Vlieg praat met die Volk en krap waar dit jeuk...
Seker met die dat Vlieg volgende week die winterson by die see gaan opsoek, dat hy daaraan gedink het dat hy in sy leeftyd al ‘n paar keer moes beleef hoe die oomblik net eenvoudig te groot was. Vlieg onthou met deernis uit sy maaierdae die herfsvakansies in Toti en in Margate, toe ‘n mens nog soontoe kon gaan, hoe die Vrystaatse ooms se “blikke” oor hulle costumes gehang het daar op die strand. Party van die “oom-blikke” was harig soos hul borskaste, ander weer bles soos hul koppe, maar die meeste het mooi in die trekkertupies ingepas waarmee hulle die branders gery het. Vlieg het intussen besef, veral noudat hy self die middeljare betree het, dat daai ooms se “blikke” darem eenvoudig net te groot was. Daarom dat Vlieg self syne die heeldag so moet intrek; hy wil tog nie soos daai ooms lyk nie. Vlieg onthou dat daardie ooms baie Lion Lager gedrink het, en die wat selfbewus was oor hul “blikke”, het Ohlsons geskink,(omdat hulle gedink het dit maak

minder vet). Gelukkig vir Vlieg se “oomblik” is altwee, of albei, of dalk beide van die mark af! Vlieg gee nie om vir ‘n “tannieblik” wat soms te groot is nie. ‘n “Tannieblik” sit ge-
woonlik so ‘n bietjie hoër op die lyf as ‘n “oomblik”, en gelukkig is daar gewoonlik twee van hulle. In sy maaierdae het selfs “tannieblikkies” vir Vlieg beïndruk! Seker maar nou nog! Nietemin, Vlieg kom agter, en hy vra om verskoning dat hy hom nou op Oubal se terrein begewe, dat ons landjie se sportmense nie altyd weet hoe om die groot oomblikke te verwerk nie. Onse Blommetjies met die rooi balletjies en die kolwe veral het dit nou al keer op keer bewys. Vlieg kyk nie regtig baie tennis nie. Om die waarheid te sê, hy kyk gewoonlik net die Wimbleton-eindstryd, en miskien elke tweede jaar die Franse Ope s’n. Dis die geluide wat hulle maak wat hom meestal afsit, veral die meisies. Om die een of ander rede het Vlieg vanjaar meer van die toernooi in Haar Majesteit se voortuin gevolg, met die gevolg dat hy moes aanskou hoe die oomblik vandeesweek vir onse Kevin Anderson heeltemal te groot was, nadat hy die eerste twee stelle teen Novak Djokovic gewen en nog steeds die wedstryd verloor het! Vir Vlieg is dit amper soos impotensie op ‘n huweliksnag. Die oomblik net te groot! Tot oor twee weke!

(Another) water crisis hits hard Child support grants used to buy water A massive crisis... is what residents of Moshate Village, Ga Sekgopo (Ward 9 of the Greater Letaba Municipality), call the on-going water problem in their area. It is now almost one year that residents in the area have been without running water. The fingers are being pointed at the Mopani District Municipality, since the MDM is the water authority and the Greater Letaba Municipality (GLM) is actually powerless in these circumstances. The GLM’s spokesperson, Ms Lovers Maenetje, said her department has communicated with the MDM regarding the problem. “The MDM has indicated that they have received the Bulletin’s inquiry on the matter and will attend to it. Please wait for them for a response as they are our water authority. Issues related to water are handled by them,” Maenetje told the Bulletin earlier this week. We have been following up with the MDM since Thursday last week, but the MDM’s spokesperson, Mr Neil Shikwambana has been scrambling for answers from his superiors to no avail. Residents of the affected area have now presented a memorandum to Mr City Modjadji, the GLM’s mayor. A community leader in the area, Mr Timothy Maluleke, told the Bulletin that the water crisis has become a huge burden to those who cannot afford to buy water at inflated prices from merchants. “Due to the limited volume of water that is available from the taps and a large number of residents who are in need of the water, some residents regularly fight with each other for access to the water that is only available at midnight. “Water supply to this area and the surrounding villages is nonexistent, water deliveries by the municipality are inconsistent and boreholes have not been functional for many years,” he said. He explained that residents agreed that each family in the
area should contribute R155 to buy taps and pipes to connect to the boreholes. The holes have allegedly been drilled for the GLM a long time ago. Another resident who spoke to us on condition of anonymity confirmed that they are indeed forced to buy water with their child support grants, at highly inflated prices charged by unscrupulous water dealers in the area. According to Maluleke the Mopani District Municipality has failed dismally in solving a massive crisis, despite a budget of over R100 million to address the water crisis in the 2014/2015 financial year. Yesterday the premier of Limpopo met with role players to address the critical situation. Numerous areas in Mopani experience water supply problems. A full investigation and forensic audits are being done to establish the “disappearance” of many, many millions of Rands that were

