IPSIA was promoted in 1985 by one of the main associations for social promotion in Italy, ACLI, with the aim of spreading abroad its values of human rights and social inclusion.Its activities are mainly addressed to young people in a framework of commitment for sustainable development, for civil coexistence and for peace. With regard to its international action, IPSIA operates in the Balkans and in Africa, focusing on three thematic areas: International Volunteering, Development Cooperation and Development Education. IPSIA builds partnerships with Civil Society Organizations in Italy and abroad, by promoting socio-economic development and by supporting vulnerable communities in the world. Since 1998, through International Volunteering programs, IPSIA offers people the opportunity to meet local communities and to establish peace relations and networks. In Kenya, IPSIA country program focuses on rural development, agro-ecology and microenterprises, specifically providing trainings on sustainable agriculture for the establishment of communal or kitchen gardens; access to water for domestic and agricultural uses (sand dams, boreholes, rainwater collection systems, rock catchment tanks etc); promotion of value chains suitable for the communities such as milk, honey, aloe, Opuntia Stricta and fruits; trainings on sustainable livestock management and Natural Land Resource

Management. These actions aim at building climate-resilient livelihoods and food systems, improving the economic conditions of rural communities in Kenya by safeguarding the environment and encouraging resilience to climate change.
