PARENT AND ME SIGN LANGUAGE : Babies and toddlers can learn to communicate with their parents before they can speak! Sign language is an effective approach to introduce the concept of language to children at an early stage in development. Parent participation required.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT FREE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS The Family Resource Center collaborates with local organizations to provide FREE educational classes. These classes are scheduled on – going throughout the year. The Family Resource Center offers ESL classes in collaboration with Laubach Literacy. Free child care is provided for participants and incentives are provided for course completion. This course is offered twice a week, every week.

PRACTICAL THEATER CLASS Ages 18+ A senior theater class taught by a professional through San Diego Community College Continuing Education. Students are given scripts, pair up, and do rehearsal homework. For beginning and intermediate level actors.
BRAIN FITNESS Ages 18+ The Brain Fitness Program Is a workout for the brain featuring six computer-based exercises. The exercises target roots of cognitive function that improve processing speed, working and narrative memory and sound discrimination, precision and sequencing. COMPUTER BASICS Ages 18+ Learn the basics of computer hardware and software. A basic class to acquaint you with skills that are used in most computer programs. Classes are 6 weeks long call 619.269.1540 for session dates. $15 fee for materials.

Ballet shoes and leotards are required for Ballet II and above. For recital purposes, please purchase pink ballet shoes for girls and black ballet shoes for boys.
Ages 8+ This troupe is open to students at all hip hop skill levels who are eager to perform! There are Performance opportunities all year long at a variety of Kroc Center and community events.

Students explore basic ballet steps while also learning rhythm and coordination.
BALLET II Ages 4-6 / 7-10 Continue learning basic ballet steps and terminology while improving poise, rhythm, stretching and coordination through more advanced ballet combinations. *Previous experience or instructor approval required.
This class focuses on providing a workout while having fun dancing to specific styles and fusions of hip-hop. Although these classes are for all levels of dancers and fitness enthusiasts, it is also a great place to start your hip-hop experience for novice dancers.

HIP HOP HIP HOP/TAP FOR TOTS Ages 3-5 Tap those toes and stomp those heels! Tots interested in tap and hip-hop instruction come check out this class. The first half hour is focused on tap and the second on very basic hip-hop moves. See what magic your little one can create!
YOUTH HIP HOP Ages 4-6 A great way for kids to learn and master different styles and techniques of hip hop. This class builds confidence, team work, and selfawareness.

Teen Ballet/Jazz Technique
THEATER ACTING I Ages 8-13 Students will work on monologues, scenes, and performance organization. Lessons on improv, enunciation, projection, abolishing stage fright, and audition prep are also included. Students will be engaged in fun activities concentrating on working as a group which will later come into use onstage.
BROADWAY DANCE Ages 7-12 A combination of dance styles commonly used in musical theatre. Learn musical theatre choreography and combinations while dancing to popular Broadway show tunes. Learn the movements necessary for musical theatre auditions from a professional choreographer.
MONOLOGUE/AUDITION TUTELAGE Ages 8-16 Focus on individual development as an actor/ actress to enhance performance capabilities.

Ages 7+ Children and adults can learn to play a brass instrument like trumpet, baritone, or trombone. A professional musician will teach learners the basic concepts to producing a good tone and reading music. Students may provide their own instrument or rent an instrument from the Kroc Music Department.

ADULT BRASS BAND Ages 14+ Blow your horn in a British-Style Brass Band! The Salvation Army has over 100 years of music making in brass bands, and this group plays swing, rock, marches, classical and much more. Participants must already know how to play a brass instrument and read music.
PERCUSSION PRIVATE DRUM SET LESSONS Ages 7+ Learn to play the latest tunes, big fills, and a variety of styles. Session Fee: $145 members / $165 guests.

FREE FAMILY EVENTS
All classes are eight weeks in length, unless otherwise noted. No classes will be held on holidays; fees will be prorated accordingly. Classes are subject to cancellation or change due to low enrollment. Art supplies are Included in the cost of each class. Classes are limited to 20 students, unless otherwise noted.
A PLAC ET CREATE O
FINE ARTS PAINTING FOR PLEASURE Ages 9-13 and 13-18 Explore colors, painting techniques and alternatives. Using watercolors and acrylic paints, the artists will become more comfortable expressing themselves.
TEEN/ADULT PHOTOSHOP Ages 13-18 Students learn the basics of Photoshop, a professional tool for photo editing and graphic design, and digital photography.
FAMILY CERAMICS Ages 8+ An introduction to ceramic materials and processes. Students will learn how to make figurative sculptures, molds, work with the potter’s wheel, glazing techniques, and fire clay items. Fee:$90/members $110/guests
FREE Family Read & Play Days September 23 October 21 November 18, 2014 10:00-11:30 am Multi-purpose Room Bring your preschoolers to a funfilled morning of dance, singing, puppetry and art projects. YOGA AND ART Ages 9-12 This class will be a combination of yoga moves and making art. The first half of each class we will do yoga, the second half will focus on an art project, using different materials and a new concept each time.
MY SHAPES MAKE ART Ages 5-8 Learn the basic essentials of art by using well-known shapes to create each piece with painting, drawing, and mixed media techniques. Each session has a different theme. Session Fee: $60 Members / $80 Guests
FREE Family Arts & Literacy Night Family Arts & Literacy Nights are held six evenings per year and include performances by a Young Audiences artist, an art project for the entire family to enjoy, and new book for each child.
