CARDBOARD

CHAIR A study in ergonomics and creative material construction.

KRISTEN JUSSILA

OBJECTIVE My design intent was to create an ergonomic chair using my specific anthropometric data that would support my weight without the use of any adhesives or fasteners.

PROCESS My process started with brainstorming and sketching out my ideas. I chose my six favorite designs and asked others which designs they preferred. I got a good idea of what aspects of my designs were seen as more aesthetically pleasing and modified my designs accordingly. I then built multiple quarter size models out of paper and chip board to find out whether my design looked appropriate and functioned to my needs. I tweaked some aspects of my design to make the final design able to hold my weight and began final construction out of cardboard.
