THE LANGSTON ROAR ENTER TO LEARN. DEPART TO SERVE.

Langston Delivers for Turkey Trot By John Brooks The Langston Gang was commissioned to make a mural for the annual Turkey Trot and delivered big time. The students worked together for several days under a very tight deadline, but were able to finish and deliver the finished product to the very grateful organizers. The mural will be on display at the finish of the race and we couldn’t be prouder of our kids. Photo: Educator Amber and volunteer Darian at Turkey Trot headquarters delivering the mural.

From the Desk of Miss B

Dear Langston Family,

I hope this finds you and your family safe and healthy! As we make plans to enjoy and celebrate our Thanksgiving holiday, I would like to remind everyone to be thankful for their families. This year, the best way to show your love and thanks for your family is to respect their health and yours. Please, practice safe and healthy protocols such as wearing a mask and social distancing. As for me, this year I am going to be the Thanksgiving Fairy! I am preparing baskets (placed in totes) of food and goodies for my grandfather (who will be 90 on November 30—picture below!), my mother, and my Aunt Sandra and Uncle Rick. I will be dropping these off at their houses on Wednesday night and then will call the next morning to wish them a very Happy Thanksgiving and to suggest that they might want to check their front porch! I am preparing the full dinner proper for my small family of three. No, it will not be the same as years before. I come from a very large family that is extremely close knit. From Atlanta to Knoxville, my family has always gathered for Thanksgiving. Although we will not be in one another’s immediate company this year, the fact that we feel the absence of their presence so strongly is a reminder that the true meaning of Thanksgiving is alive and well in our hearts. In the end, I believe that the circumstances of this year will be something that we hearken back to in years to come; we will take the lesson that we learned and put our understanding and knowledge into practice. I believe we will make a point to never again take our loved ones for granted. Please stay safe and I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, November 30!
