PRESENTS YOU THE SPECIAL REPORT ON THE XIII EDITION OF THE SWR BARROSELAS METALFEST…
Once more we bring you the special report about the SWR Barroselas Metalfest, now in its thirteenth edition! This is the third time that Metal Horde Zine tries to give to all of you a little inside look of what‟s going to happen in Barroselas! You have bios, photos and logos of the forty-six bands that will step the stages of Barroselas alongside small interviews with most of those bands! If you have read one of these special reports before you know that there are three questions that were made to all bands! Only changing from Portuguese to foreign bands! So, the three questions to foreign bands were: 1- Is this your first gig in Portugal? 2- What are your expectations about SWR Barroselas Metalfest? Do you know anything about this fest? Do you expect a crazy crowd or what? 3- What can the Portuguese metal heads expect from you in stage? Send greetings to all metal fans in Portugal in your own way. As for the Portuguese bands, these were the questions made: 1 - Is this your first gig in SWR Barroselas Metalfest? 2 - What are you waiting of your performance? 3 - What do you think about this fest, with 13 years of existence? French band Celeste doesn‟t put it too easy when it comes to labels! Their sound has all the ingredients of Black Metal but you have to think on something like Wolves in the Throne Room to be near what they sound like! Raised in 2005 this quartet already released three full lengths, one per year beginning with „Pessimiste(s)‟ in 2007, then „Nihiliste(s)‟ and „Misanthrope(s)‟ the latest and probably what, Johan (Vocals), Guillaume (Guitars), Antoine (Bass) and Royer (Drums) will show in Barroselas this year!
1- Yeah, it's the first one, and we're pretty excited to discover a new country. 2- Doing a metal fest is a way for us to play in front of a different audience than usually. We're not unknown in the metal scene, but I'd say that people interested in hardcore are more used to know us. I just saw some flyers on the Internet and looked to a few vids. A crazy crowd would be perfect. But before all, open minded audience is the best to have. 3- Actually we're not a lot into playing in a big stage, and further more not into playing by day. But we'll find our way to feel at home on stage. We just hope to make something heavy! Let's hope that everybody will enjoy the show!
One man band hailing from Wisconsin in the USA, Putrid Pile was raised in 1995 by Shaun LaCanne (Guitar/Vocals)! His first work only would see the light of day in 2001, under the name of „Bleed for Me‟, a five track demo of the most sick and tortured Brutal Death Metal! Two years later it was time for the debut full length, „Collection of Butchery‟ followed in 2005 by „The Pleasure in Suffering‟ the second album and a split with fellow country mates, Dyscrasia! 2009 saw the release of third album, „House of Dementia‟ out by Sevared Recs!
1- No actually. The first time i played in Portugal was in Dec. of 2009 for the Butchery At Christmas Time fest that my brothers from the band R.D.B. threw there. i had a great time and talk to may interesting and friendly people. It was a "blast" and i had a great time in Guarda! I can‟t wait to see all of my new friends again! 2- Honesty i really don‟t know too much about the festival, but I‟m looking forward to seeing some new faces and also some old ones to party with and drink some beers together (and also check out the beautiful women that turn out to the show as well! We all know there‟s a lot of them there! ;) Im expecting a crazy crowd for
sure though. Portugal definitely knows how to party! That‟s for sure..... 3- Well all of the fans there in Portugal can expect an awesome and energetic live show from Putrid Pile for sure. I had some tech. difficulties the last time i played there and the crowd beared with me. I promise that wont happen again. i thank all of the people that stuck around and checked out my show for the BACT and raged with me for my set. Technical Brutal Death Metal band hailing from Germany, Defeated Sanity has struggled in the Underground since 1994! They begun raping the crowd ears in ‟96 with the demo, ‟Devoured by the Black‟ followed by another one in ‟98 called „Withdrawn From Beauty‟! Before their debut full length that was released in 2004, called „Prelude to the Tragedy‟, they released a split with Czech band Poppy Seed Grinder in 2002 and with Brazilians Imperious Malevolence in 2003! Their second album appeared in 2007 by the name of „Psalms of the Moribund‟ followed by a four way split in 2010 with Venomed, Splattered Orgasm and Moonfog, and their third album, „Chapters of Repugnance‟ scheduled to be out in May of 2010 with nine tracks of pure blast and brutal Death Metal! After a couple changes in the line-up nowadays they are: A.J. Magana (Vocals), Jacob Schmidt (Bass), Christian Kúhn (Guitars) and Lille Gruber (Drums).
1- Yes, it's our first time and we are looking forward to that fest very much. 2- We've been contacted by the fest a couple of times during the last years and always wanted
to play but it didn't work out until now for some reason. We have been told great things about the crowd and the festival in general. 3- We will of course put on a great death metal show, don't miss it!
“Sweden veterans finally play in Portugal”, this could be the announcement made when Vomitory confirmed their presence in the XIII SWR Barroselas Metalfest. Formed back in 1989 their first work was a self titled demo in ‟92 followed by the „Moribund‟ EP and a „Promo‟ in ‟93! One year later, time for their third demo „Through Sepulchral Shadows‟! „96 saw the release of their first full length „Raped in Their Own Blood‟ followed three years later by a split 7‟ with Murder Corporation! After that, six more albums to go beginning with „Redemption‟ in ‟99, „Revelation Nausea‟ in 2001, the first out by Metal Blade Recs, „Blood Rapture‟ in 2002, „Primal Massacre‟ in 2004, „Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize‟ in 2007 and „Carnage Euphoria‟ in 2009, ten tracks of the pure old school Death Metal! With some ins and outs through the years, they nowadays are Urban Gustafsson & Peter Östlund (Guitar), Erik Rundqvist (Bass/Vocals) and Tobias Gustafsson (Drums).
Veterans of the Swedish scene, General Surgery started practicing their Goregrind/Death Metal in 1988! In 1990 they released three demos „Erosive Offals‟, „Pestiferous Anthropophagia‟ & „Internecine Prurifence‟ before putting out in 91 by Relapse Recs the famous EP „Necrology‟! Strangely shortly after, the band would disband and would only get to life again in 2003 releasing a split with North American band The County Medical Examiners! 2004 saw the release of the four-way split with Deceased, Disrupt and Destroy, a split EP with Australians Filth and another with Spaniards Machetazo! In 2005 they released a demo that led to a contract with Listenable Recs and a year later „Left Hand Pathology‟ the debut full length was out! A split with Japanese Butcher ABC in 2009 preceded the second album „Corpus In Extremis: Analysing Necrocriticism‟ out in the same year! After many line-up changes they are today Erik Sahlström (Vocals), Joachim Carlsson & Johan Wallin (Guitars), Andreas Eriksson (Bass) and Adde Mitroulis (Drums)!!
