MEET THE

MAJORS

Dear Friends, It’s delightful for Margaret and I to be at the Kroc Center. We feel warmly welcomed and have hit the ground running. There have already been television interviews and outstanding special events that we’ve attended here, such as National Night Out held on August 2. At that event the San Diego Chief of Police William Lansdowne said “it’s not the weather in San Diego, it’s the people”. I couldn’t agree more. Being responsible for the Kroc Center is a challenge that we look forward to. Everyday hundreds of people come here for a variety of reasons. The busyness of the place proves its success, but as The Salvation Army Founder, William Booth, once said, “that and better will do”. We are honored to follow the previous Administrators/ Corps Officers, the Foley’s and Van Cleef’s, and will honor their

KROC CENTER CORP OFFICERS MAJORS RICK & MARGARET PEACOCK

hard work and creativity by continuing to build upon the many successes which they enjoyed during their tenure at The Salvation Army Kroc Center.

Richard Peacock was born April 5, 1955 in Denver, Colorado and Margaret Markham was born September 23 of the same year in Sumpter, SC. While Major Rick is a fourth generation Salvation Army Officer, Major Margaret’s father was in the Air Force when she was growing up, and later her parents became Salvation Army officers. Rick and Margaret were married January 31, 1976. They have two daughters, and three granddaughters and one step-grandson.

We look forward to meeting as many of you as we can. We love to hear your ideas as well as knowing how you have enjoyed utilizing the activities and services provided. We hope you have been blessed by coming here. We have.

Major Margaret is a great cook, and desserts are her specialty. Major Rick is an adventurous fitness enthusiast and enjoys running, indoor rock climbing and hiking.

Sincerely,

The Majors have been Salvation Army Officers for 31 years and come to the Kroc Center from Riverside where they served for 10 years.

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination since 1865. Nearly 33 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through a wide array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. About 83 cents of every dollar raised is used to support those services in nearly 9,000 communities nationwide. For more information, go to www.salvationarmyusa.org.
