The master plan consists of greenspaces that are linked together by paths. Both meander around the site, each connected in some way. Prospect Hill and Pendelton are connected above and below. The tunnel allows access to the other side, strictly as outdoor space. The cultural center bridges over Liberty Street, with 3 entrance points on each level of the hill.

The library acts as the link for the neighborhoods of Prospect Hill and Pendelton. With a special collection that is beneficial to the residents of the area, the library contains a market and workshop to promote more commerce in the, almost strictly, residential area.

WORKSHOP MARKET

The market area is an outdoor plaza, covered with glass canopies. The stalls’ counters wrap around, drawing people inside to the special collections. The floor opens to the workshop beneath. The market connects to the workshop through floor 2.5, as a portal from consumer to producer, and vice versa. The children’s area lies underneath it all, with glass ceilings were the workshop lies, so that the production is visible.

The reading tower is the main body of the adult section. The floor continuously spirals upwards. On the top three floors, there is a different view of the three big business areas in Cincinnati: Downtown, Over-the-Rhine, and the Findlay Market.

The entrance canopy draws people into the library by extending over the sidewalk.

In the children’s area, the bookshelves are interactive, allowing kids to climb and sit on them. There are also moments when the ceiling opens up and light filters into the space.