1- No it‟s not the first time for us, we played at a small festival outside of Porto in 2008. 2- We think we will have a great time, audience in south of Europe has always been very good to us. We don't know that much about the fest, we think its a bigger festival now than what we actually thought when we got booked to do the show. 3- A goresoaked performance filled with old school Swedish death metal and blasts from the past.
1- Yes this is actually our first gig in Portugal since the band started twenty years ago, believe it or not! 2- We hope that the weather will be great and that the people that watch our show will have a great time! We actually don´t know so much about this festival but we expect the Portuguese fans to be crazy and passionate people. 3- They can expect pure death metal mayhem! All we can say is come see our show and you won´t be disappointed!
Taint are a Stoner Metal trio formed in 1994 in Wales by the same guys that still are in it today, Jim Bob (Guitar/Vocals), Al (Drums) & Chris West (Bass)! Their first demo came out in 1995 under the name of „Bellydown‟ releasing then a couple more until the end of the century, „Rough Recordings‟ in 96 and ‟10 x Better‟ in 97! In 2000 they released their first EP, „Die Die Truthspeaker‟ followed by a couple splits, in 2002 with fellow countrymen Black Eye Riot and in 2005 with Uk based Army of Flying Robots! That year they signed with Lee Dorian‟s label Rise Above Recs where they started with „The Ruin of Nova Roma‟ followed in 2007 by „Secrets and Lies‟! They will be in Barroselas showing their latest release „All Bees to the Sea‟ an EP with four songs that was released last year by themselves!!!
1- SWR will be our second time Portugal. We played the Bracara Extreme fest in '07, and it was lots of fun. We played two nights, and played our entire 'Secrets And Lies' album on the second night. 2- We're not sure what to expect from SWR. Although, I'm sure the Portuguese head bangers are a passionate and dedicated bunch of folk. I can imagine a few beers in the sun will help you guys go crazy that day for sure. 3- It's a very extreme lineup, and we'll be providing a different approach to heaviness. So hopefully people will watch with open minds. Either way, we'll deliver an energetic and sweaty performance and we're humbled to have the chance to play for such a large Portuguese crowd.
KK Null, real name Kazuyuki Kishino, comes from Tokyo, Japan! He is the composer, guitarist and mastermind behind Zeni Geva, also present in SWR, and solo he‟s one of the top names on the Japanese noise and experimental scene! In his career he has more than 100 albums released including solo, bands, collaborations and compilations so it would be nearly impossible to put it here all of them! I will only focus on the last year where he released a split CD with Deison, a full length called „Extropy‟ and a collaboration with John Wiese! For all industrial, noise, electronic fans this is your gig!!
1- I played @ TRAMA festival in Porto in October 2009 and my band ZENI GEVA played in Lisbon and Lagos in 1996. 2- In fact I didn't know of the festival before but looks and sounds awesome. I'm very much looking forward to performing there! 3- As you may know KK NULL is not a typical "heavy metal" band, it's more experimental electro noise solo project, but I hope people have open mind and enjoy my music and performance.
Justin Rousselle (Drums) released what‟s is until today their latest album, „Dystopia‟, eleven tracks of a highly technical Death Metal!!
This Sludge Metal duo coming from the state of Georgia in the United States of America formed in 1995, soon started to be spoken in the Music media with the release of their EP in 96 called „Superman‟! Their full length debut was released afterwards under the name of „Calling All Cars on the Vegas Strip‟ two years later! A couple more EP‟s, „Lambs‟ in 2001, „War Bird‟ in 2004 and a full length in between, „I Name You Destroyer‟! They would then sign with Relapse Records with whom they released their third album, „If Thine Enemy Hunger‟ in 2006 and the latest until today, „L‟Autrichienne‟ out in 2008! The duo that never changed is from the first day, Amber Valentine (Guitar/Vocals) and Edgar Livengood (Drums)! Last year they released a split EP with New York rock band, J.A.C.K, „Birds of a Feather/Obliterator‟!
1-This won't be our first time in Portugal, but we are really looking forward to coming back. 2- We haven't been to Barroselas Metalfest before so not sure exactly what to expect, but Portugal's metalheads are awesome so i think it should be pretty crazy. 3- Black sludge, thrash, doom, grind, played loud with a lot of sweat + headbanging! We're very happy to say we'll be visiting in Portugal with our new album 'Throned in blood' and especially excited to be part of such a great festival we can't wait!!
Tech Brutal Death Metal it‟s what we can expect from this Canadian band! Formed in 2004 in Montreal, Beneath The Massacre soon would register their first work, „Evidence of Inequity‟ an EP out in 2005 that earn them a contract with Prosthetic Records with whom they would release their first album, „Mechanics of Dysfunction‟ in 2007! A year later the band that consists of Christopher Bradley (Guitar), Dennis Bradley (Bass), Elliot Desgagnés (Vocals) and
1- Yes it is our first show in Portugal. We wanted to play here for years but this our first opportunity and we jumped on the occasion. 2- I only heard good things about the Portuguese crowd. It‟s a shame that is our first trip. But I don't like having expectations, I rather keep my mind open to whatever it is going to be like. 3- We're a very intense band live. We try to be as intense as possible. We bring it and we expect crowd participation cause its live that heavy music takes all its meaning.
Formed in 2004 in France, Nesseria is one of those bands very hard to describe has their sound mutates from track to track! It‟s intense Music raised to its extreme! They made their debut in 2004 with a self titled demo followed by a split CD with Grizzly Twister in 2006! A year later they released a four way split alongside Fuck the Facts, The Crinn and World Downfall in vinyl and 2008 saw the release of a three way split cd with Cyberne and Mu Neujohn and a split cd with Venosa! Finally in 2009 they released their debut album simply called „Nesseria‟! The band consists of Greg (Drums), Julien (Bass/Vocals), Jerome & Ben (Guitars) and Adrien (Vocals) and when they arise in the stage of Barroselas don‟t expect nothing but the un-expectable!!
1- Yes it is. We played in Spain last year, and we were supposed to play some gigs in Portugal, but unfortunately they got canceled. So we're very happy we can finally go there. 2- The SWR looks awesome. Great bands, big fest... Hell in heaven. So for sure, we're waiting for a crazy crowd! We've been told Portuguese audience is a great one. 3- We'll do our best to show our passion and dedication, and hopefully blow you away with blasting sounds! So, to all metal fans in Portugal, prepare your ears for bleeding. And good Porto bottles please.
