President's Letter Hola Kentwood Key Club! Writing to you all as a profoundly nostalgic KWKC president today—as this is my last President’s Letter ever! It’s crazy to see how fast this year has blew past, to say the least! I remember drafting my first letter in the comfort of my own home while jamming to TikTok tunes uncertain of how this year would go, and now typing this up in sweats with senioritis ready for graduation. (Not so fast Lauren, AP exams first). I’d like to start out by thanking you for your continuous engagement with us in this unexpected year. From the Teams meetings to the virtual service events, to the constant emails from me, you guys have stuck with us through it all and I cannot express into words how much that means to me and this club. Of course, it’s unfortunate that we had to experience a year of no in-person DCON and the fact that I have never met some of you in person, but I hope you all recognize that Key Club has never before been in this situation that we were thrown into, and what we made of it is something impressive to be proud about. Not only does this letter signal the end of my Presidential term, but also my Key Club journey. Through this club, I’ve discovered deeper passion for community service, grew strength in leadership and public speaking skills, and met so many role models and friends. Key Club is really the place to foster this potential and I sincerely hope you will take this opportunity to be more involved at school and beyond.

President's Letter A majority of the incoming officers are the ones who have served alongside me and I can sense their strong capabilities through this rocky year. I’d like to welcome Emi, your new President-elect, who’s been with me since the beginning of Key Club and handing this prez baton off to her promises a fun and exciting inperson Key Club experience for you all next year! I have no doubt all the officers will do an outstanding job leading this club to growth and success and be a guide for our new FundComm officers! To my innies, I am absolutely ecstatic to see what you all will do and achieve. Wrapping up with a couple of updates, seniors please email me or Mr. White if you are interested in obtaining a senior cord! Members, please finish strong and submit your hours asap! I will continue to be at meetings for the remainder of the year, so feel free to say hi or email me anytime with questions or to chat! In love & service, Lauren Ma Lauren Ma KWKC 2020-2021 President

Editor's Note Hello hello, Kentwood Key Club! Welcome to my fifth and FINAL issue of Conqueror's Keys for the 20'-21' term! To say this marks my one-year anniversary of being the KWKC editor is insane. Last year, I had no idea how my first term was gonna turn out. But if I could go back and tell innie editor Jill how it went, I'd probs tell her, "lots of video chats, texts, and editing in PJs". But regardless, I'm beyond proud of myself and my board for continuing to lead and serve as we would've if we were all physically together! If you haven't noticed, I've written every single Editor's Note in quarantine. In them, I've shared what I've been up to, life updates, and the scoop of being an editor in lockdown. I wonder how different these notes are gonna look once quarantine's over. To be completely honest, I doubt much will change. Pandemic or not, I never leave my house LOL. But if I do all of a sudden decide to change my name, move to a new country, and live a totes glam life, well, you'll know where to read about it! If you've made it this far in the note, thank you. For every single read, skim-through, or even glance you've taken at my newsletters this year. I create these newsletters for our club members. For you! To help y'all stay up-to-date on all things KWKC during this crazy time (and entertain y'all with my monthly shenanigans) makes all this worth it. So with that being said, here's to the end of the term, and cheers to the new one! I look forward to this new start, and I'll see you again as your editor for the 21'-22' term! (You didn't think you could get rid of me yet, did you?)

In love and service, Jillian Canolo Jillian Canolo KWKC 2020-2021 & 2021-2022 Bulletin Editor

Meet Your New Board! Emi

President

Hi Key Clubbers! I'm Emi and I'm so excited to be your new president! I can't wait to see everyone's faces again and be able to participate in fun service events. Some fun facts about me are that I taught myself how to crochet in quarantine and I'm addicted to shopping at Target!

Kristy

Vice Presiden t

Hi everyone! My name is Kristy and I'll be serving as your VP for the year 21'-22'. Since it's my last term, I want to make the most of this year whether it's in person or not. My goal to be able to assist the prez as much as I can, but also bond with members no matter where we are! I'm beyond excited to see the growth of myself, my board, and members. Some fun facts about me are that I play tennis, I want to live in NY one day, and I almost set my house on fire making waffles.

Lam

S ec re tar y

Hi everyone! My name is Lam, and I'm your secretary for the 2021-2022 school year! I have many goals for this year, but one of them is communicate with others and create larger service projects that'll be fun and enjoyable for everyone. I want you guys to have a memorable key club experience and communicating with each other is a big part of that. On my free time, I like to play tennis, video games, listen to music. and hang out with my friends. Once again, communication is very important to me, so please do not hesitate to contact me!

Meet Your New Board! Andrew

Treasurer

Hey guys! I'm Andrew and I'm your treasurer for the 21'-22' KC term. If you don't know me, I'm Vietnamese, I love to play video games (been really into Valorant), and I love watching anime. I'm very excited to begin my second term as treasurer. In this next term, I hope that we will be able to have fundraisers in person and lots of great events with this year's new fundcomm. I also wish to lower the cost of DCON, because I want you all to apply without worrying about money issues. Feel free to contact me if you have any suggestions for fundraising events/questions!

Jillian

B u ll e ti n E d i to r

Hello hello! I'm Jillian, your editor for the 21'-22' term! I'm so excited for my second and final year as KWKC editor, and I'm hoping to continue to create, edit, post, and publish all the necessary deets needed to ensure a lovely KC experience. Y'all already know lots about me from my Editor's Notes, but here are some things you may not know: I'm internationally ranked on Just Dance, I love A24 films, and I can do a *superb * British accent. If you have any questions regarding KC socials, newsletters, etc. I'm your gal! Cheerio love!

Michael

W eb ma ste r

Hey everyone! I'm Michael and the webmaster for the term 2021-2022. My goal for this term is to be able to create a calendar for the website while making it aesthetic and easy to access for everyone. As for my interests, I started to love reading books again as a result of the quarantine. I've also been trying to discover more kinds of music that I might like, so feel free to contact me if you have any questions for the website or just want to recommend music to me!

Meet Your New Board! Inderpreet I want to give back to our community and the best way is to interact with people and step outside of my comfort zone. Being in this position as funds head will let me do just that and more. Talking and interacting with others is great not just for our community but also for stronger connections, as negotiating and Fundraising Head strategizing will form bonds and hopefully will be able to make things like fundraisers yearly and widespread.

Justin

FundComm Officer

Hey guys! I'm Justin, one of your Fundcomm members for the 21'-22' term. Being a KC member throughout high school helped me grow as a person, so I'm stepping into this position to support the club that's supported me most. In my spare time, I try to play tennis every second I get. I'm always itching to do some type of outdoorsy activity. I'm also really laid back so feel free to contact me or come up and talk to me about anything at any time!

Macy Hi everyone! I’m Macy and I’m part of this year's fundcomm. I’m super excited to get to know everyone and make new memories together! A few things about me: I’m a music lover FundComm Officer and singer, and I am Japanese-American. Can’t wait for a great year with you all!

Damon

FundComm Officer

Excited for the opportunity to get more involved in the club next year! Quick Fun Facts: I can sing Cantonese songs, but don’t know how to speak it, I was born in an entirely different hemisphere, and my arms are of uneven length.
