Plaasaanval in GV skok

Bloedtekort is erg
The Baronet and the Savage King, a history of the Tati Concession, was launched at the Brenthurst Library in Johannesburg and at the Supa Ngwao museum in Francistown last week. The book, tells the story of the first gold rush in Southern Africa. The Baronet is Sir John Swinburne who obtained a concession from King Lobengula for mining in the area between the Tati and Shashe Rivers in what is now Eastern Botswana, in 1868. Seen here are Messrs Tito Mboweni (the chairman of Goldfields Ashanti and was guest of honour), David Hilton-Barber (the author) and Prof Louis Changuion (the master of ceremonies).

Sê jou sê The opinions/statements made herein are that of our readers and does not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the Bulletin. The comments of people are given verbatim. We appeal to all who take part in the debates not to use hate-speech or to be insulting toward others. • On Friday we reported on the shocking incident that occurred at the Van Velden Hospital in Tzaneen. We have heard numerous complaints about the unacceptable experiences in state hospitals. Have you had any bad experiences? What is your feeling and opinion? Wendy Botha My sister in law gave birth to her baby there a year ago, she got no help from the nurses and no one was alowed in the hospital to assist her. Her c section and bedding were not cleaned either. The same night a father also complained of a nurse bumping there new born baby against the head.
• As reported in Friday’s edition Coach House is busy with restructuring in order to regain the hotel’s former glory as a popular tourist attraction. Are you also positive about this? Pat Patterson Can only be a plus for our community. Ansie Van Der Gryp very expensive! Jackie Breed Maybe they should try and get back some of the Great Staff that where there for years, alongside Guy Matthews instead of treating them like crap until they were pushed to take a terrible retrenchment packet or resign out of pure pressure! Ronel de Bruyn Will it be affordable for locals though? No use in having a stunning hotel close by but no-one can afford to eat there... AnnamarieBothma I love the Coach House, but on my last trip, i vowed not to visit them again. Booked online, paid my deposit (for 4 people) and when I booked out Sunday after breakfast, the original deposit that was paid online (I had the proof and confirmation) the receptionist told me she cannot give me a credit for that... I had to pay the full amount, and they were going to refund me. The 13th of July will be 1 year, and I am still waiting for my refund or email from their staff! Amanda Strydom Mr Beggs you heard the lady. You pay peanuts you get monkeys to work for you. Trusted friends and staff we miss you! I haven’t been back for months!

Alles uiters belangrike items, v.i. (Vlieg Insiens). Vlieg se vraag hieroor is: teen watter koste?

David Hilton-Barber “Gold mined at Tati was identified with the dynasty of the Queen of Sheba and the ancient rulers of biblical Ophir. Homeless man dies
Man in hospital after attack
Mr Gilbert Makwala (75), a homeless man living in Tzaneen, died last after accidentally setting himself alight near the GTM’s offices in Agatha Street, Tzaneen. It is believed that Makwala started a fire to keep warm and the plastic bag he was wearing caught fire. The Tzaneen Police said that Makwala stopped some of their member on patrol and asked them for help. The Police called an ambulance which took Makwala to the Letaba Hospital. He was later taken to Mankweng Hospital as he was in a critical condition. Makwala died and it was found that 80% of his body had been burnt. His post-mortem was conducted last week and it was determined that no suspects were involved in the case. Makwala was originally from Modubung in Modjadji.
A man is still in hospital after being attacked with a brick by two brothers on Sunday. According to a Letsitele Police spokesperson, Const Ntsako Mabunda, the two brothers went to the victim’s house and searched it while he was away. He returned to find them in his house and confronted them. They then struck him on the head with a brick and he collapsed. He was taken to Letaba Hospital by ambulance and was immediately transferred to the Polokwane Provincial Hospital because of his serious injury. The Police are still looking for the two suspects, who are known to the victim. They urge the community not to take the law into their own hands, but to call the police instead. Anyone with information can contact the Letsitele Police on 015 345 8000.

No law Frances Mc Comb from Haenertsburg, Cell 072 196 8125, writes: I would like to show taxpayers how our hard earned taxes are being abused. Blue light brigades think they have come from heaven and can act as irresponsible as they like. They think no law applies to them. Drive at 160 km/h and more. Push in at stop and go and stand in an area where they can take off at high speed as soon as the go signal is given. No traffic cops stop them, so guys take them on. What is good for them is good for us, who pay them to act like idiots.

