PAT’S PORTAL

TAKING YOU ON ADVENTURES IN AND OUT OF THE CLASSROOM

Wine, wisdom and you – all things that get better with age. Our OLLI Newsletter is no exception. Whether this is your first OLLI Newsletter or your 15th, I am thrilled to welcome and invite you to take this journey with us as we continue to enhance and evolve this publication created especially for you. As you flip through the pages, you’ll notice the expansion of classes. With that said, this newsletter is definitely a keeper! We know it can be challenging to juggle work, travel, volunteering, family and OLLI. This newsletter is your solution – with six months of classes (instead of three), you’ll be able to plan for longer periods of time. You’ll have a head start on new courses as well as see the progression for those that build upon one another. This being the case, we will now be mailing the newsletter twice each year. However, flyers will be available in the OLLI Suite with information on classes for the month. Also, be sure to join our email list for up-to-date information on courses, events and travel (email ccpe@kennesaw.edu). Speaking of travel ... pack your bags! Thanks to your helpful feedback from the OLLI Travel Group, we have three local day trips planned and are working on domestic overnight trips to see the fall colors in New England, a land/ sea cruise to Alaska, and a Pacific Coast highway bus tour through California and Washington State.

Luck is also on your side – our international trip has been selected and we will be traveling to Ireland together! “Erin go bragh” and grab your passport! Details will be announced via email and Facebook.com/KSUOLLI. Registration will be available on our website. Get ready – the Emerald Isle awaits! Learn more about all of our travel plans on Page 4. As you continue to read this newsletter and highlight those classes of interest, just know that I am always open to your ideas. If there is a class you are interested in that we do not offer, just let me know! With locations at the Booth Museum in Cartersville and Laurel Canyon Soleil in Canton, we have a plethora of options! As the official OLLI contact person, I am always available for questions, suggestions and conversations. I look forward to seeing you in class soon.

Do I have to be over 50 years of age? OLLI is designed for individuals that are 50 and older. The planned travel will be designed for individuals of this age.

Are volunteers needed to help plan trips and how do I get involved? All of the travel opportunities will be volunteer led. Teams are forming in the areas of day travel, domestic travel and international travel. Contact Pat Walker, OLLI Program Manager, at pwalke43@kennesaw.edu to be placed on the email list for future planning meetings.