Nkowankowa Gospel Festival 11 July The likes of Winnie Mashaba, Sipho Makhabane, Khaya Mthethwa are among the Gospel greats set to rock Nkowankowa tomorrow (Saturday) in the Community Hall. Blade op wiele Daar sit die Griekse eerste minister Dinsdagaand tussen al sy Europese leier-kollegas sonder ‘n strop om sy nek. So sien die wêreld hom al die afgelope paar spanningsvolle weke: sonder baadjie, moue opgerol, byna sonder uitsondering sonder ‘n swerm veiligheidswagte wat om hom met hul 007-aansitmaniertjies saam koek. Maandagmiddag se toneel toe die land se minister van finansies bedank het, was nog meer indrukwekkend: hy kom as minister van finansies (in enige Westerse land ‘n baie senior portefeulje) by sy ministerskantoor aan met opgerolde moue, geen baadjie, geen das en hy kom daar aan op ‘n motorfiets en ‘n valhelm op sy kop! En so het hy na sy bedanking vertrek (steeds as verkose lid van die Griekse parlement). Hoe lyk dit in ons land, waar die ekonomie ook maar steier en slinger en ons leiers gerus hul moue — minstens spreekwoordelik — kan oprol en werk aan ‘n beter toekoms. Kan ‘n mens jou voorstel die irriterende leier van die SAKP, Blade Nzimande, kom by ‘n saamtrek op sy motorfiets aan (hy verdien natuurlik niks duurder en groter as ‘n bromponie nie). Die ou mannetjie wat in die spieël kyk en homself dan as ‘n reus sien, teer te lekker op die belastingbetalers se leë beursies. Hy is ons land se groot kommunis wat nog nooit die moed van sy oortuiging bymekaar kon skraap om na ‘n stembus te gaan en sy persoon en uitgediende beleid te toets nie. In een van sy twee duur Duitse ampsmotors met ‘n motorbestuurder en wagte rits hy die land vol (wanneer hy nou nie agteroor in die gemak van ‘n vliegtuig se sakeklas sit-lê nie), om gif te braak. Hy is nie die enigste karikatuur in ons kabinet wat by die Grieke ‘n les of drie kan leer nie (maar ons leiers is mos te slim om by ander te leer, veral wat betref duur [westerse] klere, weeldemotors, spoghuise, onbehoorlike nepotisme, en, en, en...). Nog ‘n les uit die afgelope tyd se Griekse drama is dat dit onmoontlik is om meer weg te gee (toelaes, pensioene, gratis dit en gratis dat) as wat invloei. En dan kan ons verskeurde ou volkie ook gerus kou aan die jongste Griekse sage, want daar is kosbars lesse, wat in sekere opsigte ‘n verlengstuk is van goeie lesse wat uit die ryk Griekse mitologie geput kan word. Vir ons huidige leiers beveel ons egter in hierdie stadium van die ontplooiing van ‘n snel veranderende wêreld eerder ‘n les uit die Ou Iranse mitologie aan. Die les wat in Jima (of Jam) se lewe opgesluit is, veral waar hy sy goddelike genade verloor en sterflik geword het, toe hy hooghartig en leuenagtig geword het.

Verkiesings verraai politici se bedenklike agendas. En hoe hulle dink al die kiesers is onnosel. Volgende jaar is dit munisipale verkiesingstyd. Die nuwe swembad is byna klaar. Die fontein voor die munisipale gebou word reggemaak. Daar is selfs ‘n palm of twee op Adams Sirkel geplant (na Bulletin se foto-artikel verlede week). Die beloftes word ook afgestof en die populisme loop dik soos teer. En so is daar pas weer begin met dreigemente om joernaliste te muilband... Ja?

