THE LANGSTON ROAR ENTER TO LEARN. DEPART TO SERVE.
Astronomer Mike Frisch Returns The Langston Centers favorite astronomer came by for another visit this Wednesday. The discussion was on what to look for in the December skies. Mike stated that this month would be especially interesting as some rare astronomical events are set to occur. Between Dec 4th -16th the Geminid meteor shower will be visible and the 21st of this month is the start of The Great Conjunction when Jupiter and Saturn appear closer together in the sky. Mike is great at explaining even the most complex of concepts and is always open to questions. We appreciate the time he shares with us and look forward to learning more in the future.
Chess Takes over Langston Interest in chess has increased worldwide in 2020 in an overwhelming way. Fueled by Covid lockdown restrictions, and, most recently, the Netflix drama Queen’s Gambit, chess has seen a world wide resurgence and the gang at Langston are joining in the fun. For now, the children are learning fundamentals and gaining confidence. However, a competitive team is in the works for the spring and we look forward to promoting this timeless game of strategy.
