Shepards Fairey is a well known street artist, he is of our culture. He was the artist behind the Barack Obama Hope poster, of course he was. His most signature designs appeared on clothing and collectables. In 1990 he wrote a manifesto, which was on the topic of his art practise. Not only an implied weight to what he was doing, but also a sense of self-seriousness. In the manifesto it discusses Phenomenology, this is a study of subjective experience or a single point of view, which is know well in the Design world. For the design of the Manifesto. I decided to design it with the word ‘Manifesto’ to stand out from the page. I did this by making the letters different sizes, but larger than the manifesto its self. I want to create a ‘point of view’ with the layout of my manifesto, which I think will make it stand out from the page. When redacting my text I wanted to pick out key words or phrases. I also wanted to select words that a designer and how meanings/opinions can vary so much. Shepard Fairey would say ‘the process of letying things manifest themselves’. I think showing the different opinions and feelings behind the Obey campaign and stickers without actually using word sticker.
