This map places a 0.5 mile radius around each health center (mapped in red) in the St. Alphonsus area of the Central Bench. The green patches are exiting parks. The only park that falls within his 0.5 mile radius of the health centers in Liberty Park. We used this radius as it represents a reasonable distance for people to get somewhere without relying on alternate transport. This map shows a gap between the health district and access to parks and open space.
Health Centers & Community Services Community services, in regards to this map, consist of senior care centers, community centers, after school programs, and other community spaces like the international market. This map is showing the health centers in relation to community services (in yellow). A 0.5 mile radius has been drawn around the community services in order to best illustrate the prominent gap between the accessibility of services in relation to the heath centers.

LIV Boise: Energize Our Neighborhoods Initiative & Plan4Heath Grant The Vista Neighborhood was selected to be the first Energize Our Neighborhoods partner, and is gaining momentum quickly. The Energize Our Neighborhoods Initiative under LIV Boise, just received a $125,000 grant from Plan4Health to o focus on increasing access to nutritious foods and physical activity in the Vista Neighborhood. Existing Land Use The land uses of Boise Central Bench can be divided into industrial, institutional, residential, commercial and recreational uses. There is a great number of single family homes along the south and east edge of the area. The industrial uses mostly located in the center of the area, and there are some of them scattered around the Bench area . For recreational uses, there are very few open spaces or parks, so some residents choose to go to high schools for recreational purposes. Commercial uses, especially retails are located along Orchard street and close to residential areas. There is a number of areas just left undeveloped.

Figure ground of focus area
The upper figure ground study shows different block clusters in the area without understanding the uses of them, so can further figure out the spacing in the community, in order to bring in more diversities in the area. The inverted figure ground study shows the major connections or circulations that bring or connect people from different places to their destinations. It also shows how the rails are interacting in the community and the opportunities that can bring into the community in the future. Aerial Map of focus area

Along Curtis Road (A-A’) Roof line that look along the major industrial area with huge oil tanks to the strap of residential area. Along the section, the roof line is so flat, and there is a lot of empty spaces in between. The streetscape could be improved by beautifying the appearance of oil tanks since vegetation near oil tanks might be dangerous, so a lot of spaces have left empty for securing the safety of the community.
Along Emerald St (B-B’) Roof line that right next to the hospital is a mix of residential, industrial and commercial uses. The roof line is still flat but there is a greater variety of different types of buildings, increasing the interest of the streetcapse. Similar to other cross sections, industrial uses are mainly the causes for wide open unused spaces.

The map above shows those trails with good bicycle access 69 Boys & Girls Club in green, those with poor or dangerous access in red. Non vehicular access across Nampa Municipal Airport the freeway is dangerous and unwelcoming, effectively cutting this area off from the Lakeview Park rest of the city. Within this area the neighborhoods south and south by southeast of Roosevelt St Alphonsus have limited bicycle access in comparison to the neighborhoods along Kurtz Sheridan the east side of the area. Improving bicycle access out of the area and through all Park Amity neighborhoods within the area would be highly beneficial. Southwest Bird District Health

Health System Campus Comparison St Luke’ Health system in Boise Downtown has a smaller area. It has a health building, a tumor service and a indoor parking garage. In the surrounding area, it has a lot of recreational areas, such as senior activity center, parks, theatre, zoo and museum nearby. But they do not have any food services provide for the visitors in the hospital, only in the area nearby Dora Park and the Capital. As having great amount of recreational uses close to the hospital, they can provide a more variety of activities or recovery services around the hospital not only for the patients, also, to the visitors.
St. Luke’s Health System St. Alphosus Hospital in Central Bench area has a larger area in which they provide more services such as emergency, bigger parking lots. Also, they have one food service that could provide for visitors. However, there is only one park and a community garden nearby the community. The park is mostly used as a baseball field, a proportion in the park could be use as recreational activities. For restaurants, there are a cluster of restaurants along the orchard street. At the mean time, the major industrial area is located just a few blocks away from the hospital.

Temporal and historical dimension
New development This map shows the new development happened between 1994-2014 in northeast part of central bench area. The new development including: large portion of residential, public health and commercial. Through observing the development pattern in this area, the trace of population booming can be spotted.
Pioneer heritage With westward expansion and gold rush in the context, pioneers built up Fort Boise in 1834 and it became Boise city in 1864. Since then, the spirit of renewal and exploring inspired Boiseans to work hard, challenge impossible and embrace what is unknown. The renewal spirit of Boiseans welcomes immigrants with these words: “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!” (“How Did Westward Expansion Impact American Society? Homework Help - ENotes.com.” Enotes.com. Enotes. com.
