CITY LIBRARY Centre for information, experiences and learning. The Turku Main Library is a new era library that cares for the needs of students and other citizens every day. The library provides everything for both study and recreation: study books, fiction, databases on various fields, wireless Internet connection and ample, well-lit spaces for study. Open (self-service) libraries provide longer opening hours. You can look for and reserve material within libraries in several municipalities at one single address vaskikirjastot.fi. We also have a continuously expanding collection of e-books which can be borrowed via the web library. The world opens up for the student through hundreds of domestic and foreign newspapers in both paper and digital format. Through PressReader you can read newspapers even at home with the help of your library user ID and pin code. Through the combined library and culture card you can get information on cultural events in Turku, for example theatre and concert tickets at reduced prices.

YOUTH SERVICES ANSWERS TO MANY QUESTIONS An information and guidance service point for those under 29 called Nuorten Turku is located in Ohjaamo (Yliopistonkatu 25 A, 4th floor). It provides information on many topics such as studying, searching for employment or housing, hobbies, and international opportunities related to work or studying. You will have help free of charge with filling out forms or creating a CV, for example. Nuorten Turku actively organises info sessions and job interview simulations. You will also find information on social and health services. Further information: turku.fi/nuortenturku VIMMA OFFERS CRAFTS SKILLS, COURSES AND YUMMY TREATS Vimma – Art and Activity Centre for Youths (Aurakatu 16) is a house of opportunities offering a chance to practice many crafts skills from textile printing to drawing comics and making pottery. There are also various activities related to media available. Many short courses with varying themes and open workshops take place in Vimma, and Vimma annually hosts a Turku Bandstand contest for youth bands. Concerts and performances are organised in the Vimma hall and theatre, and Vimma’s facilities can be rented for a society or association. DO YOU WANT TO RELAX AT A SUMMER COTTAGE, SWIM AND GO TO THE SAUNA? Are you organising a family fest, fun getaway with friends or a training or a meeting day for a group or organization? The City of Turku youth services rents out four beautiful camping areas and the cabins on them for a fair price. The camping areas include Vienola in Rymättylä, Tippsund in Taivassalo and Ahtela in Sauvo, as well as the Nukkumajoki cabin in Inari. These facilities can be rented by organisations, associations and private persons. All camping areas are located in exceptionally beautiful locations, in the heart of nature and near water.
