Johns Creek is an active and vibrant swim, tennis, and golf community whose residents both enjoy and expect a wide range of events and activities. To meet these important needs each year, the city hosts events that draw thousands of people to our award winning community.

Many attendees live here, many are return visitors, and many are joining us for the first time. Our events and activities also serve as an integral and unique way for us to meet, educate, entertain, and spend time together as a community.

The City and our Recreation and Parks Department will continue to offer a wide variety of family friendly events for everyone’s enjoyment.

Our busy annual schedule provides a wide variety of events, featuring concerts and movies under the summer skies, athletic leagues, fitness classes, adaptive recreation programs, as well as the city’s International Festival, Diwali Festival, and Lunar New Year Celebration.

Johns Creek is home to more than 85,000 residents and is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the state and nation, representing many countries and cultures from around the world. In 2018, the Council debuted the Johns Creek International Festival, highlighting multiple cultures from all over the world and drawing crowds from metro Atlanta with a full day of food and performance. Now in its fifth year, the festival welcomes more than 16,000 people annually.

Determined not to stop there, the city added a Diwali Festival, Lunar New Year Celebration, a Juneteenth event, and is looking to further expand its cultural event line-up over the next few years.

Our popular concert series at the Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater in Newtown Park is another highlight of our season. Since 2014, the City has offered free concerts featuring a fun and varied line up of musical acts that cross cultures, styles, and genres for music lovers of all ages.

Our public safety departments are in on the action as well. The Johns Creek Police Department hosts an annual 5K run, which is an important qualifier for Atlanta’s Peachtree Half Marathon. Proceeds from the 5K benefit Special Olympics.

From our annual Easter Bunny Hop, and the ever-popular Movies at Newtown Park series, to our Independence Day Celebration, and annual holiday festivities and parade in November and December, we hope to provide a brief respite from busy schedules to enjoy all that our welcoming community has to offer.

Community Garden

Open to any Johns Creek resident interested in planting and maintaining a small garden plot, Newtown Community Garden features 41 raised beds for planting flowers, vegetables and herbs.

Individuals or groups can sign up for one or more beds, each measuring four feet by eight feet by 12 inches high. For older gardeners, there are beds that measure 36 inches high that require less stooping.

Located within Johns Creek’s Newtown Park (near the north entrance), the Newtown Community Garden is open year round, starting with spring planting in April.

Membership in the Johns Creek Garden Association, which operates and manages the garden, is required, along with a small fee. Each participating gardener provides seeds or plants for their plot. The City of Johns Creek pays for the water.

For more information contact the Johns Creek Garden Association at JohnsCreekGardena@ gmail.com or visit the City of Johns Creek website at www.JohnsCreekGA.gov.

Applications and rules are available on the Garden Association’s website at http://sites.google.com/site/johnscreek gardenassociation/

Parks and green space within the city of Johns Creek are two of the greatest assets and resources the city could have. Today, there are many miles of trails perfect for walking, biking, running, rolling, or taking a leisurely stroll. Visitor to our parks can catch a concert, watch a movie under the stars, join a team sport, visit the new Wall that Heals at Newtown Park Veterans’ Memorial, or check one of the city’s newest park, Morton Road Park.

The City of Johns Creek currently has nine developed parks: Newtown Park, Shakerag Park, Autrey Mill Nature Preserve, Ocee Park, Morton Road Park, Bells-Boles Park, State Bridge Park, Creekside Park, and Cauley Creek Park.

Bell Road Pocket Park

The pocket park at the roundabout at Bell and Boles roads totals 2.5 acres. It features a butterfly garden, large open green space, and a stone labyrinth.

Cauley Creek Park

After nearly 18 months of construction, Cauley Creek Park opened to the public in June 2023. This stunning 200+ acre park features a 5K rubberized trail, lighted sports courts, lighted grass and synthetic turf playing fields, pedestrian bridge, and river overlooks.
