Yesterday at 11:18am via mobile · Like · 1 Vanessa Leigh Luckhoff They should come to Modjadjiskloof! We are beyond ‘agteruit’! My dae in die dorp is beperk. My humeur ruk hand uit!

Waar is Werner?

So as Beep Bank nou so ‘n bietjie geduldig was met Werner, sal hulle waarskyn-

Of was hulle daar?

Dinge is so onverstaanbaar.

— bl 6

Thank God, it finally rained… The recent good rain has saved the Greater Giyani Municipality from plunging into a complete water crises.

The two dams that supply the GGM with water both ran completely dry and for the past year the GGM, assisted by the MDM, supplied water from tankers to thousands of households. A special rain prayer service was held recently by the GGM in conjunction with pastors’ organisations, to pray for rain. Some boreholes also began to start running dry. The message from the department of water affairs was that if it didn’t rain by the end of Olebile February there would be a serious crisis, and Hangwani Mukwevho, Olebile Monica Muk- Accomplish: the owner wevho, the wife Avhapfani Mukwevho there would be no single drop of water in the taps in the GGM’s jurisdiction. In the photo herewith residents of Giyani pray for rain, a week before the good rains started (answering their prayers).

Edu dept closed... After we reported on the 2012 matric results it was brought to our attention that the person who we believed to be the top pupil in the Mopani district had matriculated from an independent school and not from a public school. We then endeavored to find the top public school pupil, but to no avail. The search started at the office of the department of education in Tzaneen. Ms Melanie Grobler could only confirm the top school in the Tzaneen circuit, being Merensky High School. She then referred us to Mr Mashamba, the head of examinations (082 818 3133), who said that he would not be able to assist us. Mashamba referred us to Dr Mafenya (015 811 7702), whose receptionist gave us her cell phone number (082 881 3178). Our call, however, were immediately put through to Mafenya’s voicemail box. After little success we approached a different angle, contacting the Giyani-circuit office (015 812 1131). Upon

our enquiry, the receptionist referred us to the Giyani district manager’s office (015 811 7700). We were told that the manager was unavailable and that we should contact Mr Pat Kgomo at the head office (015 290 7702). We had no luck contacting Kgomo’s head office and we were told to dial him on one of two numbers: 015 290 9301 or 072 573 0888. Our last attempt was (to no great surprise) a failed one, as nobody answered these numbers. This has become journalists’ nightmare, since it is a daily battle to communicate with officials. They are forever in workshops (it doesn’t seem to help to bring about change). Or they are simply not avaialable and their secretaries and PA’s and typists and drivers and private tea maids more often than not can’t indicate when they will be available... Our effort with the education department kept one of our reporters busy for almost two days! And we dealt with only one department!

The Hawks rearrested the alleged fly-by-night kingpin, Hangwani Mukwevho (57), for running another unregistered FET College in Kgapane, on Friday. According to Limpopo police spokesman, Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi, Mukwevho and his wife Olebile Monica Mukwevho (45) and their business associate, Avhapfani Dalton Muluma (31), were first arrested for allegedly running the Seshego FET College, but it was run without being registered at the department of higher education. The Hawks discovered Mukwevho was also the owner of the Kgapane FET College in Bolobedu (also not registered). Suspected fraudulent documents indicate that the college, which started in 2010, is also registered

as the Bela Bela Technical College. Mukwevho and Kgaogelo Grace Mafokeng appeared in the Bolobedu magistrates court on Monday. They remain in custody and their case was transferred to Seshego for consolidation with Mukwevho’s first case. The two, together with Muluma and Mukwevho, will appear in Seshego for a bail application. The police urge all previous and current students of both the Seshego and Kgapane FET Colleges to go to their nearest police station to furnish their particulars. “This is done so the police have a database of all the robbed students and to prevent them from being arrested for applying using fake certificates. — Martina Jege martina@bulletin.us.com

Fifteen people were arrested for loitering, 48 for violating the road traffic act, five for illegal trading, four for shoplifting, four for theft, two for drinking and driving, two for common robbery, one for housebreaking and theft and one for drinking in public. Seale again urged motorists to obey the traffic laws and to avoid drinking and driving, since it regularly puts innocent lives in danger.

