Dear Mursu, Congratulations for getting into Aalto University School of Business! You are going to have an amazing time ahead of you.

It has been a few years since I opened KY guide myself, eagerly waiting for my studies and student life to begin. As an Aalto BIZ and KY alumna, I am sharing a few tips with you:

• Balance is the key – focus on your studies and study well, but remember to also have fun!

• Participate in student organisation activities you find interesting! Gaining new skills, networks and friendships never hurts.

• Stay open-minded, share experiences with others and above all, study subjects you find genuinely interesting. Don’t be afraid to change the direction of your studies based on your evolving interests.

Through my studies, I’ve found my own career in the field of IT and consulting. I am privileged to have a job I find truly interesting and rewarding.

What is Helsingin Ekonomit?

Helsingin Ekonomit, The Finnish Business School Graduates Helsinki Section, originally founded in 1935 by former KY members, offers you many opportunities to succeed. We add value to your student time by providing you a wide range of events and courses where you can get inspired and develop your skills. We also provide you a networking platform: Helsingin Ekonomit has approximately 17 000 members with whom you can discuss, spar, brainstorm and create meaningful relationships. Our members are business graduates from all over Finland and abroad.

The main objective of Helsingin Ekonomit is to support the professional and personal skills of its’ members and to act as a networking platform among business graduates and students.

Helsingin Ekonomit has 18 clubs, each of which focus on a certain field of business: finance, accounting, marketing, digitalization and management to name a few. The clubs collaborate with KY’s subject clubs. Our 170 volunteers create relevant content for business students and graduates by organizing events and doing various other activities.

How to benefit from Helsingin Ekonomit?

• Events: As a business student, you are welcome to attend any of the 150 events we organize every year. Our events are divided into three categories: professional development, company visits and wellbeing. Most of the events are free for students. You may find a mentor or meet your dream employer by attending them. Check out our events at helsinginekonomit.fi!

• Ekonomi Summit: The main event of the year, Ekonomi Summit, brings together over 1000 business students and graduates from all over Finland and abroad. This year Ekonomi Summit is organized on Friday 22nd of September. Mark your calendar and get your ticket at ekonomisummit. fi!

• Scholarships: Helsingin Ekonomit grants scholarships every year for business students. Application period for scholarships is in October. Follow our social media channels and stay tuned!

• Get involved: In addition to attending our events, you can also join one of our clubs or working committees. By joining a club or working committee, you can network with business graduates, organize interesting events, and have fun.
