My individual collection is revolved around creating a visual of the “Decalcomania Effect”, an expression used to surpass the real world and have an imaginative and ideal presence.I wanted to portray this through exaggerated shapes with reference to natural landscapes and conceptual artists like Gu Wenda who had created flags using human hair and glue. I created a shirt with elongated shoulder seams with a boxy fit to contrast against a typical tailored shirt. To compliment this, I developed my theme through creating a mystic and unnatural tree print that gives the impression of being trapped – juxtaposing the concept of surpassing the idealistic world. I decided to use a black and grey hue to capture a precedent pattern at a stand-still.
