2020 COMING JUNE /SUMMERU U D .E W A S E N N .KE NUARY AT CPE JA IN R E T IS G E R
BIG CHANGES, SAME FAMILY Pat Walker, Community Programs Director The new year brings some exciting new changes for our Community department. OLLI will now operate under the “Community” umbrella which will encompass Personal Enrichment, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and Summer University. By combining these areas we will be able to work together to make a greater impact on our community. The Community program area will continue to offer a wide range of courses in areas such as arts and music, history, computers and technology, language arts, fitness and leisure, and money management. We will continue having our OLLI Socials including February 11, 2020 which will feature a theme of “Fairy Tales.” Attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite fairy tale character and will enjoy an exciting night of dancing and dining. An exciting new era begins for us as we take over our Summer University programs. In 2020, we will continue to host Summer University at the Kennesaw campus and will also be offering camps at our Marietta campus. We will be offering a wide range of classes at both locations
and registration begins in mid January. Stay tuned for registration to open for your children and grandchildren. In the coming year of 2020, our featured international OLLI trip will be to Italy for “A Taste of Tuscany.” Members of the trip will enjoy fine wine and food and the sensory delights of the Tuscan region. The trip will be led by KSU Professor Emeritus Howard Shealy who has traveled and lived in Italy for more than 30 years. Only a limited number of travelers can take advantage of this adventure, so act fast! As the Director of Community Programs, I look forward to the opportunity to work with each of these programs. If there are any programs, trips or classes that we are not offering, feel free to share those ideas with me. We are always looking to broaden our offerings to reach as many people in our community as possible. I can be reached at 470-578-3508 or pwalke43@kennesaw.edu. I look forward to hearing from and you and working together as we strive to enhance and grow our Community programs and their awareness.
