Jari Arffmans (b. 1965) long photographic career expands over twenty years and he has participated in exhibitions worldwide. Jari Arffman has lived in places like Barcelona and Los Angeles from where he returned back to Finland in the early 1990s to live and work in the city of Tampere, as his studies in international relations at the University of Tampere needed to be finished. Jari Arffman got his master's degree in social sciences in 1994. In addition to his work in art photography, Arffman also worked as a photojournalist and a writer until 2005, when art photography finally won over journalism as his novel concept, Bart, gave him a chance to concentrate on his art. Bart (Business Art) is a new, distinctive, individual product name and operating model for documentary photography. Alejandro Lorenzo Ruiz (b.1976) is a Spanish photographer working in Finland. Ruiz studied in Barcelona, Spain, where he lived in a bohemian ambient and learnt photography. Then he moved searching for personal experience to Finland. Finally, in 2008, he decided to start working behind the camera. His portraits, mixing fantasy and realism, discuss people’s complexity and beauty. Pursuing an evolving research about storytelling and aesthetics, his works are strongly expressive, with disciplined technique and sensible contents. After two years of activity, he has had four shows including the Finnish Advertising Photographers annual competition exhibition 2009, where he achieved both a first and a honour mention prices, and as well got showcased in Miami Art Bridge fair 2008 (Barbara Ann Gallery). ORGANIZERS: Forum for Kultur og Næringsliv Forum for Kultur og Næringsliv was established in 2001 as a private initiative with key Norwegian companies and cultural organizations as initiators. Forum for Kultur og Næringsliv was established as a member association, open for memberships from both companies and individuals. The association quickly gained many members, among them many of the largest business enterprises and cultural institutions in Norway. The goal is to strengthen cooperation between cultural and commercial sectors, and contribute to growth in culture‐based economic development and local development. This is achieved by creating meeting places for knowledge and experience, providing tools and publications, conducting various competence‐raising activity and disseminate relevant information about the Norwegian and international research in the field. Finsk‐norsk kulturinstitutt The Finnish‐Norwegian Cultural Institute is located in modern and distinguished facilities in downtown Oslo. The mission of the Institute is to present Finnish culture and art in Norway and to promote cultural exchange between Finland and Norway. The Institute was founded in 1997. The changing exhibitions in the Institute’s gallery showcase Finnish visual arts, design and architecture. The Institute’s cultural programme includes concerts, movie screenings, author evenings, lectures and seminars. Events are held at the Institute or in conjunction with Norwegian cultural institutions. The Institute actively works to promote the visibility of Finnish art and culture throughout Norway by providing Finnish artists for Norwegian festivals, etc. The Institute acts in close co‐operation with the Finnish Embassy in Norway and with other Finnish parties in Norway. ArtShortCut ArtShortCut is passionate about the arts and lives for being challenged by them. The motivation is to support the growth of the creative economy by helping people understand the art market place and its possibilities. We support quality artists attempting to build a career in this traditionally challenging field. We work mainly with the new contemporary art markets, but also understand the inner workings of the older art market. ArtShortCut’s strength is its ability to work on a global level. ASC is simply a quality 'dating service' for matching artists and artworks with interested parties. This we do by providing advice and help in this complicated field. We are not a gallery or other traditional establishment but act as a platform that enables more variety in the contemporary art world by organising and curating exhibitions in various locations. Corporate Social Responsibilty and the Arts is one of our key interest areas. At ArtShortCut we believe that art gives its viewer a subjective experience. This experience is one that we believe everyone has a personal right to.