Doom/Death Metal is what we can expect from Mourning Beloveth, a veteran band coming from Ireland! Formed in 1992 they would release their first work in the shape of a demo called „Debut‟ in ‟96 soon followed by another one, „Autumnal Fires‟ in ‟98! In 2001 they would release their debut full length „Dust‟ out by Brón Recs, followed by „The Sullen Sulcus‟ one year after and a split with Lunar Gate in 2003! The year of 2005 saw the release of their third album „A Murderous Circus‟ and in 2008 it‟s released „A Disease for the Ages‟, five tracks and almost an hour of heavy Doom/Death Metal! They suffered some casualties along the way but nowadays they are of Darren Moore (Vocals), Frank Brennan & Pauric Gallagher (Guitars), B. Roche (Bass) and Timmy Johnson (Drums).
1- Yeah we have played Portugal twice before, firstly on our Doomination of Europe tour in 2004, we played in Evora on a stage built in the grounds of a University, it was a great night and we fell in love with the place, the fish, the super bock and the cheap wine..and it was a big crowd at our first gig in Portugal. We played with local heroes Process of Guilt. We returned again in I think 2007 and played Évora again with Process of Guilt and we also played in Lisbon...The Evora gig was fun, we were all slightly the worse for wear after too much time in the sun, nothing to do with the drinking beforehand and we even had some Irish friends at the gig who were holidaying at the time..the gig in Lisbon the next night was a lot better and we were sober, it was a venue near the river, can't remember the name at the moment but I remember the late drinking session afterwards alright hahah....so 3 gigs in all and we are really looking forward to gig number 4, the beer, the wine, the sun and the doom....should be great. 2- Having played in your Portugal before, we know you guys are all true and die hard metal fans, whether it be Death, Black and hopefully even Doom metal Fans!!! So hopefully we will see some of you guys down the front for our set, some crushing Doom under the Sun is always good! Even though we are "Doom" metal, we are still METAL fans ourselves,
and give it 110% when on stage, always. Trust me, you won‟t be disappointed if you check us out. Our friends and Countrymen ABADDON INCARNATE played SWR a few years back, and had nothing but great things to say, both about both the festival itself, and that fans that attend it. So we cannot wait to hit SWR!!!!! 3- When we hit the stage, you can expect nothing less than 110% Death/Doom Assault! We love what we do, and believe in it to the Death! we meet the dedicated sons of Satan, the warmongering diehards there surely and many have written us already. They seem prepared for the upcoming annihilation. Sludge Doom quartet hailing from Lisboa Men Eater were formed in 2004! Two years later they would release their self titled EP and that would lead to a deal with Raging Planet with whom they already released „Hellstone‟ in 2007 and „Vendaval‟ in 2009, both powerful albums of a somewhat mixture of Sludge and Stoner Doom Rock! Having played a lot live these guys nowadays are Miguel (Guitar/Vocals), Carlos Azeitona (Guitar), João (Bass) and Carlos BB (Drums).
Singaporean veteran act Impiety was formed back in 1990 by Shyaithan (Bass/Vocals)! Their first release was a self entitled rehearsal in ‟91 followed by the „Ceremonial Necrochrist Redesecration‟ in ‟92! One year later it was time to release the EP „Salve the Goat…Iblis Exelsi‟ and in ‟96 their debut album „Asateerul Awaleen‟ was out! Three years later, time for another album „Skullfucking Armageddon‟ and a split with Profanatica! In 2002 they brought us „Kaos Kommand 696‟ the third album followed in 2004 by the split with Surrender of Divinity and the album „Paramount Evil‟! The EP „Funeralight‟ was the next release out in 2006, then time for the first live album „Tormentors of Tijuana‟ and the full length „Formidonis Nex Cultus‟ both out in 2007! In 2008 they released ‟18 Atomic Years – Satanniversary‟ a double cd compilation followed in the same year by the split with Abhorrence and the EP „Dominator‟! Finally in 2009 they released their sixth album „Terroreign‟ and this year a 6‟‟EP box set called „Goatfather‟! In the live set Shyaithan is joined by A War (Guitar) and Andrea Janko (Drums).
1- Yes, this is our first, we had already invitations for past editions but only this year it came true. 2- If it depends on us you‟ll see the same as all Men Eater sets… Rock, Heavy and lots of humbleness in what we practice. 3- Well yes… some years have passed… It‟s good to see that there are still people with the will to organize heavy music fests and give bands and followers opportunities like this. Sometimes it isn‟t easy to organize but I believe that if it lasted all these years it‟s because they have lots of will and they like what the organization does! And it is for us, without doubt, a big honour to be a part of this event.
1- Yes it will be the first atomic Live desecration for IMPIETY in Portugal. The closest was Spain back in 2000 when we first toured Europe. And we've done 4 euro tours over the years so this will be a special moment to set foot there for the first time. 2- Yes, actually we got invited few times now but possibilities were not right at that moment in time. I've heard it to be a really promising fest in terms of crazy crowds, etc. Important is
Haemorrhage come from Spain, more precisely from Madrid and to put here all the releases of this Goregrind outfit would be like just one page for them!! So trying to resume, they were formed in 1990, released their first demo „Grotesque Embryopathology‟ in ‟92 and after that one two more: „Scalpel, Scissors and Other Forensic Instruments‟ in ‟95 and a self titled promo in ‟98! Seventeen splits with bands as Exhumed, Christ Denied, CSSO, Dead Infection, Damnable, Denak, Groinchurn, Ingrowing, Embolism, Suffocate, Obliterate, Gonkulator, Mastic Scum, Depression, Impaled, Terrorism, Nunslaughter, Embalming Theatre, Dead and Black Pathology! In 2000 one EP „Loathesongs‟ and three best of/comps were regurgitated! In
2007 they released one live album „The Kill Sessions‟ and five full lengths, the first was „Emetic Cult‟ in ‟95 then „Grume‟ in ‟97, „Anatomical Inferno‟ in ‟98, „Morgue Sweet Home‟ in 2002 and „Apology For Pathology‟ in 2006! The pathologists are Ramón Checa (Bass), Lugubrious (Vocals), Luisma & Ana Lopez (Guitars) and Daniel Lopez (Drums).
1- No is the second one we already played at Barroselas some years ago. 2- We expect a good festival as always in Barroselas, cool people, good beer..that's all we need. Yes we know the crowd is crazy there. We could experience this in the last time. Portuguese fans are very similar to Spanish fans. Our feeling in Portugal is like we are at home. 3- They can expect what is usual in our shows: noisy fucking grindgore and all our feeling in our music. We will give til our last blood drop for that people!! A big greetings from our stinky morgue to all fans in Portugal......STAY SICK!!!
