LANE SWIM open to Adults 16+ years wading pool is available for parents and tots

OPEN ICE IS AVAILABLE when arenas are not booked for rentals, maintenance or special drop in skates, and ends 30 minutes before building closes. Times are subject to change. Please view the live schedule using the QR code, or contact us at 780.623.3829 for daily/hourly availability.

Curling can be a great sport for all ages!

Levels of Intensity | Each fitness class is rated by its difficulty. To learn more about which classes are right for you, look for the dumbbell icons.

For absolute beginners. A bit more advanced, but suitable for all levels. Challenge yourself.

REGISTER NOW FOR A FITNESS CLASS!

Morning Mix

Weights, barre, cardio, bands, balls? Sometimes we just need to mix it up. In this fitness session, you will be guided through a variety of exercises that are sure to hit all the right areas. Each class will have a different theme leaving you feeling energized.

HIIT 30

Timed intervals featuring a variety of core, power, strength, and endurance training; this lunch time class will help you HIIT it and quit it in 30 minutes helping you to increase that post exercise calorie burn well into the rest of your day.

Healthier You 12 Week Challenge

Session I: Presentation: Nutrition, exercise training, stress management, body weight and measurements (optional). Participants will receive a 12-week nutrition and activity journal, recipes, a personal exercise program (4 to choose from), and a 30 min session with the trainer.

Session II: Fitness session and mid-way check point. Session III: Fitness session/workshop and 3rd check in point.

Minimum of 6 registrants to maximum of 14

Dates: 3 session series: January 14, February 25, April 8

Time: 6 – 7:30 pm (for each date)

Location: Bold Centre

Cost: $75 per participant

ALL ADULT FITNESS WORKSHOPS ARE OPEN TO THOSE 16+ YEARS.

Youth aged 13-15 years may register and attend when accompanied by a parent/guardian over 16.

Growing Minds 2.0

This 5-session program teaches strategies for developing resiliency and a growth mindset for tweens (age 10-12). Having a growth mindset means being able to view your struggles as opportunities to learn and grow. Using the resource ‘Big Life Journal’, tweens will be guided through fun and engaging learning activities that are designed to help them develop gratitude, confidence, competence, and motivation to have a can-do attitude. Session materials, snacks, and beverages are included.

Dates: February 26, March 3, 12, 17, 26

Time: 4 – 5:30 pm

Fitness Alberta – Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association Courses

Earn the skills and industry recognition you need to succeed as a group exercise leader. Our group exercise certifications are evidence-informed, nationally recognized, and internationally portable.

NOTE: We recommend that you are enrolled in, or have completed, the Foundations in Physical Activity and Exercise Course before taking any specialty courses.

Group Conditioning Specialty Course

Learn how to plan and deliver effective group conditioning classes in this 16-hour course, topics include:

• anatomy

• muscular strength and conditioning

• metabolic training

• exercise analysis

• safety and the effective use of portable equipment

• class planning and cueing

Dates: April 5 & 6 (Sat & Sun)

Time: 8 am – 5 pm

Location: Lac La Biche – Bold Centre (Viewpoint Room)

Cost: $330

Manuals included: Methods of Group Exercise Instruction and NSCA Strength Training

Group Cycle Specialty Course

Learn how to plan and deliver effective group cycling classes in this 8-hour course, topics include:

• bike set-up and safety

• instruction and cueing

• cardiovascular conditioning

• pedaling, cadence and posture

• safe and effective movement drills

• use of music and choreography

Dates: Saturday, April 26

Time: 8 am – 5 pm

Location: Lac La Biche – Bold Centre (Viewpoint Room)

Families that play together, stay together

Searching for some low cost, family fun activities to do over the holidays? Look no further… check out our top 10 list below to keep you and your family members entertained, active and healthy this holiday season:

1. Free access to the Canadian Natural Indoor Walking Track (please check in at fitness desk).

2. Stop in for Sponsored skates during the holidays (refer to rink schedules for times/ arenas on page 2).

Try ice fishing on one of the many lakes in our beautiful region.

4. Explore the network of groomed trails (Sir Winston Churchill Park and Shaw Lake) for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing (follow LLB Nordic Ski Club on Facebook to find out more about their new ski rental program).

5. Go skating at one of the many outdoor rinks in the County (can you find all 7 of them?)

6. Stay cool in the pool with the variety of public and lane swim times, or come for Sunday toonie swims. Don’t forget about our New Year’s Eve Glow Swim on Dec 31 from 1-4 pm.

7. Build a snowman (or snowwoman) or make snow angels in your yard.

8. Play time is fun time at the Cenovus Play Centre (see indoor playground hours on page 2).

9. Read a good book, play lego, or borrow a musical instrument or toy from the Stuart McPherson Public Library.

10. Have smores and hot chocolate over a fire under the stars.
