Strengths—Denik excels at making partnerships, collaborating with artists, and selling their products in retail stores. They are carried by several big name companies such as Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom and can be found in countless bookstores accross the country.

Weakness—Currently Denik isn’t selling online like they could be. They have a small social media audience with mediocre engagement and lack a sense of community or “tribe” behind their brand.

MESSAGING

BRAND

Website

Denik will shift it’s messaging away from simply selling products to selling a bold lifestyle of rebellion, authenticity, and creative expression.

Denik will refresh it’s visual brand with a brand that is more adaptive, minimal, and bold so that it scales better accross platforms and mediums.

Denik will do an overhaul of the website in order to increase conversion rates, reflect the new brand, and be the home to new marketing efforts.

MESSAGING In all of denik’s messaging they will make the audience the hero, not the brand. Even though Denik does amazing things, they will downplay their signifance and rather highlight individuals—the dreamers and the doers who are hustling every day to be creative. This isn’t about Denik, this is about the movement for creative rebellion.

This isn’t just about art on the cover of a sketchbook, this is about rebellion from the mundane—about creativity that aches in the bones. This isn’t a brand, but a movement and it all starts here in this notepad. #SoItBegins

BRAND The current brand is strong and has served the company great up to this point but it has a few problems. The logo doesn’t read well when it’s small, is awkward in social media avatars, and isn’t clear when used with the phrase “art can change the world” as to which is the company and which is the tagline. The brand also lacks defining brand colors and recognizable typography. Moving forward Denik will embrace a visual design system the starts with the logo and carries it’s way through all marketing, products, social media and eccomerce platforms. This will help connect the brand online and give the movement of brand ambassadors a better feeling of “tribe” and deeper a sense of belonging.

WEBSITE The current webiste for Denik lacks strong visual hierarchy and doesn’t carry the same energy and success as the rest of the brand. The new webiste will embrace simple UX, clarity in it’s messaging, and speed in loading and shopping.