Now its war The SAPS in Limpopo have had enough of the escalating number of rapes being committed on a daily basis and have now declared war against rapists. Over 121 rape cases have been reported since the beginning of 2013. The SAPS provincial spokesman, Brig Hangwani Mulaudzi, said that police will act without any leniency in the application of the law and that some rapists might face charges of attempted murder. He added that all rape suspects will be subjected to an HIV test and if the results come back positive, a charge of attempted murder will be added to the original rape charge. He added that the statistic is awful and that the police have vowed not to sit down and fold their arms. Tzaneen cluster was the main contributor with 27 rape cases, followed by the Polokwane cluster where seventeen

(Albei hul pa’s is reeds oorlede)

The blueberries and raspberries are hanging ripe and ready to pick on the bushes as Magoebaskloof and Haenertsburg are busy with the final preperations for the annual Berry Festival next Saturday and Sunday. For the first time this year strawberries will also be available at the festival. Visitors will also be able to pick their own cherry guavas on a farm just outside Tzaneen.

Besides visiting the participating farms where you can pick and eat your fill of luscious berries you can take part in fun events in the village of Haenertsburg where there will be a harvest market, competitions, music, a barn dance and loads of delectable berry dishes at the hotels, restaurants and tea gardens. The participating farms will open their gates to the public

Thirty now behind bars The department of justice and the Tzaneen cluster seem to be indeed strengthening their relationship. This is the feeling after 29 criminals were sentenced by Tzaneen, Bolobedu, Ritavi and Maake magistrates and high courts for 36 different crime incidents. Sape Elias Mailula of Makhwibidung at Maake was sentenced to two years plus 24 years imprisonment for murder, attempted rape, attempted murder and possession of a firearm without a license. Innocent Moyo from Tzaneen was sentenced to two years imprisonment for theft out of a

motor vehicle and another two years for theft. The Tzaneen Cluster commander, Maj Genl Maggy Mathebula, welcomed the sentencing. She applauded the police for tirelessly working long hours to investigate the cases and to ensure that all criminals are now behind bars, where they should be. “It takes dedication and unity to achieve such verdicts and we believe working together with the department of justice can bring positive outcomes,” Mathebula said. — Martina Jege martina@bulletin.us.com

Rev Ron Reiners

Groenste dorp is vaal

In 1 Corinthians 12 v 1-11 we read about Spiri-tual Gifts, gifts that God in His mercy gives us: Wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, distinguishing between spi-rits, speaking in tongues, interpretation of tongues.

Sommige meer as ander. In Tzaneen se raad loop sake erg verkeerd.

Enigiemand wat kan help, kan my gerus skakel by 083 448 5171 of Leon by 076 828 1615.

Now I know it will be said that we do not possess all these gifts and this is true, but we can ask God to give us these gifts and He will if they are used for good and not for self-gain. He may also give us these gifts for only a short while or for a long time as long as we use them for His purposes. Many of us have already the gift of faith. We say we believe in Christ, but do we actually encourage others to claim this gift? It is known fact that many are turning away from main stream religion even denying that there is a God. What has changed them so much? I believe that they did not use this gift correctly and were influenced by the modern world. We see in the modern world how the lack of faith has led to upheaval, broken marriages, and even to ill health. We need to believe in something or someone, it is human nature. However, often we a let down by our beliefs due to the fact that others cause us to doubt. Modern technology gives us answers and often we do not query them but blindly believe them. Yet this is not a modern trend if we look back in history we will find evidence that beliefs in the super natural, or the powers of witch doctors etc. What we need to do is to re-examine our faith. We need to get answers to questions that have been worrying us for a long time. The greatest question that often comes up is “Is there a God” with all the conflict in the world today it is easy to answer in the negative. Once again this is where faith comes in and not just a hearsay faith but a strong conviction that God is in control. We often wait until a crises hits us before we turn to God for help. I encourage you all to be faithful at all times and to give Him the thanks that He deserves, daily. Blessings

— Redakteur.

GNT’s decision welcomed Desiree van der Walt, DA Limpopo

Spokesperson on Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, writes: Letebele’s Public Service Commission probe must continue. The Democratic Alliance welcomes the decision by Great North Transport to cancel the appointment of Mr Ntau Letebele as its Chief Executive. This appointment should not have been made in the first place. That it took place raises serious questions of political interference in the process. Questions that need to be answered are; was the Board of Directors that approved Mr Letebele’s appointment oblivious to a matter that was already in the public arena. Mr Letebele was publicly implicated in a report on tender irregularities by the Public Protector. If this was the case then the Board was in dereliction of its fiduciary duties towards the Company. Secondly it must be probed whether or not there was a political instruction from higher echelons to appoint Mr Letebele. The DA had already written to the Public Service Commission (PSC) to probe this appointment. We will ask that the investigation continues and be extended to include findings of political interference and whether the Board acted ethically when it made the initial appointment.