I am sitting here and before me I have a shambok, an axe and a Bible. Which of the three do you think could cause the most harm when used on a person? One may say that the shambok could cause physical as well as mental damage, because one’s dignity could suffer, the axe again would cause more physical damage. Most would say the Bible would cause the least damage or no damage at all. The clue is in who’s is wielding each item. Funnily enough, I think the Bible can cause a tremendous amount of damage. For, I can find answers in it to please my way of thought. The use of alcohol can be justified: didn’t Jesus turn water into wine? Physical abuse can be justified: Spare the rod and spoil the child. Even murder, did not David kill for his own gain and yet he was chosen by God to do His work and became a great man. It is in the interpretation of the Bible that the truth lies and in the wrong hands it can be used as a tool to justify just about anything. That is why we are warned in Mathew 7 verse 15 we are warned “Watch out for false prophets the come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves” One could ask “but how do I tell what the pastor has preached about is true or false? After all is he/ she not a man of God?” That is why we have a Bible so that we can read it and make our own conclusions, with of course the help of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is full of balances and counter-balances, we need to read it to understand it and not just only parts of it but the whole Bible. So I encourage you all to use this “workers manual” for it does have the answers in it. Some you may like and others will make you think. I try to use the Bible as an instruction manual and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit I hope to interpret it in the correct way. Blessings.
Incompetency behind water problems Knowledgeable people say the real cause of the “failure” to supply water in the Greater Giyani Municipality’s area is poorly maintained infrastructure. According to the chairman of the Giyani Water Crisis Committee, Mr Marvel Mboweni, many things were not in order at the Nsami Dam plant. This includes a raw water pump, which is too small to pump enough
water into the purifying plant (above), meaning that during the purification process they have to close the distribution pipelines to allow the purifying plant to become full first, which consequently compromises the distribution of water. Residents (photo right) are becoming increasingly restless about the problem. — Orlando Chauke

Desiree van der Walt, DA Limpopo Health spokesperson, writes: One ambulance at Malamulele Hospital cannot service the whole area. The Democratic Alliance has been reliably informed that Malamulele Hospital only has one ambulance to serve a vast area of villages. To compound the matter it is also reported that only two people instead of eight are reporting for duty per shift. This is highly unacceptable as this hospital provides health care to a number of villages in the District. The Legislature has recently passed a budget of R13 billion for 2013/14 financial year for the provincial department of health and of this R508 million has been set aside for Emergency Medical Services in the province. We will be writing to the MEC of Health, dr Mabasa, to urge him to use some of these funds to urgently attend to hospitals such as Malamulele where the situation is now dire.
The Kruger National Park ‘s managing executive, Mr Abby Sibiya, has urged employees to exercise good customer service in order to “ remain relevant” to both South Africans and international tourists. Speaking at the achievement awards held at Skukuza, Sibiya said “tourism staff” needed to improve their performance, reminding themselves that “customer service should be at the top of everybody’s mind, in order to create a unique experience for visitors. Moving to Rhino poaching in the park, Sibiya singled out Tshokweni, N’wanetsi, Houtboschrand, Olifants, Letaba and Pretoriuskop areas as the hot spots for poachers. “I’m happy that the Mozambique government has promised to step up the fight against poachers from their sides…together we will ensure that the poachers have no place to hide,” he said.

Dié veelsydige entrepreneur is vol
“Dit is vir my meer as net ‘n stokperdjie.” Ek moet eers tyd in my skedule vind”, sê sy laggend.

Paying tribute to the past A 95 year-old former Tzaneenite, Ms Winifred Bennett, fondly known as Kewpie (photo left), came from Johannesburg with some family descendants to pay her respects at her late father’s grave, earlier this week. The grave is situated within a banana plantation at Yamorna outside Tzaneen. Farm owners, Chris and Sophia Ras, said the grave was in a mango plantation when they arrived. Kewpie’s nephew, David Parnell (73) from Haenertsburg, recalls the grave being in the bush. (Chris was born in Brits, studied geology at the University of Pretoria, liked Tzaneen, moved to the town and then out onto his own farm.) The gravestone states John Le Warne Bennett from Dorset 18791924. Kewpie says that both her mother and stepfather’s remains are there too. Kewpie’s father was born into a farming community in Dorset in the UK. He came to SA as a yeoman during the Anglo Boer War and after that settled on the Yamorna farm with his wife and three children. Kewpie is the middle daughter. Bennett’s wife was a South African and had worked as a nurse at Elim hospital. Widowed after Bennett’s fatal stroke, she went on to marry a Mr Wheatcroft. Parnell recalls a remarkable incident that happened to Mrs Wheatcroft. A man, surnamed Beukes, who worked at Harry Crown’s shop in Tzaneen, was shot dead in his bed one night. Before the Tzaneen killer could be apprehended he then accosted Mrs Wheatcroft demanding money. She raised her arm to protect her head, as he raised his 303 rifle, and he shot her entire arm off. The man was caught and hanged.

“You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone.”

Reserwes: 16 Willie Kahts 17 Nick Bezuidenhout 18 Danie Rossouw 19 Marcell Coetzee 20 François Hougaard 21 Butch James 22 Gio Aplon.

Maake Police soccer team wins To end off Youth Month the Maake Police soccer team played against the Maake United Birds, a local soccer team at the Lenyenye stadium on Sunday. Maake Police won convincingly with a score of 5-0. The purpose of these games is to reduce crime amongst the youth by ensuring that they participate in sport and other extra-mural activities.
Soccer teams include former inmates and convicts as well as school children. The campaign behind these games is to ensure that participants say no to crime. More games will take place after the school holidays and Maake Police want to encourage more young people to take part. — Tshegofatso Ngobeni tshego@bulletin.us.com

The Limpopo Open Masters was played in Polokwane, and Duiwelskloof Bowling Club took the top three places. Congratulations go to Doug Reed (center, first place), Johan Benade (right, second place) and Zane Fanie (left, third place) for a remarkable achievement! Well done and well played!