We often think that things are going so well that we can sit back and admire what we have achieved. We have a good job, our marriage is sound, our children are educated and in general our finances are sound and all of a sudden things begin to go wrong. We decide to change our stable job for what we think is going to be our retirement nest egg, our marriage deteriorates to such an extent that we split up, our children have left for greener pastures and our finances are pathetic. What went wrong? We trusted in our own power and forgot who is actually in charge. Many times we forgot to pray into each situation and our relationship with God was the least on our minds. I am not blaming God for the situation that we got ourselves into as many would possibly think that God is punishing us. God only gives to us when we ask Him for it, but it is sometimes not what we want, but what He knows is good for us. So how do we change the situation we find ourselves in? By going back to the master plan and refining it, doing intro-
spection and most importantly trusting God. Faith in all we do is not enough if we do not include God in all our planning. When we truly love someone we need to constantly show it, not necessarily by buying gifts, but by doing things that please our partner, that show our love for them, little things also count. We need to constantly pray for them and bring them before God. Most importantly we need to ask God to intervene, to invite God to take control of our situation and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit we will achieve what God wants for us. Excluding someone from our lives is not always the answer, Jesus gave us a new commandment, that we love one another just as He loves us. I think that this is perhaps the most difficult one to achieve as we are always looking for excuses not to do this when someone disappoints us in our perception of what we want. We all want happiness but at what cost? Do we deny others our love in an attempt to find this happiness? Let us pray for God guidance in all we do. Blessings.

Verkeersafdeling. Om te wát?
Namakwaland se mense kan tog so mooi op ‘n kopkrapper reageer met “Om te wát?”. Soms wissel hulle dit af met “Om te hóé?”. Praat mens oor die GTM se verkeersafdeling, kom dit op dat mens wil vra “om te wat?” Die Bulletin het ongeveer drie jaar gelede by die GTM navraag gedoen oor die verkeersafdeling se plan om ordelike en gladde verkeersvloei in en om die dorp te verseker, om te sorg dat parkering in die sakekern nie krisisafmetings aanneem nie en om ook te verseker dat orde in terme van wetsgehoorsaamheid nagekom word. Ons is vir sowat ‘n jaar aan die lyntjie gehou met allerlei stories oor die plan waaraan gewerk word, toe is ons vertel dit moet eers aan die stadsraad voorgelê word en na langer as ‘n jaar is uiteindelik erken dat daar geen plan is nie en ook nie aan een gewerk word nie! Nou het byna nog ‘n kjaar verloop en motoriste moet gefrusteerd ervaar hoe sake omtrent weekliks versleg.
Die verkeer het drasties toegeneem en neem steeds in vinnig toe. Parkering in die middedorp is min of meer ‘n krisis en die enkele plekke waar dit nie is nie, sorg smouse in elk geval dat mens nie veilig kan parkeer nie. Die taxis ry soos hulle wil, stop waar hulle wil, gehoorsaam verkeersligte en ander verkeerstekens wanneer hulle wil. Verkeerslui sien jy nie meer buite kantoorure nie en die willewragtags van die dorp jaag saans soos besetenes in die dorp. Verkeerstekens word deur onwettige plakkate versper en ontsier; smouse neem die dorp oor en die verkeerslui, as wetstoepassers in diens van die GTM, staan (verkieslik sit) handjies gevou en kyk hoe sake versleg. Die R71 deur die dorp het ‘n renbaan geword en tussen die GTM en Limpopo se verkeerslui kan hulle nie besluit wie jurisdiksie het om motoriste op die stukkie pad te beheer nie. Hulle kan ie eens die smouse wat onwettig
langs dié pad handel dryf, te beheer nie. Voetgangers, veral by die besige kruising by die Tzaneen Crossing, toon geen respek vir motoriste en die verkeerslig nie en die dag dat iemand daar liederlik seer gaan kry as hy/sy deur ‘n motor getref word, is ‘n eintlik geval van wanneer en nie as nie. Die foto’s onderaan dié ruimte wys wat aan die gebeur is in die “nuwe” Claude Wheatley-straat langs die rivier. Hier parkeer taxis nouin die straat en versperkdie enkelbaan, sodat motoriste noodgedwonge teen die aankomende verkeer se baan moet ry. Die taxi-manne sê die verkeerhoof het toestemming gegee dat hulle dit mag doen. Die verkeersbeamptes tree nie op nie, wat dus beteken die tax-manne praat die waarheid. She needs her pulmonary valve replaced with a percutaneous valve. Medical costs are estimated at R200 000. Letaba Tzaneen Lions Club decided to help
this young girl from the nearby town as Louis Trichardt does not have a Lions Club. Cuts and blow waves will be done at special prices ranging from R50 for primary school cuts to R120 for a cut plus blow wave. Proceeds will go towards Corlaine’s medical costs. Motordiewe van selfdoodvrou nog soek Die diewe wat die motor van ‘n selfdoodslagoffer van Tzaneen naby Politsi gesteel het, is steeds soek. Hulle het die motor vermoedelik van onderdele gestroop, nadat hulle dit naby die Tapane-plakkerskamp sowat agtien kilometer van haar lyk gevind is, agtergelaat het. Me Anita Basson (57) het verlede Donderdag verdwyn, nadat sy vir haar huiswerker gesê het niemand gaan haar weer sien nie. Sy is toe by die huis uit en na ‘n uitgebreide soektog is haar lewelose liggaam