LFPA launches school competition The Letaba Fire Protection Association (LFPA) started the year on a high note, with an initiative to spread the message about fire hazards and present opportunities to rural farm schools. This initiative will afford lucky pupils an opportunity to go for a ride in a helicopter. The news was received with great enthusiasm by the pupils of the Loretto Primary School in Agatha. The pupils all answered a firm no, when asked if they have ever been in an aircraft. Loretto is one of the sixteen schools

An illegal electricity connection in Mariveni near Nkowankowa claimed the life of a 23 year-old man on Wednesday. The village has become very dangerous because of a network of illegally connected wires all over the place. Seen in the photo top left is a typical scene in the area, where wires (not even waterproof cables) are hanging over a sloot. LEFT BOTTOM: The body of the electrocuted Benard Magoro is being placed in the back of the vehicle of the Forensic Pathology service. A farm worker, one Michael, who was harvesting lychees on the Hamawasha plot of a Tzaneen lawyer, Mr Jenke Nagel, was also electrocuted when a ladder he carried touched overhead high voltage wires.

Rugby by Merensky betree vanjaar ‘n nuwe dimensie

Daar is baie min B-spanne by ons teenstanders beskikbaar.

SLC churns out records at house athletics After being kept indoors by two weeks of rain in Magoebaskloof, Stanford Lake College arrived to a lovely warm Polokwane for their annual interhouse athletics event on Saturday. The day began with the 3 000 m race and saw the majority of the seniors coming out of the stands and taking part. The scores remained very tight until the exciting relays, which also saw three records broken. Mfunumo Mongwe broke the record for the 100 m hurdles for u.14 boys, setting at time of 13:15. Lalla Shipalana set a new record time of 16:70 in the 100 m hurdles for u.19 girls, while Kganya Sebatjane did the same in the 100 m hurdles for boys u.16 by setting a new time of 15:89. Chris de Jager set a new record of 12,80 m in the shotput for boys u.15, while Dewald Ludick set a new record of 11,91 m in the shotput for boys u.16. Anke Vaughan set

a new record height of 1,42 m in the highjump for girls u.14 while Graeme Hart set a new record height of 1,72 m for boys u.15. The Vavasour Cup as well as the Cheerio Trust Trophy for the best senior middle distance runner was awarded to Yusuf Cachalia, while the McGaffin Trust Trophy for the top sprinter went to Tam Johnson. The McGaffin Trust Relay Trophy went to House Orvis. Leroy Moren won the Kenney Trophy for the best senior boys discus while Dewald Ludick won the Kenney Trophy for the best junior boys discuss. Jesica Mayes won the Kenney Trophy for the best senior girls discus. The four Loubser Trophies for the Victor and Victrix Ludorums went to Mfuma Mongwe (junior Victor), Anke Vaughan (junior Victrix), Lalla Shipilana (senior Victrix) and Tam Johnson (senior Victor).

ABOVE: In front are Yusuf Cachalia, Lalla Shipilana and Mfuma Mongwe. At the back are Dewald Ludick, Jesica Mayes, Mr Craig Carolan (eadmaster), Ms Tracey McDonald (guest of honour), winning team captains of House Orvis, Jason Stroud and Jacqueline de Villiers, Tam Johnson and Anke Vaughan.

Rugby bring waardes beter as enige onderwyser of ouer tuis.

Duiwelskloof wen Lietsjietoernooi Retha Nel

retha@bulletin.us.com

Belangstellendes kan me Yvette de Marrilac by 071 687 3255 skakel.

Steyn skryf: Bernie Bitter, Direkteur van Sport Outreach Africa het gesê: “The Biblical perspective on competitiveness at school level would be to give 100% and to give God the glory. Unfortunately, that is not happening at schools. The motivation is basically to win at all cost. School sport is basically an extension of the classroom. The goal should be to prepare young men and women for life. Teachers have the responsibility to teach pupils how to win and not be boastful, and how to handle disappointment when they lose.” Ouers is reeds hieroor by ‘n rugbyvergadering aan