Young Portuguese band trailing the paths of the Melodic Death Metal formed in 2007! Suffochate last year released their first work, the EP „No Mercy In His Eyes‟ with four tracks of a modern Death Metal! This Northern youngsters are Carlos (Vocals), André S. (Bass), António & Jorge T. (Guitars) and Pedro S. (Drums).
1- Yes, this is going to be our first time in SWR Barroselas Metal Fest. Our participation there has to do with Wacken Metal Battle Portugal where we are one of the five finalists band. 2- Ouch… When we knew we were going to the final national contest and that we were going to
play in SWR Barroselas Metal Fest we almost didn‟t believe! We were completely surprised and, without a doubt, it was very motivating to hear this! It gave us even more strength to keep working. We wait, above all, enjoy the opportunity and give our best on stage! It‟s going to be a great chance to enrich our concert curriculum and to show our work! 3- To us it is a very respectable Fest! SWR Barroselas Metalfest is without doubt one of the best fests that we have here and one of the fests that has evolved more along the years. We don‟t need to say more, just look for the poster of the first edition and compare ir to this one‟s!... Moreover, we already worked with SWR inc. guys and they are excellent professionals and really nice guys! We are anxiously waiting for the 2nd May to go on stage!
Mithras is an UK based band formed in 1998 under the moniker Imperator! With that name they released the demo „Gods Among Men‟ in 1999, changing in 2000 to the actual Mithras! Released a couple demos, „Dreaming in Splendour‟ in 2000 and „Bequeath Thy Visons‟ in 2002 before unleashing the first full length, „Forever Advancing… Legions‟ also in 2002! Two more followed up, „Worlds Beyond the Veil‟ in 2003 and four years later, what is until today their latest release, „Behind the Shadow Lie Madness‟, twelve songs of Brutal Death Metal in your face!! The band after some ins and outs nowadays is formed by Leon Macey (Guitar/Drums) & Sam Bean (Bass/Vocals) being they helped live by Ben White (Drums)!!
1- Yeah it'll be our first and we're really looking forward to it! 2- We've heard great things about the festival, from other bands who've played, acquaintances and fans of extreme music; we're expecting a great crowd and hopefully some hot weather (fingers crossed!)
3- The festival goers can expect some extreme, pummelling death metal mixed with some unique and eerie ambience! We‟ll See You at the fest!
Brutal Death Metal band hailing from Braga, Decrepidemic were formed in 2002! Their first release was the „Rehearsal CD‟ in 2003 followed only in 2007 by the single „The Prophecy Begins‟! In 2009 they signed with Sevared Recs being their first collaboration „The Void of UnExistence‟ out that same year, eight tracks of American influenced Brutal Death Metal! After some changes in the line-up nowadays they are Angelo (Vocals), PG & Banjo (Guitars), Zombie (Bass) and Diogo A (Drums).
1- This isn‟t the first time, we already performed in SWR 10. 2- It is a vague question but I‟ll try to answer. Our expectations towards acting in the fest are like the one of the other bands: give the maximum and give a great concert to those who will come to support Decrepidemic and the Fest. 3- We have accompanied the fest since it‟s fourth edition and it‟s a pleasure to see that each year the Fest grows a lot. In what concerns the environment of the Fest, I love it! It‟s the mythical environment of a metal fest where you can see and know bands that are still in their first steps and on the other hand bands that have their name already carved in the Stones of Metal. I truly advice all those who like this kind of music to come and know SWR.
Young Scottish band Cerebral Bore were formed in 2004 in Glasgow, releasing a year later the demo, „Proselytes‟! After some changes in the band, they released one more demo, „The Dead Flesh Architect‟ in 2006, four songs of Brutal Death Metal influenced by the American school! After some more changes in the line-up, the band nowadays consists of Davie Culbert (Vocals), Paul McGuire (Guitars), Kyle Rutherford (Bass) & Allan MacDonald (Drums)!
1- No, we played in 2008 at butchery at xmastime. 2- Personally i know very little about the fest besides that the organizers are some of the best in the country! 3- They can expect a half hour ferocious hyper speed death metal drenched in piss and stinking of haggis. We really look forward to meeting everyone and playing for you all, so come and hang out with us and don‟t be shy!
Portuguese Doom/Death Metal band Process Of Guilt has risen from the Portuguese underground to the world in 2002! Their first releases were the demos „Portraits of Regret‟ in 2002 and „Demising Grace‟ in 2004! That lead into a contract signing with Major Label Industries with whom they would release their debut full length in 2006 called „Renounce‟! 2009 saw two releases by the band, first the split with UK based band Caina and after that their second album, „Erosion‟, almost an hour of dark and destructive tunes!! The four destructors are Hugo Santos (Guitar/Vocals), Gonçalo Correia (Drums), Nuno David (Guitar) and Custódio Rato (Bass).
1- This will be our second participation in this fest. The first time we performed here was in 2007 in the X SWR. We keep very good memories of that edition either because of our performance, the public reaction or because of all the environment of the fest. 2- Our last album «Erosion» is still recent so our participation will focus on the promotion of this release, so we are obviously anxious to show some of our music to the SWR audience. 3- SWR, for the history that it already has, for the bands it brings, for the people behind the organization and for the real “degradating” environment it creates, is still one of the best examples of what we do here regarding extreme sonorities. Our only wards can only be of support and appreciation!
Thrash/Death band hailing from Madeira Island, Portugal, Karnak Seti were formed in 2001! They released four demos being „Cosmic Fate‟ in 2003 the first and „Stranded by Existence‟ in 2008 the last, in between „Karnak Seti‟ was out in 2004 and „Collateral Dreams‟ in 2005! Finally in 2009 they released their debut full length „Scars of Your Decay‟, a self released cd with eight tracks of a melodic Thrash/Death! With some changes along the years, they nowadays are Luis Erre (Vocals), Claudio Aguiar (Bass), Reno Ramos & António Jesus (Guitars) and Luis Barreto (Drums).
1- Yes, this is our first participation in SWR although we are on the line-up because of the W:O:A: Metal Battle. 2- We simply want to show our work to a new audience since it will be our third concert outside Madeira and very few people have listened to our music. 3- We were never at Barroselas as an audience so the only opinion I can give is towards the band choices of previous editions that always tend to please several musical tastes inside Metal. They have been capable of maintaining this Fest for 13 years and apparently each year it is stronger, I have to congratulate the organization. It would be very positive to be a part of the venue on the next years and in other circumstances.
