Providing affordable and accessible programs, services and events in the urban and rural hamlets has and continues to be one of County Council’s top strategic priorities in building a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable community to live, work and play.

Lac La Biche County strives to provide a multitude of programs and services to enhance the quality of life for all county residents. The 2022-2032 Strategic Plan emphasizes this with the following goals in mind:

Economic growth service excellence strategic communication

50+ Strengthen and Stretch Programs

Join others 50+ for morning walks and talks on the Canadian Natural Track, followed by a 30 minute strengthen & stretch class to improve strength and flexibility on Mondays from 9:30 – 10:00 am.

Access to Canadian Natural Walking Track

Hundreds of users access this free service year-round. Bring a clean pair of runners, sign in at fitness desk and away you go!

Prescription to Get Active (RxTGA) Program

Offered in partnership with Lakeland Primary Care Network (PCN) and Associated Medical Clinic, patients can be prescribed activity to increase activity levels and reduce chronic conditions.

Community Garden Plots

40 plots of raised beds are available at Alexander Hamilton Park for residents to grow their own plants and produce. Forms available on Lac La Biche County website.

Lac La Biche County believes in supporting groups and initiatives that enhance and strengthen our community. The County offers a wide range of grants and funding opportunities every year.

Take your pick, there’s multiple community events, awareness days, workshops and initiatives coordinated and offered by Lac La Biche County and other non-profit groups throughout the year. Dust Abatement for rural residents (application deadline is April 30 annually)

Emergency Alert System App –sign up at laclabichecounty.com to be notified of emergencies in your area.

Fair Access Fee Assistance Program

Improving access with one application - income should not be a barrier to participation – see pg 11 for details.

Family Community Support Services (FCSS) programs

FCSS focuses on prevention and early intervention social service programs. Funded in partnership between Lac La Biche County and the Province, FCSS has served Albertans for over 50 years! Find out more on pages 29 to 37 or https://www.facebook.com/llbcountyFCSS

Fit Start - Gym Smart Orientation

Complimentary 30-minute overview of machines & cardio equipment in Cenovus Fitness Centre (*for new users) *pre-arranged appointment required – stop by fitness desk or call 780-623-6363 to book time.

FireSmart Program

Fire Smart assessments, wood chipping and grant available for local residents.

Park & Play Fun Van

Popping up at many community events throughout Lac La Biche. Free for non-profit organizations/ community groups hosting community events (one booking per year). Book the Fun Van for added excitement & activities.

Recreation Equipment

Borrow racquets, balls, disk golf equipment, and more (free for members, collateral or deposits may be required to ensure equipment is returned).

Runner Reuse Program –need a pair, borrow a pair. Donate a pair of gently used runners and receive a complimentary pass.

Spay Neuter Incentive Program (SNIP)

Provides 50% rebate incentive for spaying and neutering your pets to help reduce overpopulation. Details and applications forms can be found at www.llbrhs.com/snip

Super Seniors 70+

If you’re over 70 years and want to remain active, you are eligible for the Super Senior membership which provides free general admission to County recreation facilities.

Toy Lending Library

FCSS operates a free toy lending library out of the childminding area in the Bold Center. Switch out toys, games, puzzles, and resource kits free to all area families.
