WELCOME HOME MURSU
Take a deep breath, close your eyes and imagine the years ahead of you: you are about to start your studies at Aalto University School of Business! Many would love to be in your position but you are among the lucky ones who got accepted. In many schools, first year students are called “fuksis”. Since the early days of KY all freshmen have been called “mursus”. Be proud of the title, it isn’t an easy one to earn. It means you are part of an ambitious and unique group – congratulations!
Aalto University Business Students, or KY to be more familiar, is the home of business students in Otaniemi, a one of a kind community that is a bond between us all. Founded in 1911, KY has provided its members with services, student advocacy and memorable experiences for over 110 years now. The pages of this guide reveal what kinds of things KY does to enrich and improve the student life of yours and other students. Because of KY’s diverse selection of activities and associations, everyone can find something for themselves. I encourage you to familiarize yourself with various activities to find your place in the KY community. All present degree students at Aalto BIZ can join KY for free! More precise instructions are on page 10.

Why should you then join KY? As a member of KY you are entitled to participate in all KY events such as parties, career nights and sports events etc. You get to proudly wear KY’s ‘dollar green’ student overalls that you get to purchase during the orientation week with the help of your tutor. In addition to this, KY advo- cates for your interests at School of Business, provides versatile volunteering opportunities and offers benefits through our partners.
And finally, some advice from me
It is said that studies are the best time of your life. With all my heart, I can stand behind this claim. You have probably studied somewhere else earlier but your new environment here is still different.
Take care of your wellbeing. During orientation week you will hear and do a lot, which may feel overwhelming. Take your time, relax and leave time for activities outside of school.
Stay open minded. You will hear about all that KY has to offer you. These opportunities are a great way to find your place in our community and find friends.
Enjoy your time. There is no rush. You have worked immensely to get into the most sought after school in Finland. Studying at Aalto and being a KY member will bring a lot of new people and experiences into your life. Take the opportunity!
KY is here for you, so, if you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me, chairperson@ky.fi. I wish you, new Mursu, unforgettable and memorable moments at KY!