Formed five years ago in the Southern part of Portugal, Prayers of Sanity walk the path of Thrash Metal! They debuted with a demo in 2007 called „Tuned to Thrash‟ followed two years later by their first full length „Religion Blindness‟ with eight tracks of furious US based Thrash! The horde consists of Tiao (Vocals/Guitar), André (Guitar), Pit (Bass) and Bruno (Drums).

Grindcore band Nashgul was formed in 2002 to play the most sick, brutal and fast music possible! They debuted with a split in 2002 with Beltain, followed by a self-entitled demo a year later! After thar, they released a bunch of splits with Japura Noise Project in 2004, From The Ashes and with Sewn Shut in 2006, Anti Hero and World Downfall in 2007! In 2007 they also released „Humanicidio‟ a compilation of their tracks and finally in 2009 their first full length was out „El Dia Despues Al Fin De La Humanidad‟, nineteen tracks of the sickest Grindcore! From the beginning until today they are Santi (Vocals), Hector (Guitar), Luis (Bass) and Ivan (Drums).
Arriving from Israel, Orphaned Land is a group that mixes Middle Eastern Folk and Metal! Formed back in 1991 they debuted with „The Beloved‟s Cry‟ a demo released in ‟93 followed a year later by their debut full length „Sahara‟ out by the French label Holy Recs! ‟96 saw the release of the album „El Norra Alila‟ and then silence… It stopped in 2004 with the release of the EP „The Calm Before the Flood‟ soon followed by the album „Mabool‟ both released by Century Media! They would release an EP „Ararat‟ in 2005 and in 2010 the fourth album called „The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR‟ was out! The band is Kobi Farhi (Vocals), Yossi Sa‟aron & Matti Svatizky (Guitars) and Uri Zelcha (Bass), in live performances they are helped by Shlomit Levi (Female Vocals) and Matan Shmuely (Drums).
1- We played a few times in Portugal and we are happy to be back. 2- We remember the Portuguese crowd was crazy and we hope to see as many as possible. 3- Orphaned Land will take you all to a magical journey in the middle-east! 1- No, we already played in other Portugal fests like Bracara Fest and Caos Emergente. 2- We know more and less what we are going to find there cos we already been there 2 o 3 times before, some of us even playing…….we expect cheap beer, lot of metalheads, party til late, meet old friends and having a fuckin good time. Coming from Barcelos in the north of Portugal, Black Bombaim play Stoner Rock instrumental! They debuted in 2007 with a demo just called „Demo „07‟, six tracks of pure instrumental Rock! In 2009 they released their second work, now a self titled EP out by Lovers & Lollypops and Sonic Infusion Recs! The band consists of Ricardo (Guitar), Tojo (Bass) and Senra (Drums)!
1- Yes, this will be the first time we will step on SWR Barroselas Metal Fest stage. 2- We hope that people like the concert, that they enjoy themselves and, although we don‟t play a style that is similar to the other bands, we will give our best and try to surprise positively those who don‟t know us.

Making their twentieth birthday this year, what a better way to celebrate them, than playing in the XIII SWR? That‟s what happens with Portuguese Heavy/Black Metal outfit Decayed! Formed back in 1990, one year later they would release the „Dark Rehearsal‟ followed by the „Thus Revealed‟ demo! ‟93 saw the release of their first EP „The Seven Seals‟ and their first album „Conjuration of the Southern Circle‟! In the next seventeen years they would release six more albums „Ressurrectióne Mortuórum‟ in ‟96, „The Book of Darkness‟ in ‟99, „Nockthurnaal‟ in ‟01, „The Beast Has Risen‟ in ‟03, „Hexagram‟ in ‟07 and „The Black Metal Flame‟ in ‟08 and also six more EP‟s „In Lustful Mayhem‟ in ‟95, „Behold the Wrath‟ in ‟97, „Satanic Blast‟ and „Hymns To Satan‟ in ‟02, „Remnants.. Of A Past‟ in ‟04 and „Hell-Witch‟ in ‟07! Besides all that, they still they had time for some splits with bands like Alastor, Corpus Christii, Nargaroth, Apolokia & Godless North, Abigail, Urn, Xerión, Darkness and Thugnor, four live albums and four best of/comp! Decayed always has been the strength and will of one man, JA (Guitars), being nowadays accompanied by K (Bass), W (Vocals) and VA (Drums).

One of the big names of SWR XIII, Dying Fetus was born in 1991 in Maryland, USA by the hands of the only founding member that still remains, John Gallagher (Guitar/Vocals)! Nowadays he has the company of Sean Beasley (Bass) and Trey Williams (Drums)! The first
demo was out in 93, „Bathe in Entrails‟ soon followed by „Infatuation With Malevolence‟ in 94 and then by the first full length, „Purification Through Violence‟ in 96! More five would be added until today, „Killing On Adrenaline‟ in 98, „Destroy the Opposition‟ in 2000, „Stop At Nothing‟ in 2003, „War of Attrition‟ in 2007‟ and the latest one, „Descend Into Depravity‟ in 2009! In between they would still get time to release the „Grotesque Impalement‟ EP in 2000 and the split with Finnish band Deep Red in 2002! Signed since 2000 by Relapse Records expect only the most Brutal Death Metal shredding in stage!!

Coming from Japan, Zeni Geva is one of those bands very hard to define! Their sound is a mix of Prog and Hard Core and they are doing it since 1987! They debuted with the tape „Skullfuck Live‟ in ‟87 followed in the same year by their debut album „How to Kill‟! In ‟88 they released a couple more tapes „Vast Impotentz‟ and „Live On Suicide‟ and albums „Maximum Love & Fuck‟ and „Maximum Money Monster‟! 1991 saw the release of the album „Total Castration‟ followed by their first single, „Bloodsex‟! As for ‟92 „Live in Amerika‟, „Nai-Ha‟, a collaboration with Steve Albini and a split with Lewd were released! In ‟93 they released „Desire for Agony‟, the EP‟s ‟Disgraceland‟ and „Autofuck‟ and the split with Palace Contribution, one year later „Trance Europe Experience‟ and the splits with X-Rated –X and Meathead were out! In ‟95 „Freedom Bondage‟ was out, alongside the single „Implosion‟! We got to hear them again only in 2000 when they released „10000 Light Years‟ album followed in 2002 by the live album „Last Nanosecond-Live in Geneva‟! „Alive and Rising‟ is the latest album released in February of this year! The band suffered some changes over the years but nowadays they are Tatsuya

Death Metal horde Immolation coming from the United States started back in 1986 under the moniker Rigor Mortis! Under that name they released three demos „Peace Through Tyranny‟ and „Decomposed‟ in ‟87, „Warriors of Doom‟ in ‟88 and the EP, „Holocaust‟ in ‟90! After the change of name to Immolation they released their first album „Dawn of Possession‟ in ‟91 followed by the compilation „Stepping on Angels... Before Dawn‟! After that they unleashed seven albums beginning with „Here in After‟ in ‟96, „Failures for Gods‟ in ‟99, „Close to a World Below‟ in 2000, „Unholy Cult‟ in 2002, „Harnessing Ruin‟ in 2005, „Shadows in the Light‟ in 2007 and finally „Majesty and Decay‟ in 2010, and still had time in between for the EP „Hope and Horror‟ in 2007! After some ins and outs the band nowadays is formed by Ross Dolan (Bass/Vocals), Bob Vigna & Bill Taylor (Guitars) and Steve Shalaty (Drums).
