DETAILS

“From being a self learned artist at a very young age, the passion and urge to create unique things has never ceased, emerging from designing creative greeting cards for my elder sister for her birthday to designing for people, I have enjoyed and felt content with the process and the smile that it brings on people’s face. I am a keen learner, I like to be different and innovative with whatever I do, but at the same time I am cooperative, I like to listen to what people suggest.Whatever I do, I do with dedication and apply my skills for quality end product. It seems to me that, colours and geometry when used in accordance to the space, has a major influence on its aura and ambience, which reflects into my design.”

Project Intent

Core

-To assist the advisory of social distancing, which is maintaining spatial physical separation to avoid contact between persons, the project aims at providing accommodation outside Greater Mumbai to decongest the existing land constrained city. -The present pandemic caused by COVID 19 virus spread also presents an opportunity for planned urban expansion in areas that have existing access but noticeable pressure of piecemeal development.

-The house today is being adapted as a place to live and work. The continuity of this way of living is yet uncertain but provides a moment for contemplation about the nature of architectural design. Learning from the present that the world is facing in the pandemic situation, many seem to have adapted to the WFH lifestyle and some have decided to adopt this henceforth.

-Companies have started using the WFH with some employees with a mutual advantage. The choice of employee’s residential location becomes secondary to the employer and office space reduction is also benefitting rental outgoings and such. On the other hand, employees need not stay in physical proximity of offices and hence save their monies from staying in high land price locations.

WHERE DO WE TURN TO WHEN OUR PUBLIC SPACES TURN SO HOSTILE ? Evolution of Mobility Spaces The rudimentary stage of any given path is often alluded as the imperfect and under developed beginning. Public mobility spaces have always been the core of development.Nonetheless, for several past years, the aim of develop ment has been distorted owing to our hedonistic intentions and objectives. But somehow the catastrophe has urged us to reconsider the fundamental out look towards mobility spaces. We have been accustomed by an opportuni ty to retrieve our short comings and remodel in the right course of action.

Reducing contact between commuter and cashier while exchanging cash.

‘If it’s not a challenge , it’s not worth the change.’ Mobility spaces form the civic spine of urban are as. Urbanscape accommodates more opportunities to employ the citizens and migrants leading to co ncentration of multiple stakeholders in mobility spaces Plug in bus termini in particular are subjected to chaotic influx of commuters from adjacent modes of transport. Thus these spaces were exposed to high er risk of cont agion, which challenged it’s functioning when the mankind was at utmost need. This in-turn calls for an urgent requirement of reorganization.

Provision of inclined surface at the forepart of ticket window to avoid leaning of people

Organising unorganized movement of users in existing crammed bus shelters

Dedicated drop off point acts as walkway enhancing connectivity be tween the bus depot and station.

Provision of Automatic Ticket Vend ing Machine (ATVM)makes it easier for the collection of train tickets, on the go. Beside the atvm, series of frames gives a sense of direction and space

DESIGN BRIEF

Location - Andheri station(w), Mumbai

Project Intent -The society has always been evolving, this process needs consistent work in different fields and places. -Public mobility is the one which helps people connect to places across the country. In India the public transportation sector indulges in transporting millions of people every day.

Humans are natured to socializing while dining. however, the current predicament leaves us in a dilemna about the safety of such spaces

An outdoor public seating Allows greater scope to practice physical distancing.

Extended concave edges are provided to ensure finer hygiene

-All of this has to come to a pause due to current pandemic. On the other hand due to upsurge, the public mobility space has a vital role to play in today’s situation, as it is inevitable by human activity. -In the current scenario, uncontrollable mobility at every square mile has given rise to increase in crowded spaces. The mobilty spaces are becoming the hotspots for transmission of diseases and hence caged people inside their homes.Since the crowd is not allowed at public spaces, How can these spaces transform? How do we change the idea of public mobility? We must be able to question oneself, in pursuit of liveable cities, towns and villages starting with the rudimentary that is the mobility spaces. -We had to design a bus terminus to solve the issues pertaining to the pandemic situation, we chose the option Urban area/tier 1 town as plug in bus terminus where it is connected to other modes of transport such as metros, railway station and airports, wherein the entry/exit points need to be relooked at.
