On June 7th we will celebrate the Suisun City Kroc Centers 2nd birthday with a huge Car Show and host of Family activities we know you will love at KrocFest 2014. It doesn’t seem possible that over 250,000 have passed through our doors to workout, swim, watch a movie, enjoy the symphony, play basketball, rock climb, worship and participate in a multitude of programs we carefully select each month. Over the past two years literally thousands of pounds have been shed at the Kroc Center. Countless laps have been swum. New languages have been learned. Marriages have been restored and Spiritual peace has been found.
As we have said before, we are just getting started. This Summer Program Guide is packed full of ways you and your family can learn, grow and find renewal all in One Place. If you have never visited the Kroc Center we believe you will find what you’ve been looking for when you walk through the doors so when you get there, our “Equipped to Serve” team will be waiting to welcome you. We’ll see you there!

WORSHIP CLASSES
At the Kroc Center, we believe that families that worship together stay together. We have therefore developed a number of elements that help families develop and grow spiritually through weekly character development programs for all ages. Broken up into safe peer groups with impassioned leaders who love God and the people they guide, our objective is to meet people where they are spiritually and provide opportunities for growth in every aspect of life. In addition to the fitness programs you already know and love, on Wednesday evenings, the Kroc focuses on being spiritually fit.
Troops The Salvation Army has designed fun, safe and educational programs similar in format to Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts, but with a Biblical foundation. Sunbeams for girls and Adventure Corps for boys offer youth the chance to experience a wide variety of fun and educational activities where the children learn, play, and interact in a safe and positive environment. The Salvation Army’s character building programs are biblically based with caring, trained volunteer leaders. Day: Wednesday Time: 6:30-7:30 pm
Rebellion If you’re age 13-19 and are tired of being bored, check out Rebellion. Worship at the Kroc’s Rebellion Youth Group may very well be the right thing for you or your teen. Rebellion provides teens a fun environment to develop into healthy adults through games, activities, and open discussion times.
Women’s Night Out Each month, the women of the church come together to laugh, learn and fellowship together. If you haven’t laughed lately or spent time with other women who understand what you experience as a woman, don’t miss this time with the ladies. You won’t regret it! Day: Third Sunday of the month Time: 5pm
Man Time Whether you’re a steak-eating carnivore, a Mr. Fixit handyman or just a guy looking for other guys who actually get you, “Man Time” could well be what you’ve been waiting for. Our men do everything from helping out with special projects, to meeting for breakfast, and everything in between (and we mean everything). For more information and a current schedule of activities contact Captain Jonathan Harvey at (707) 439-7882 for more details.
Adult Bible Study Have you ever read the Bible and wished you understood it? Now’s your chance to discover a comfortable opportunity to unravel God’s Word and how to apply it to your life. Join one of the three Bible study groups for adults on Tuesdays at 6:00 pm (for ladies) and Wednesdays at 6:30pm (for all). Each group delves into a range of topics that focuses on spiritual growth and understanding God’s Word as well as exploring books of the Bible in depth. An open discussion fueled by pertinent questions lead into scriptural application and prayer.
Kroc Worship Team The Kroc Worship music is led by a team of talented local musicians who come together for a single purpose: to priase and worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With the Holy Spirit as their lead, they share their love of God and music with The Salvation Army congregation each Sunday and at special events through out the community. Their mission is to lead the congregation and all who hear them into the presence of God. If you have a gift for music and think you could be a valuable addition to the team, let us know. We’d love to hear you play or sing!