1- No we have done a few shows in Portugal and they are always a great! We look forward to coming back again! 2- Looking at the line-up it looks like its going to be a heavy show and I would expect a crazy crowd for sure!!! Representing the humor in Grindcore this year we will have in Barroselas Birdflesh a Swedish trio formed back in 1992! The band debuted in ‟94 with the demo, „The Butcherbitchtape‟ followed by a couple more, „Demo of Hell‟ in ‟95, „Fishfucked‟ in ‟97 and „We Where 7 Who 8 Our Neighbours on a Plate‟ in „98! Then they started the splits and let me just say they released a few eight between ‟99 and 2007 with bands as Carcass Grinders in 99, Squash Bowels also in 99, The Dead in 2001, The Kill in 2003, Embalming Theatre in 2004, Catheter in 2004, Splatterhouse in 2006 and Hatebeak in 2007! As for albums the first one was released in 2001 called „Alive Autopsy‟ followed by „Night of the Ultimate Mosh‟ in 2002, „Mongo Musicale‟ in 2006 and finally „The Farmer‟s Wrath‟ in 2008, twenty six songs of hyper speed Grindcore! Almost forgetting the two EP‟s they released „Trip to the Grave‟ in ‟99 and „Carnage on the Fields of Rice‟ in 2002 and a couple live tapes „Killing Rosenkeller‟ in 2004 and „Happy Fun Sumo Sandwich‟ in 2007! By the way, they are „Smattro Ansjovis‟ (Drums/ Vocals), „Achmed Abdulex‟ (Guitar) and „Panda Flamenco‟ (Bass), so prepare yourself for the killing because Birdflesh are coming to SWR!!
1- Yes, this is the first time for Birdflesh in Portugal and we are looking forward to it. 2- I think this fest is very popular in Portugal. From what I have seen from the previous years, the line-up has been very good with some very big names. We always hope for a crazy crowd but you can never take it for granted. I hope we have some fans in Portugal that will make the show a blast. 3- We always give 100% on stage. We will look stupid as always and play our thrashing grind core. San Francisco is one of those towns that will always be recognized when speaking of Music and more when speaking of Metal and Grayceon comes from there!! Raised in 2005 this Progressive Metal/Rock trio debuted with an untitled demo in 2006 followed a year after by their debut album „Grayceon‟! 2007 saw the release of a split 7´with Giant Squid and 2008 the second album, „This Grand Show‟!! The trio formed by Jackie Perez Gratz (Electric Cello/Vocals), Max Doyle (Guitars/Vocals) and Zack Farwell (Drums) will debut in Portugal on the zero day of the XIII SWR!!

Black/Thrash band Aura Noir coming from Norway was formed in 1993 by some well known musicians of the Nordic Metal scene! In that year Apollyon (Immortal, Cadaver, Gorgoroth) and Aggressor (Ved Buens Ende, Infernö, Ulver) joined to play the most extreme Thrash Metal possible! In that same year an untitled demo would be summoned and one year after it they created the „Two Voices, One King‟ demo! In ‟95 it was time for the „Dreams Like Deserts‟ EP followed in ‟96 by their first full length „Black Thrash Attack‟, at this time already with the addition of Blasphemer (Mayhem, Ava Inferi) to the band! ‟98 saw the release of „Deep Tracts of Hell‟ and three years later they would release a best of/comp, „Increased Damnation‟ out by Hammerheart Recs! In 2004 they entered in a four way split alongside Nocturnal Breed, Infernö and Audiopain and in the same year they released their third album „The Merciless‟. In 2005 they released one more best of/comp „Deep Dreams of Hell‟ and in the same year they released the second part of the split with the same four bands of the first! Finally, 2008 saw the release of their
fourth album „Hades Rise‟ out by Peaceville Recs, ten tracks of the most destructive Black/Thrash Metal out directly from Hell! Formed in 2003 in the south of Portugal, Birth Signs play a kind of Metalcore with powerful rhythms, groovy riffs and dual vocals! They released their debut EP only in 2009 called „Forever is a Long Time‟! After several line-up changes they are nowadays, Francisco Martins (Vocals), Carlos Guadalupe & David Palma (Guitar), Luis Mendes (Bass/Vocals) and Ruben Azevedo (Drums).
1- Yes, this will be our first participation in SWR Barroselas MetalFest and we are really excited with the idea of making part of an event so important as this one! Specially because it gives the, so called, "garage bands" to expose their work! 2- Our expectations are really high because we are participating has a finalist band of the W:O:A Metal Battle Portugal and if we win this contest we will play at WACKEN! Darsombra is the pseudonym of Baltimore, USA guitarist Brian Daniloski and his experiences with Doom Rock, Ambient, Noise and more!! His first album was released in 2006 by the name of „Ecdysis‟ followed by the EP, „Deliriums & Death‟ and in 2008 by the album „Eternal Jewel‟ beside a couple of collaborations with other several musicians! So expect the most unique and experimental Music in the zero day of the SWR!

Coming from Bristol in the United Kingdom, this quintet of Brutal Death Metal was formed in 2006! Two years later Trigger The Bloodshed released „Laceration‟ their first EP soon followed by their first album „Purgation‟! 2009 saw the signing of a contract with Metal Blade Recs and the release of „The Great Depression‟ their second album! When Jonny Burgan (Vocals), Rob Purnell & Martyn Evans (Guitars), Dave Purnell (Bass) and Dan Wilding (Drums) arise in the stage of Barrroselas for their devastation we probably will hear new tunes from the forthcoming album „Degenerate‟ scheduled to be released in May 2010!!
