André Mathieu’s Piano Concerto is full of romantic melodies and fabulous virtuosity. Sibelius’ wonderful First Symphony concludes the evening.

Edwin Outwater, conductor Stefan Jackiw, violin Missy Mazzoli: Violent, Violent Sea Beethoven: Violin Concerto in D major Beethoven: Symphony No. 6 in F major, Pastorale Beethoven’s music is full of thunder and drama, but in this concert we examine the sublime side of this great composer. The Sixth Symphony and the Violin Concerto are works that breathe and deeply move us. They are hypnotic and transporting.

T   chaikovsky’s Second Piano Concerto is a rarely heard virtuosic blockbuster.

After playing together in the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, they explored the intersections of classical, jazz, pop, Indian, African, Indonesian and Latin American music. Then the Barenaked Ladies happened, and their lives were never the same. Subscription tickets will be mailed starting in August, 2012. Subscribers may purchase single tickets ahead of the general public on July 10. Single tickets are available to the general public on August 15.
