
Thursday, August 27 7:30 PM, HUB Ballroom It’s time for you to settle into your new drive and the off-campus community! Park in Lot K and be escorted by our Off-Campus Council members to an evening of fun, games, food, and prizes. A complimentary dinner will be available in the HUB Ballroom from 6:30-7:30 PM for off-campus students.
New Student Convocation
Friday, August 28 9:30 AM Join your fellow Patriots in the Patriot Center as you are formally welcomed into the Mason Community by our President, Provost, other dignitaries, faculty and student leaders! This is your first step in joining our academic community and the Mason Nation, so come dressed in your Mason gear and show your Patriot Pride! Lunch will be provided.
WELCOME WEEK Relax in Fairfax
IVth Night
Welcome to Fairfax! Join city and university officials at the Welcome Week kick-off event. Enjoy games, prizes, and food while local restaurants will give you a taste of Fairfax. Feel free to make the short walk from campus or catch the shuttles from campus.
You might be wondering why is it called IVth Night? To honor our university’s namesake, IVth Night was chosen because George Mason was actually George Mason IV. This spirited event also happens to fall on the fourth day of the school week. What better way to pay homage to this great Patriot?
