about CABI CABI is a not-for-profit science-based development and information organization. We improve people’s lives by providing information and applying scientific expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment. CABI helps address the challenges of food security by helping farmers grow more and lose less. Our mission and direction is influenced by our 48 member countries who help guide the activities undertaken. These include scientific publishing, development and research projects and microbial services. Our activities directly contribute to achieving global development objectives, particularly those concerned with food security, environmental sustainability and sharing knowledge.

what CABI does scientific and development projects our staff research and find solutions to agricultural and environmental problems. We use science, information and communication tools to help solve issues of global concern. We particularly focus on: • improving food security by improving crop yields • safeguarding the environment by combating invasive plants, diseases and insects and finding natural alternatives to pesticides • supporting trade by helping countries overcome barriers • improving access to agricultural and environmental knowledge to support farmers, extension workers and governments microbial services We house a collection of over 28,000 species of fungi, collected from around the world. We use this resource and the expertise of our scientists to offer a range of services to business, including; microbial identifications, sales, preservations, patenting, training, consultancy and more. publishing CABI is a global leader in creating and publishing information that supports research into the life sciences and improves scientific practice – including CAB Abstracts, the Global Health database, many online information resources and a growing list of books and eBooks.

who CABI works with We work for and with universities, national research and extension institutions, development agencies, the private sector, national and local governments, charities and foundations, farmers and non-governmental organizations.

where CABI works We have over 375 staff based at our centres or offices in China, Ghana, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Pakistan, Switzerland, Trinidad, UK and the USA. And, at any one time we are working in over 70 countries throughout the world.