The food processing plant of Westfalia in Politsi has become a high performance unit in the company, with the manufacturing of increasingly popular by-products from the vast avocado orchards to their disposal. Their avocado oil series are well known in kitchens throughout the country, blended with several spices and tastes and is proved cholesterol free. Their other product, Guacamole, took off some time ago and hit South Africa’s supermarkets by storm. It is a fine avocado puree, used as a spread on bread or included in salads and other delicacies on the table. But for the local people of Tzaneen and surrounding towns it is not well-known, as Guacamole is mainly marketed in the metropoles. It is also a popular seller in Europe and South America, where Westfalia runs four major marketing centres. The group, as part of Hans Merensky Holdings, do business with more than 300 dealers in more than fourty countries worldwide. At the end of last year they distributed thirty million cartons of avo’s in these countries. Guacamole is a product with its origin from the Aztecs in Mexico. In the Aztec dialect it means literally “avocado concoction”. It is prepared with different flavours, of which chillies is quite a popular one. Similar foods are on the market elsewhere. In Venezuela it is called Guasacaca. The product is thinner and more acidic or thick and chunky. It is an avo-based sauce with vinegar and mostly served over grilled food. Guatemala has its own product called Gua-

Die Vossies het toe ook R5 000 ingesamel en aan die DBV oorhandig, om by te dra tot die belangrike en dikwels ondankbare werk wat hulle doen.

Michelle het reeds in haar gr 9-jaar ook die eindronde gehaal en toe die derde plek landwyd losgepraat. In Maart het
die strawwe redenaarskompetisie met skoolrondes begin. Die eerste drie in elke kategorie het deurgedring na die eerste streekronde. In dié ronde het alle skole van die Limpopo-Noordstreek in Polokwane teen mekaar te staan gekom. Die beste sprekers het deurgedring na die tweede streekronde, waarin alle Limpopo-skole deelgeneem het. Hier het Michelle as wenner uit die stryd getree.

Cross Country event was a real highlight
Die wintersportseisoen by skole is so te sê verby, want in die tweede helfte van die jaar draai byna alles om die eindeksamens. Maar daar is nog uitspeelwedstryde en almal wat in uitspeelwedstryde betrokke gaan wees, word sterkte toegewens. Argieffoto: Tony Manamela van Merensky lê aan pale toe
Christelle palm goud in Een van die opwindendste junior atlete wat Limpopo se Laeveld vanjaar “ontdek” het, Christelle Coetzer, het nog ‘n skitterprestasie behaal. Christelle, ‘n veertienjarige gr 8-leerling van die Hoërskool Merensky, was vanjaar kort-kort in die nuus oor haar prestasies in atletiek, landloop, bergfietsry en tweekamp-prestasies. Saterdag het Christelle weer die tweekamp aangedurf, by die 2015 Mangaung ATU Duathlon African Cup. Sy moes 25 km hardloop, 10 km fietsry en daarna weer 1,75 km hardloop. Sy het as o.14-atleet in die o.15-ouderdomsgroep deelgeneem en nog ‘n (goue) veer in haar atletiekhoed gesteek, toe sy die nommer gewen en met goud weggestap het! Aangesien Limpopo nie ‘n provinsiale tweekampspan het nie, het Christelle GautengNoordkleure verwerf en onder dié vaandel deelgeneem. Na dese wag atletiekliefhebbers nou opgewonde op die klein ster se deelname aan die SA landloopkampioenskappe later vanjaar.
Eerste Bedryf: “Skeidsregter Craig Joubert het ‘n absoluut skokkende wedstryd,” sê kommentator en voormalige Aussie-kaptein Phil Kearns voorverlede week in die S15-halfeindstryd. Dít nadat Joubert na herhaalde kykweers beslis het Jacques Potgieter van die Waratahs het met ontoelaatbare spel ‘n moontlike drie voorkom en gevolglik ‘n strafdrie toegeken het, asook ‘n geelkaart vir Potgieter. ‘Tja, as Oubal dit nog nie gesê het nie, dan doen hy dit nou: met enkele uitsonderings (soos Ashwin Willemse) is daar min dinge so erg in rakbie soos ‘n voormalige internasionale speler wat ‘n kommentator word. Wat egter erger is, is ‘n voormalige internasionale kaptein, en nou kommintator, wat nie sy reëls ken nie. So, wat het gebeur met die Potgieter insident? Patrick Osborne van die Highlanders duik laag vir die doellyn, maar Potgieter tref hom met ‘n swaaiende arm teen die kop en Osborne druk die bal net kort van die doellyn. In sy hart is Oubal oortuig dat dié aksie Osborne se momentum net genoeg gestuit het om ‘n drie te voorkom. Wat sê die reëls? Oor vuilspel sê Reël 10.4