1- No, we played Portugal for the 1st time last year in November. We headlined the Sunday of a weekend festival with our friends in Man Must Die. It was a great experience. We were treated really well, the crowd was awesome and the venue was great. Definitely a brilliant
memory for a first show in the country. 2- We have really great expectations for this festival. It is very well known, not only for having consistently good line ups, but for being great fun to play. From speaking with other bands who have previously played the festival and hearing great things, when we spoke to the guys in charge last time we played Portugal, we literally jumped at the chance to possibly be a part of it. We are most definitely very excited. From experience and word of mouth Portuguese crowds are always great. They are really enthusiastic and really seem to love their metal, so we totally can't wait to have some fun with them on the day. 3- Whenever we play live we always give 110%. You can expect nothing less than that. It will be our full live show, including some exclusive songs from the new album. All we can say to the metal fans in Portugal is: Get ready to bang your heads and get fucking crazy with us. It's gonna slay!
Formed just a couple of years ago, Spanish Thrashers Crysys gave much to talk about when they won the Wacken Metal Battle of 2009! Their debut happened in 2008 with the demo „Demonthrashion‟, a three track piece performed by this young quintet consisting of Juli (Vocals), Requena & Busi (Guitars), Mark (Bass) and Javi (Drums).
1- First of all, thanks for your interest in us, and thanks to SWR to bring Crysys to this fantastic festival, it's an honour for us. Of course is the first show in Portugal for us, and we are very excited to play there and show the best of us. 2- We think that this is a big festival where play the big bands like Kreator, Dying fetus... so we are very lucky to stay and play there. Some friends of us ''Legacy of Brutality'' played there last year and told us that's a great festival. Heavy Metal band Saviours coming from California was formed in 2004! One year after they released their first EP „Warship‟ soon followed in 2006 by their debut album „Crucifire‟! In 2007 they released „Cavern of Mind‟ a two track 12‟ EP and 2008 saw the release of their second album „Into Abaddon‟! In 2009 they released three singles „Acid Hands‟, Burning Cross‟ and „F.G.T.‟ and their third album „Accelerated Living‟!! The quartet that will show up in Barroselas is formed by Austin Barber (Vocals/Guitars), Sonny Reinhardt (Guitars), Chris Grande (Bass) and Scott Batiste (Drums)!
1- No, we played in Braga with black cobra in 2008, it was an awesome show and we stayed up drinking with the locals until the morning! 2- I don't know about the fest, never been before, but the line-up is great so we hope there's some Portuguese fucking metal maniacs out to support some great fucking bands. 3- We want to filthy, stoned classic metal to Portugal again, hopefully everybody is ready to rock out and get weird! Really looking forward to it!
Portuguese outfit Revolution Within was formed in 2005 and after four years of rehearsals and live destructions they released their debut album „Collision‟, eight tracks of pure devastating Thrash Metal!! The guys are: Raça (Vocals), Matador & Faster (Guitars), Sono (Bass) and Shaq (Drums).
1- We had already taken part in a warm-up that was in Guimarães but this will be in fact our first presence at SWR Barroselas. 2- We are confident that this will be a “potent” and special day because we will share the stage with lots of foreign bands and obviously the mighty Kreator. 3- This Fest is a reference and it doesn‟t need presentation because it is one of the best in a national level. Even out of the country it is being recognized (and recommended) by mainstream foreign bands.
Caedere is a Dutch band devastating the world with their Death Metal since 1998! Their first release was an EP by the name of „Gore To Banish Fear‟ in 2002 followed the next year by their debut album „Mass Emission‟! After four years of silence they released a promo in 2007 and last year their second album „Clones of Industry‟ out by Grotesque Productions! Expect just pure brutality from Herbert Cats (Bass), Michiel Lankhorst (Vocals), Allard Van Der Kuip (Drums) and Niels Ottink & Thomas Luyken (Guitars) when they appear in the SWR stage!!
1- This will be the fourth show in Portugal. We did the following gigs: 2004 Oct 09 in C.R.P. de Campolide, Lisbon with D‟Evil Leech Project, Goldenpyre, Disharmony‟s Den, Formaldehyde 2004 Oct 08 in Hard Club, Porto with the same bands above mentioned and in 2005 Dec 17 at the Butchery Fest in Guarda with Machetazo, Raw Decimating Brutality, Decrepidemic, Emeth and Holocausto Canibal. 2- It seems that it‟s a pretty big festival and that several thousands of crazy metal maniacs will appear. We heard about the festival before and we are really looking forward to smash the stage. We know from the past that the Portuguese fans are very fanatic!! Two of the most known and prominent musicians from the Portuguese Black Metal underground gathered in 2002 to form Morte Incandescente! I‟m talking about Vulturius (Irae, Flamma Aeterna, Thy Black Blood) and Nocturnus Horrendus (Corpus Christii, Storm Legion, Coldness) that released their first work as Morte Incandescente with the 2003 demo „Ultimatum‟! In the same year they would release their first full length „…Your Funeral‟ followed by a split in 2004 with Krieg and two in 2005 with French band The Arrival Of Satan and Portuguese outfit Onirik! 2005 also saw the release of their second album, „Coffin Desecrators‟ and then it would take five years so they release their third full length, „Relembrando Um Túmulo Esquecido‟! This horde of the most un-pure Black Metal play live with the addition of V-Kaos (Bass), as Vulturius takes care of guitars and vocals and Nocturnus Horrendus takes care of drums and vocals!
1- Yes, this will be our first participation at SWR with Morte Incandescente. We have already been confirmed a couple of times before but for personal reasons on my part we had to cancel. However both me and NH already participated in SWR in previous editions, me with Flagellum Dei and session live member of Corpus Christii and NH with Corpus Christii and Storm Legion. 2- The only purpose of Morte Incandescente is to unleash hell wherever we are. 3- I think it is an excellent initiative that allows the Portuguese audience to see excellent foreign bands some known and some somewhat unknown, and also support Portuguese metal that in other way wouldn‟t be possible to see in the more extreme metal scene.
Young band hailing from Portugal, Besta Bode bring us a delirious blend of Grindcore and Electronics, their sound is maybe what you feel when some part of your body is being ripped
out!! They debuted with a two track EP called „Hexacosioihexecontahexafobia‟, the name says it all!! The maniacs are Filipe Silva (Guitar), Rui Leal (Bass) and Jonathan Saldanha (Vocals/Organs/Programming)! Prepare yourself to be dehumanized!!
1- Yes, this will be our first participation and with an excellent timing since we have just released our first 7‟‟ out by Soopa/Lovers and Lollypops. 2- Besta Bode play a fusion of several extreme music forms with references to doom and grind metal and to tormented composers of contemporary XX century music like Messiaen and Penderecki. So to us it will be very interesting to acknowledge the reception our music will have from the audience witch we believe are metal followers. 3- 13 years is a long time if you take into account a lot of difficulties these kind of events have, so the longevity of this Metal Fest in to be saluted! The fact that some of the names included have only a slight resemblance to metal, like KK Null or ourselves, seems to us also very healthy.
