PRESIDENT'S LETTER Hey guys! Hope ya'll are having a great summer so far! Our board has currently been attending Northwest Harvest on weekends with Kentridge Key Club. If you ever want to sign up or are interested in attending please ask me or Erin for more information. Also, we have Chief for a Day on August 16th which is another great service opportunity. Remember any service hours you perform during the summer can be counted as part of your 15 hours in order to be a key club member. Secondly, we will be selling vinyl stickers soon in order to raise money for our thirst project! So keep on the lookout for those this summer! Last but not least, we have Key Club Day North which will be held on September 8th at Wild Waves Theme Park. This event is for all Key Clubbers, non-Key Club high schoolers, and incoming members. Tickets will be available at door but will go offline on August 26th at 11:59 pm. See page 7 for more details! Have a great rest of your summer! We will see you soon :) In Love and Service, Vivian Ma Volunteering in Costa Rica!

EDITORS NOTE Hey Key-uties! Not going to lie, I'm a little upset that Summer 2k18 is coming to an end. Â These past few months have been filled with a ton of memories. So I thought it'd be appropriate to keep this months newsletter summer themed! However, I'm super excited to get back into my normal routine of waking up and sleeping at a reasonable time. I've been sleeping really, really late almost everyday. But, the fun isn't over yet! We still have meetings, stickers that the board has been working on, and events like Key Club Day North to look forward to. I hope you guys make the most of what's left of the summer and enjoy reading the newsletter! As always, please don't be afraid to give feedback to make our future newsletters better. In Love and Service,

Jhacinda Caoagdan

Hello Toasty Dragons! I’m Caroline and I’m the co-head of this year’s kwkc fundraising committee alongside with my good friend Jason Tran! I am currently a senior and this is my 4th year in Key Club! I joined fundcom because it is my passion to fundraise and I think that I would be a good asset to the committee since I really enjoy setting up and organizing events. On my free time I love to sing, especially in the shower, lol! I look forward in doing more community service, making new friends and to raise lots of money for our club this year! Stay toasty! xoxo, Caroline Amkhavong #WeMakeMoneyMoves #StayKeynected

COMMITTEE RACHEL AMPALLOOR

Hello! My name is Rachel Ampalloor and I’ll be a senior this year at Kentwood High School. I took the exciting opportunity to become part of the fundraising committee this year because I’ve been in key club for 3 years and I finally decided that I wanted to be more than just a member. I also enjoy getting to meet new people in this committee. And I love money too! Aside from money, I love being a part of Kentwood’s yearbook staff, taking part in leadership, drawing, chocolate, and most importantly, I love my dog.

This summer I go t the once in a lif e time opportunity to ex perience Arab cu lture in Dubai. This pictur e was taken in th e Sweihan Desert.

REBECCA CHHOY I decided to join the fundraising comittee because i want to contribute to key club’s existence somehow. In this case, it was financially supporting and funding for key club! A fun fact about me: I have a weird fear of butterflies Here's a pic of m e and my family at Disney Land

ICON & AWARDS Every year, just like DCON, Key Clubbers from all over the world gather for the Key Club International Convention. The 75th annual ICON was held this year in Chicago, Illinois from July 4 to July 7. Along with convention activities, the PNW attendees did tours of Chicago on July 3 and 9, including the Frank Lloyd Wright House, seeing fireworks on Lake Michigan, and eating out and fancy restaurants. During convention, we attended workshops, had meet and greets, voted for our 2018-2019 International Board, and listened to speakers. Additionally, Kentwood Key Club won 1st Place Non-Traditional Scrapbook at DCON this year, and was able to compete in the NTS competition at ICON. At the end of the convention, our scrapbook won 3rd place at International!
