Hamburg-Hafencity – September 2011 An architectural tour
Look at the map first!
Walk or take a bike to the old “Speicherstadt�.
Start perhaps at the Unilever Building.
And discover the Leaning Tower of Hamburg.
Have a closer look at the Plaza inside.
And look into the shop with the products of Unilever, you will be surprised how many they have.
Next to it is a viewing tower, wherefrom the you can overlook the 155 hectare building site of the “Hafencity� and into the harbour along the river Elbe.
Enjoy also the various shops and restaurants should it start raining, as the weather can change very quickly when it is overcastted like on these photos. Of course you will discover that no office or public building, no apartment complex is looking alike. They are all different and that makes the area very entertaining. Here they come:
Last but not least look up to the innovative “Elbphilharmonie” which started construction in 2007 and shall be full in function by 2013.