In these next lines we are going to speak of Brazil and Thrash, two things that suit perfectly with Andralls!! Formed in 1998 they debuted in 2000 with the album „Massacre, Corruption, Destruction…‟ followed in 2003 by „Force Against Mind‟ and the live album „Fasthrash Live 2003‟! 2005 saw the release of „Inner Trauma‟ and one year after, the second live album, „Noiséthrash Alive‟ was out!! The fourth album „Andralls‟ was released last year, twelve tracks of Thrash Metal attack!! The band is nowadays formed by Cleber Orsioli (Guitars/Vocals), Eddie C. (Bass) and Alexandre Brito (Drums).
1- Yes, this is our first time in Portugal. 2- Yes, we do know the Fest and we know that it is a very well organized fest and also very well spoken of among bands and audience. We hope that the Crowd is mad to enjoy Andralls a lot. 3 - The crowd can wait for us to play madly a fast, dirty, violent thrash for us will be a very big honor to present ourselves in this fest for the Portuguese Crowd!!!
Sludge/Doom will be a strong genre represented in Barroselas and North Americans Sourvein are one of its warriors! Formed back in 1993, this veteran act made their debut with a split with Buzzov*en in ‟96! Three years later they appeared in a five way split alongside Negative Reaction, Grief, Subsanity and Bongzilla! Also in ‟99 they released their debut full length „Salvation‟ followed in 2002 by „Will To Mangle‟! 2005 saw some activity by the band with the release of a split with Rabies Caste and their first EP, „Emerald Vulture‟! A back to back split with Japanese band Church of Misery was done in 2006 followed by a couple EP‟s in 2008, „Ghetto Angel‟ and „Imperial Bastard‟! 2009 brought us one more split, now with British Blood Island Raiders! Along these seventeen years they had some changes in the line-up and now T-Roy Medlin (Vocals/ Guitars) is the only founding member that still plays is accompanied by Sleepy (Guitar), Boone (Bass) and Ramzi „Simple Man‟ (Drums).

by now Kreator you must be reading the wrong zine! German based band formed in 1982 under the moniker of Tormentor, released a couple of demos under that name „Blitzkrieg‟ in ‟83 and „End of the World‟ in ‟84. In ‟84 they changed the name to the famous one now! In the year after they released a rehearsal where you can find one of the flags of the band, Tormentor and signed with Noise Recs, the rest is history! „Endless Pain‟ in ‟85, „Pleasure to Kill‟ in ‟86, Terrible Certainty in ‟87, „Extreme Aggression‟ in ‟89, „Coma of Souls‟ in ‟90, „Renewal‟ in ‟92, „Cause For Conflict‟ in ‟95, „Outcast‟ in ‟97, „Endorama‟ in ‟99, „Violent Revolution‟ in 2001, „Live Kreation‟ in 2003, „Enemy of God‟ in 2005 and finally, the twelfth album of their career, „Hordes of Chaos‟ in 2009 out by SPV! Besides that they also released some EP‟s as „Flag of Hate‟ in ‟86, „Behind the Mirror‟ in ‟87, „Out of the Dark... Into the Light‟ in ‟88, „Betrayer‟ in ‟89, „People of the Lie‟ in ‟90, „Leave This World Behind‟ in ‟97 and „Chosen Few‟ in ‟00, a split in ‟90, „Doomsday News III‟ alongside Coroner, Sabbat and Tankard and three best of/comps! From the beginning Mille Petroza (Vocals/Guitars) and Jurgen „Ventor‟ (Drums) are still there and are nowadays accompanied by Sami Yli-Sirniö (Guitars) and Christian Giesler (Bass)!
When we speak of the Switzerland Metal scene the main name that comes to our mind is Hellhammer/Celtic Frost and why do I also speak of them? Because Tryptykon is the new project/band of Tom G. Warrior, the main man behind the bands mentioned above! After the demise of Celtic Frost in 2008, Tom G. Warrior (Vocals/Guitars) gathered with long time friend Vanja Slajh (Bass) to start this project that evolved after the addition of Dark Fortress‟ guitarist V Santura and former Fear My Thoughts‟ drummer Norman Lonhard. Their first album is entitled „Eparistera Daimones‟ and was released by Century Media in March of this
year! Expect fresh songs when Triptykon get up on the stage of Barroselas!
Maybe one of the most veteran bands to step on the stage of the SWR XIII comes from Finland and goes by the moniker of Archgoat! Founded in 1989 by Lord Angelslayer (Vocals/Bass) and Ritual Butcherer (Guitar) they released their first opus in ‟91 as the demo „Jesus Spawn‟ was unleashed upon us mere mortals! One year later they released the „Angelcunt (Tales of Desecration) EP and the demo „Penis Perversor‟, all that before the band called quits in ‟93! They would rise again in 2004 releasing one year later the EP „Angelslaying Black Fucking Metal‟ and finally in 2006 their debut full length „Whore of Bethlehem‟ out by Hammer of Hate Recs! 2008 saw the releasing of their split LP with North American band Black Witchery and in 2009 the second infamy was out by the name of „The Light-Devouring Darkness‟ half an hour of the most insane Black/Death Metal that the Portuguese crowd will testify in Barroselas!! Nowadays they are accompanied by Sinister Karppinen on the drum kit!
Pure Nordic fucking Black Metal! This is the least you can expect when Swedish band Setherial arrives in the stage of SWR Barroselas Metalfest! Formed back in 1993, they soon showed their music with the release in ‟94 of the demo „A Hail to the Faceless Angels‟! One year later and it was time for the EP „För Dem Mitt Blod‟ that lead to a deal with Austrian label Napalm Recs with whom they would record three albums „Nord‟ in ‟96, „Lords of the Nightrealm‟ in ‟98, „Hell Eternal‟ in ‟99 and a best of/comp. „From The Ancient Ruins‟ in 2003! In the meantime they would record a split with fellow Swedish mates Sorhin in ‟96! 2003 also saw the release of their fourth album „Endtime Divine‟ out from Swedish label Regain Recs with whom they also released their latest album, „Death Triumphant‟ in 2006! The band suffered some line-up changes so nowadays they are Infaustus (Vocals), Kraath & Thurz (Guitars), Mysteriis (Bass) and Atum (Drums).
So this is it, like you can see not all bands have answered but that‟s just life, sometimes it gets in the way!!
