Ein Auftragswerk des Saarländischen Rundfunks. Die Premiere fand am 11. May 2007 in Saarbrücken statt als Teil des Festivals „Movement - Musik im 21. Jahrhundert“, Intendant Wolfgang Korb. Die Ausführende waren das InZeit Ensemble unter der Leitung von Mike Svoboda. A commission from the Saarland Radio. Programmnotiz: Um die zwei Komponenten! des ohne Unterbrechung zu spielenden Konzertprogramms zu verbinden - die drei Teile des Makrokosmos I für verstärktes Klavier von Georg Crumb und die vier Auftragskompositionen von Ana Lara, Martin Smolka, Gergely Vajda und Claas Willeke, die sich auf eigene Weise auf Crumbs Werk beziehen - steuerte ich eine! dritte hinzu: fünf kleine Kompositionen,! zusammengefasst unter dem Titel transition/intuition. Die sollen Übergänge schaffen zwischen den!!beiden!anderen!Komponenten und den! kreativen! Fähigkeiten der!!Musiker des! Ensembles!InZeit!Freiraum geben für eigene Einfälle; Einfälle zu dem,!was sie hören und erfahren im Programm!. Die!von mir!komponierten Begleitungen, Strukturen und Eingrenzungen!sollen das Ensemble!!dabei!lenken! und eine Wiederhol- und Erkennbarkeit herstellen!. Ein paar Bemerkungen zum Programm: Crumbs Werk besteht aus 12! "Fantasien" über die Tierkreiszeichen, die frei aneinander gereiht sind (bemerkenswert ist,!dass Crumbs Werk ca. zwei Jahre vor Stockhausens!"Tierkreis"!komponiert wurde). Der Begriff
"Intuitive Musik" stammt aus Stockhausens Werken!freier Improvisation wie "Aus den sieben Tagen" - Stücke,! in denen! z.B. lediglich Texte als Notenmaterial dienen. Die vier Auftragswerke, die sich auf Makrokosmos I beziehen ohne zu zitieren, sollen!neue!!Hör-Räume!eröffnen und persönliche Perspektiven! auf Crumbs Werk! werfen. Zusammen mit meinen! Verbindungsgliedern! sollen die 12 Einzelteile ein Ganzes!!ergeben, in dem!!das Original,!George!Crumbs Klavierstücke!zwar!im Vordergrund stehen,!!das!sich aber atmosphärisch über eine! Dauer von 70 Mintuen erstreckt. - Mike Svoboda April 2007! Programme note: In order to connect the programme’s two components (the three excerpts from Makrokosmos for amplified piano by George Crumb and the four commissioned works by Ana Lara, Martin Smolka, Gergely Vajda und Claas Willeke, each individually relating to Crumb’s work), which are to be played without interruption, I inserted a third element. This entails five short compositions consolidated under the title transition/intuition. The purpose of these pieces is to form transitions between the two other components and to provide space to allow the creative abilities of the musicians of InZeit to develop personal ideas; spontaneous ideas in relation to what the musicians hear and experience in the programme. The accompaniments, structures and restrictions that I composed/imposed should steer the ensemble through this process and enable repetition and recognition. A few remarks about the programme: Crumb’s work consists of 12 ‘Fantasies’ on the Zodiac to be played in any order (it is worth mentioning that Crumb’s work was written about two years before Stockhausen’s ‘Tierkreis’ (‘The Signs of the zodiac’)). The notion of ‘intuitive music’ stemmed from Stockhausen’s free improvisatory works like 'Aus den sieben Tagen' ('From the Seven Days') in which musical material is provided solely by texts. The four commissioned works, which relate to Makrokosmos I without quoting from it, should open up new sound spaces and throw personal perspectives on Crumb's piece. In combination with my connecting pieces, the 12 individual parts should result in a whole, the George Crumb piano pieces standing at the fore and being atmospherically stretched out over the whole 70-minute duration. - Mike Svoboda, April 2007