THE VALUE OF A WORKOUT PARTNER 1. MOTIVATION
4. SAFETY
2. ACCOUNTABILITY
5. SOCIAL
Set goals and create a plan to reach them! A workout partner can be your cheerleader, help you safely push limits, and celebrate successes.
It is easy to cancel a workout because you feel tired or are simply not up to it. If your workout partner is counting on you to be there, you’ll be less likely to cancel.
A workout partner can help with good form, technique, and safely performing more repetitions with increased weight.
Working out with someone helps to beat boredom. The time will go by more quickly and you may make new friends in the process. The gym can become a place you look forward to going to.
3. PERSPECTIVE
On tough days, a workout partner will remind you of your progress and help boost your morale. A good workout partner will also be very candid and honest about areas for improvement.
Jim & Don
Brendan & Kirsten Doherty
Blanca & Veronica
Over the past twenty years Jim and Don have been one another’s accountability partners. They have golfed, played softball, and worked out together over that time. “You can lift a little more than usual and do a little more. I joined the Kroc Center because I saw how strong Don was getting!” - Jim
“It is fun sharing your improvements with somebody else and spending valuable time together while working out is awesome!” - Brendan & Kirsten Doherty
“Working out with your best friend is not only fun, but motivating each other to always keep on going has made it easier to lose the extra pounds!!!” - Veronica

Belay Certification Belaying is the act of properly using the climbing rope to safeguard a climber. In the event of a fall, the belayer locks off the rope to stop the fall. Belaying is a big responsibility. If you take on the task you should be competent and alert. You should know the proper safety checks and belay signals. The Kroc Center offers a FREE one hour belay class. Here you will become familiar with the equipment and the techniques required for certification. Belay certification test required once a year. Ages: 13 & Up. Days: Tue/Thu Time: 6 - 7pm Appointments available upon request. See the front desk to set up your belay certification test.
In addition, our Auto Belay systems allow you to work on your endurance and improve your skills without the need of a partner.
Bouldering
Top Roping
Bouldering is a form of rock climbing that is performed safely without the use of ropes or harnesses. It serves to build stamina, technique, and increase finger strength. While it can be done without any equipment whatsoever, most climbers use climbing shoes to help secure footholds, chalk to keep their hands dry, and bouldering crash pads to prevent injuries from falls.
Top roping is a climbing style in which a rope is used for the climber’s safety. The rope runs from the climber’s patner, known as the “belayer,” to an anchor system set up at the top of the climb, then back down to the climber. Belayers must be certified by the Kroc climbing staff once a year.
The sport originated as a method of training for roped climbs and mountaineering. Bouldering enables climbers to practice at a safe distance from the ground. At the Kroc, our bouldering height is 11 feet at head level, and boulderers position crash pads near the climbing wall to provide a softer landing, as well as one or more spotters to help redirect the climber towards the pads. The Kroc’s Climbing Wall is available to all members and day pass holders to practice their bouldering skills any time of the day at no cost! All you need is a 10 minute training session with one of our climbing staff during our regular climbing wall hours!!! Age: 18 & Up

WILL’S 6 SAFETY TIPS 1. Be aware of the pool rules. Each facility has different sets of rules. Rules are for your safety and the safety of others. 2. Make sure your lifejacket is US coast guard approved. These life jackets are tested and rated for consumer safety. When worn properly an unconscious person floats head up. 3. Have kids take a certified swimming class. If your kids are going to be spending a lot of time at the pool, consider enrolling them in a certified swimming class. These classes can teach them some basic pool safety measures and flotation techniques.
Private Swim Lessons Private 30-minute swim lessons are offered by select aquatics staff instructors for all ability levels. Multiple participants within a single lesson must be of similar ability. For more information or to arrange a lesson, please call the Aquatics Center at (707) 439-7899. 8 Lessons per session. Gold Members receive 10% off. Sorry, no refunds or credits for missed lessons. See lead lifeguards to schedule additional private lesson’s. Days: Monday - Thursday Time: 9:00am 9:35am 10:10am 10:45am 11:20am 5:00pm 5:35pm 6:10pm 6:45pm Days: Saturday - Sunday Time: 9:00am 9:35am 10:10am 10:45am 11:20am For more information contact:

4. Learn basic CPR. Make sure at least one adult on the premises is confident performing CPR in the event of an emergency. This can be a life-saver when kids or even adults need help during a drowning incident 5. Always watch your children in the pool. No one knows your child as well as you. You can recognize your child’s distressed expression and body positioning before other participants. This will prevent an accident before it happens. 6. Always be alert around the pool.
