El Campamento runs from Monday, 12th September to Saturday, 24th September 2016.
ACCOMODATION IN JINOTEGA We will be staying in La Guacamaya which is located 142 kilometers from the International Airport Augusto C. Sandino in Managua. You can follow this link to see some photos of the bedrooms and conference rooms: https://guacamayajinotega.wordpress.com/ (don’t be confused about the name – the Guacamaya is a part of La Cuculmeca). To the city centre, it is ca. 20 minutes of walking. La Cuculmeca/la Guacamaya is located on a little hill surrounded by houses and little shops. Here will also take place the Campamento. The accommodation includes:

AIR TRAVEL ARRIVAL AND CONFIRMATIONS Participants will be picked up from the International Airport by a driver of La Cuculmeca. The driver will meet you upon your arrival and will take you to La Cuculmeca (the drive lasts two hours). Please look out for a person who has written “La Cuculmeca” on a board as you exit the arrivals terminal after the luggage collection area. If you encounter serious problems at the Airport, please call Jana Firouzkhah (82367450). Please note: You have to pay 10$ to enter Nicaragua. CURRENCY Exchange rate from US dollar / euro to Cordobas: 1 USD / 1€ = 28 / 30 Córdobas currently. There are forex bureaus at the arrival terminal at the airport. It is not recommendable to change your money there, because the exchange rate is higher. If you will exchange cash or travelers check you will need your passport. CLOTHING September is cool, considered mostly rainy and with thunderstorms in Nicaragua. The temperature may range between 19°C nights and early morning to 30C. ELETRICITY AND PLUG INFORMATION Electricity in Nicaragua is supplied 120 Volt and 60Herz. Most of areas in Nicaragua are experiencing power fluctuation, irregular power cut or low voltage. Nicaragua mostly uses the rectangular blade multi plug with two rectangular blades. You will need an American plug. MOBILE PHONE When you buy a sim card here, you can use your mobile phone. You are able to have access to Internet with your original sim card (whenever there is wifi).

SECURITY Like many other cities in the world, Jinotega also has its share of personal security problems and you are advised to take the necessary precautions to avoid being the victim of crimes: Leave your valuables in the safe at La Cuculmeca Only carry small amounts of money Be careful when using credit cards Only use recognized taxi services In general, the people in Jinotega are hospitable (welcoming), calm and kind. At night: When you walk outside the district Daniel Teller (where La Cuculmeca is located) or the city centre you should nevertheless walk in couples. Be vigilant and aware of your surroundings at all times.
You should not drink tap water in the first days of your stay. You can buy agua purificada/purified water from the nearby shops. (For your beverages in La Cuculmeca will be used agua purificada.)
TRANSPORT Airport drop off transfers will be arranged for you. For to and from within town, you can walk or drive by taxi. You should ask for the price and remember the cab number on the car door before you enter the cab.