The interprovincial cross country championship event that was recently held at Merensky High School, hosted by Tzaneen’s Le’ Club, was one of this year’s local athletics highlights. Six provinces took part in thes event, namely: Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Gauteng North, Central Gauteng, Gauteng South and North West North, with a total of 1 375 athletes who competed against each other. It was a huge success and a welcome boost for
the local business community. It could not have been possible without the two main sponsors, Spar and Phakathi Milling, as well as the support of Merensky. All finishers received Limpopo Cross Country medals. The athletes and officials also enjoyed the launch of the new SPAR 500 ml cool drinks. The Limpopo athletes made their mark and local star Christelle Coetzer came second in the o.14 girls 4 km race.
Our photographer caught a number of local Tzaneen athletes who arrived early for the day’s races. The five junior juniors in the4 front are Daniel McLaren, Campbell McLean, Amoré Coetzee, Drikus du Toit and Juan Meintjes. Behind them are Anri McLean and somewhat to the right Martinus van Vreden and Kyle van Tonder. In the third row from the front are Liam Meintjes, Tewis Willemse, Elandri J van Rensburg and Anika du Toit and at the back are Christelle Coetzer and Janco Coetzee.

Dat 30 000 Waratah-ondersteuners Joubert na die wedstryd van die veld af gejou het, wat soort van bewys dat hy reg was. ‘Tja, Oubal sou graag wou sê dit is wat ‘n mens kan verwag van ‘n land wie se stigtervoorsate bandiete was, maar ongelukkig is die bedroefde land se mense en leiers nie immuun teen minagting van wet en reëls nie — dit sluit die wat as toeskouers langs ons sportvelde staan in! Tweede Bedryf: In ‘n week waarin verskeie skokgolwe SA Rakbie getref het, was een daarvan die afdanking van SARU se skeidsregterbaas, André Watson. Oubal wil nie veel daaroor sê nie, want hy verneem Watson gaan regstappe neem, en as sulks is die saak in die bedroefde

dit is gevaarlik en ontoelaatbaar om ‘n opponent met die vuis of arm te slaan. Reël 10.2 sê dat indien ‘n drie na alle waarskynlikheid gedruk sou gewees het as dit nie was vir ontoelaatbare spel deur ‘n opponent nie, ‘n strafdrie toegeken moet word. Let wel, die reël sê nie die drie sou beslis gedruk gewees het nie, net dat daar ‘n sterk waarskynlikheid moet wees. Maar Reël 10.2 sê ook dat die oortreder gewaarsku én tydelik óf vir die duur van die wedstryd van die veld gestuur moet word. Craig Joubert maak nie die reëls nie, maar as skeidsregter het hy ‘n verpligting om hulle toe te pas, en dit is presies wat hy in dié geval gedoen het — en korrek daarby.

Toeval? Oubal glo nie. Oubal vind dit egter ietwat lagwekkend dat ‘n persoon wat voor die Arbitrasiekommissie erken het dat hy op sy ondergeskiktes gevloek en geskel en ‘n diktatoriale bestuurstyl gehandhaaf het, homself nou tot regstappe gaan wend.
