CONTINUING DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY | Line 2

Image 1: Freeze the moment Metadata Shutter Speed Aperture ISO

1/800 F 5.6 320

DRUM Description This is bus 342 driving past me at the bus stop.

Recognise This image was taken free hand and as you can see I have used photo shop to bring down the sun light in the photo to make it less lens flare and make it sharper and more like a proper photo.

Understand The image was shot at 1/800, f5.6 and 320, this is because of the way the light was set and the time of day I was in, these were all preset on the sports setting because the bus was driving by.

Motivation The motivation for this picture is just to take a picture of whatever was driving by me to show freeze in motion.

Evaluation Plus The edited phot looks better with better, sharper colours. Minus Interesting

Image 2: Show the motion Steel Wool

Metadata Shutter Speed Aperture ISO

30th F 11 100

DRUM Description This image was taken in Hughes. I have zoomed the shot in with the camera before taking it.

Recognise This is a closer image and I have used a tripod to get the slower shutter I needed to make this stand out. By doing this I can have a still photo and see what is going on without any camera shake. To get the effect that I did, is I got someone to hold a rope with a whisk on the end of it and we put the steel wool into the whisk and I started to spark it with a lighter. The other person then spun the whisk which give it the cool effect.

Understand The shot was taken out doors, at about 830 at night. The histogram is saying that this photo is on the left side of the graph and that there is not much white but there is plenty of mid-tones and low tones.

Motivation My motivation for this is what I have seen done by other photographers and I am always up for a challenge and to try something new with my camera (safety permitting)

Evaluation Plus Even though this is the first time I have done this it has worked like I hoped it would. Minus I should have had a smaller zoom on this so that I could see more. Interesting

Image 3: High Key Watch

Metadata Shutter Speed Aperture ISO

1/200 F 6.3 800

DRUM Description This image was taken in the studio. As you can see I have cropped this image.

Recognise The image was shot using the tripod in the studio and I have taken this from above the item. As you can tell with the two photos that I have cropped it and I have put it on an angle so that is makes it look somewhat more interesting than the first photo.

Understand The image was taken in the studio so I have put the ISO on 800. The focus length on the camera is 146.0mm. With this photo I also used my bigger flash on my camera, to give it more light. I used some studio lighting. This photo is sitting on the right hand side of the histogram but it is not pure white, although there is some the majority is sitting off pure white.

Motivation The intention for this photo was to get some sort of product shot although it wasn’t the best shoot I have done, I can see where I can next time work on what I have done and improve.

Evaluation Plus The crop would be a plus because it removes all the extra, boring stuff from the photo and pulls us in tighter so that we are more focused on the watch itself rather then what is around it. Minus A minus for me would have to be how it is focused, its good and all but I can see that I should have seen that the focus is a bit out around the 6 o’clock mark in the watch (bottom). Interesting Interesting is the way the blue in the watch has worked out, I really like how you can see a light streak in the watch.

Image 4: Low Key Carillon at Night

Metadata Shutter Speed Aperture ISO

1/15 F 4.5 3200

DRUM Description This image was taken on the left side of the Carillon.

Recognise This image was shot using a tripod.

Understand This shot was taken outside late at night and I had a play around on the manual setting till I got the photo I wanted. I got this photo with the settings at ISO 3200, since I was outside, F4.5 and shutter at 1/15 so I could have plenty of light hit the sensor.

Motivation Well the motivation for this is that I was driving by and I say a great photo opportunity and I was super keen to get down to it and take a photo.

Evaluation Plus There is a nice reflection in the water of the Carillon Minus The moon is only a small crescent moon Interesting You can see the trees with the help of the light that is next to them.

Image 5: Close up Bus 338

Metadata Shutter Speed Aperture ISO

1/80 F 5.0 2500

DRUM Description This image was taken in a bus while I was on a run with a friend, the picture is of the wiper arm on the steeling collar. In the picture you can see the gear selector and some of the controls.

Recognise This image has been taken through the steering wheel at the wiper arm.

Understand This shot was taken in the afternoon and the ISO set at 2500 give us plenty of light, while the F stop gives us the focus we were after. The shutter speed is 1/80 this is good because I was taking this free hand.

Motivation The motivation was just to take a shot that worked well with the theme and this is the one that I see that fits best.

Evaluation Plus It has the correct focus to fit with the brief. Minus I probably changed the F stop so that the gear selector was in focus a bit more to make the photo look better. Interesting

Image 6: Wide angle Metadata Shutter Speed Aperture ISO

1/50 F 29 200

DRUM Description This image is taken of the bench seat at my bus stop.

Recognise This image is taken on the left side of the seat facing back down away from the stop. You can also see a man walking along the street.

Understand This image was taken on the AV setting so u set the aperture to f 29 at a zoom of 29mm. the ISO and shutter speed were chosen by the camera accordingly.

Motivation My motivation for this was leading lines that are around my suburb, and why not the bus seat that I see every day.

Evaluation Plus I like the sun light giving it that affect saying that this was taken in early morning. Minus The light pole is not very nice, but it’s part of the street. Interesting That there is a man walking by.
