THE CITY LIBRARY Everyone visits the library – students too! Turku City Library is a modern library that provides services every day of the year. At our libraries you can prepare for your exams in peace, loan books for leisure reading, read digitalized Finnish newspapers with ePress and keep up with world news with PressReader. At our web library (vaskilibraries.fi) you can find a broad collection of e-books and e-audiobooks. Visit the library to acquire a library card. If you want to, your library card can also be used as a Culture Card. As a Culture Card holder you get news about cultural activities in Turku, for example affordable theatre and concert tickets. The library also offers a variety of events free of charge. Why not try an interesting lecture, an art exhibition or a language cafÊ in Finnish?

CITY THEATRE In the autumn, our plays will take you to Varissuo, Vartiovuorenmäki, a rehab clinic and a British manor, for starters. Prepare to laugh your head off at our monthly stand up clubs and in the farce Näytelmä joka menee pieleen (The Play That Goes Wrong). The massively popular Taru sormusten herrasta (The Lord of the Rings) will also continue its run in the autumn. Exploit your student card to the max and see them all! Varissuo (premiere 7.9.) YOUTH SERVICES ANSWERS TO MANY QUESTIONS An information and guidance service Nuorten Turku for youngsters under 29 is located in Ohjaamo (Yliopistonkatu 25 A, 4 th floor). It provides information on many topics such as studying, searching for employment or housing, hobbies or international opportunities. You will have help free of charge f.ex. with filling out forms or creating a CV. Nuorten Turku organizes also different kind of information sessions. Further information (in Finnish): turku.fi/nuortenturku NEW HOBBIES AND DELICACIES WITH POCKET MONEY AT VIMMA Youth’s arts and activities center Vimma (Aurakatu 16) is a house of multiple possibilities. You can get a wide range of new hobbies. You can try e.g. radio work or pottery. At Vimma you can participate in short courses in a variety of themes and also open art workshops which are suitable for beginners as well as for more experienced people. Turku Bandstand is an annual band competition and its first rounds are held in Vimma. Besides these Turku Bandstand events you can find several concerts and youth events here. You can also rent some rooms for your meeting or venue for your events. On the ground floor you can find KafÊ Vimma where you can enjoy delicacies with very affordable prices.

DO YOU WANT TO RELAX AT A SUMMER COTTAGE, SWIM AND GO TO THE SAUNA? The City of Turku youth services rents out four beautiful camping areas and the cabins on them for a fair price. The camping areas include Vienola in Rymättylä, Tippsund in Taivassalo and Ahtela in Sauvo, as well as the Nukkumajoki cabin in Inari. These facilities can be rented by organisations, associations and private persons. All camping areas are located in exceptionally beautiful locations, in the heart of nature and near water.

Take your time and explore Turku and its love stories, statues and urban legends. USE A MOBILE APP AS YOUR GUIDE The routes are not visibly marked so you will need a map with you. You can get the route maps from the library or the Tourist information in Turku. Part of the route maps are translated into English and Swedish.
