CHAPTER LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE A solid and committed chapter leadership team is key to success! The most essential roles, and therefore the ones FeelGood World requires all chapters to fill, are below.

Each role has responsibilities to their chapter and commitments to FeelGood World – including submission of regular reports and a position orientation to complete in the first two weeks of class.

TITLE PRESIDENT

MAIN ROLE Acts as the primary leader and contact person for the chapter.

Strategically and creatively implements marketing strategy for FeelGood chapter and enterprising activities.

OTHER LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBLITIES

PRESIDENT • Lead the annual Vision, Commitment, Action strategic planning workshop and work to progress your chapter’s goals • Ensure that FeelGood is recertified as a student organization each academic year • Reserve campus space for meetings, the deli, events, etc.

• Be familiar with student organization policies and procedures • Maintain good relations with university contacts and partners • Coordinate the leadership team and act as a resource for other officers to achieve their goals • Manage communication with the chapter leadership team and members • Facilitate leadership and member meetings

EDUCATION & RECRUITMENT CHAIR • Become knowledgeable about the issue of chronic persistent hunger and the sustainable, grassroots, hunger-ending strategies utilized by our partner organizations • Create and lead both community-building and hunger education elements of chapter meetings • Co-coordinate brand identity (i.e., signage) and educational campaigns at the deli with Marketing & PR Chair • Coordinate educational events beyond the deli, such as residence hall programs or a hunger banquet • Order educational materials from FGW or your partner organization

TREASURER • Establish and maintain the chapter’s financial account in alignment with FeelGood’s financial management policy • Track all chapter and deli enterprise income (deli profits, in-kind donations, investment capital, funding & grants) and expenses (ingredients, equipment, supplies, peak experience travel & registration, apparel production, etc.).

• Manage chapter’s investment capital (Cheese Points) spending • Create an efficient and safe system for collecting, holding and depositing deli donations • Research and pursue funding opportunities through the university/student government or other sources • Author and submit requests for student government funding • Work with FGW to maintain a Square credit card application and account, if applicable • Keep leadership team and chapter members consistently informed on chapter income, expenses, and total money raised for partner organization

DELI MANAGER • • • • • • • • •

Establish viable institutional partnerships to ensure delis success Secure any required deli/vendor permits Ensure food safety certification requirements are met Provide deli training and oversee deli setup Source food for the deli through forming donor partnerships.

Strive to make your deli as sustainable as possible through recycling, composting and minimizing waste.

Schedule the pickup of ingredients for each deli Manage the preparation of ingredients and supplies for each deli Coordinate the menu and the development of new sandwich recipes to maximize deli popularity and donations • Organize shifts and workflow for an efficient deli operation

MARKETING & PR CHAIR • Manage your chapter’s social media accounts to promote and celebrate chapter activity • Create and launch on-campus deli marketing campaigns • Market FeelGood and your deli on campus through dynamic and creative avenues, such as student newspaper ads, flyers, chalking, tabling and apparel • Work with campus staff to understand what advertising outlets are available as a student org • Track the impact of advertising strategies on your deli’s success and meeting attendance • Implement promotions at deli

PHASE LEADERSHIP ROLES PROGRESSION While FeelGood only requires 5 core leadership roles be fulfilled, chapters’ leadership structures typically evolve to become more sophisticated as the chapter itself develops.

Below is one potential progression for a chapter’s leadership team. Expanding your leadership team can either be a response to changes or a way to inspire growth. Being able to sustain a strong leadership team - no less grow one – is also a key indicator that your chapter has effectively fostered a culture of empowerment.

Notice a recommended maximum 11 leaders, even in Phase IV. Depending on how your chapter best functions, you may want to determine which roles constitute a “core” leadership team that meets weekly and is responsible for major decisions.

From there, leaders can work with committees on specific projects, inviting members to glimpse the various positions and begin imagining themselves leading the chapter some day!

Ultimately, as long as the 5 core roles are being filled, your chapter has a lot of autonomy in terms of organizing itself, what titles to utilize, and how to share responsibilities!
