In kort gaan die geding oor die bedrag van meer as R2m wat Blue Moonlight met Krüger as borg in 2012 van King Trade geleen het. Later was daar ‘n mondelinge ooreenkoms waarop Krüger en Blue Moonlight hulle beroep het, asook ‘n tegniese punt waarmee die landdros verkeerd was. Die bedrag van die eis val ook buite die jurisdiksie van die landdroshof.

Vlieg praat met die Volk en krap waar dit jeuk...
Vlieg Vlieg het nie ‘n goeie week gehad nie en hy kon nie verstaan waarom nie! Totdat hy, in die einste daaglikse dagpapiertjie wat hom verlede week so de swernoot in gehad het, gelees het — so a la die Genoot van elke Huis — dat dit dalk is omdat hy te min slaap. Op die voorblad nogal! Daar lees Vlieg dat te min slaap eintlik baie gevaarlik kan wees, aldus die navorsing van ene dr Lim Poh Hin van Maleisië. Volgens Hin behoort Vlieg, in vlees darem ‘n volwassene, ten minste sewe ure slaap per nag te kry. In gees egter, as maaier of papie, ten minste tussen elf en twaalf ure per nag. Van waar gehasie? Sou Vlieg nie genoeg slaap kry nie, verhoog dit sy risiko aansienlik om baie siek te word. Suikersiekte en dus geen meer koeksisters nie; hoë bloeddruk en dus geen meer moer strip nie; vetsug, wat Vlieg kwalik kan bekostig met die prys van kos deesdae; hartsiekte; onderdrukte immuunstelsel en, bid ‘n Vlieg dit aan, seksuele disfunksie! Hiervan is Vlieg nie so seker

nie. Is dit nie juis van te vroeg gaan slaap (nie noodwendig bed toe gaan nie) dat hierdie dalk ‘n probleem kan word nie? Dalk nie dr Lim Poh Hin se navorsing nie, eerder dr. Lim Poh Pol!
Wat Vlieg egter vandeesweek laat wonder het, is dat te min slaap blykbaar ook kan lei tot ‘n laer emosionele drumpel (wat dit ookal beteken), verswakte konsentrasie, prikkelbaarheid, depressie, buierigheid, angs en matige paranoia! Dit is laasgenoemde wat
Wat is die slaap?
Vlieg laat bekommer het dat hy dalk te min slaap. Dit voel vir Vlieg die laaste week kompleet of hy
kort-kort oor sy skouer moet loer, asof iets hom jaag, totdat hy agtergekom het wat dit was! Die dood! Nou, Vlieg is op rekord hier op bladsy twee, dat hy nie bang is vir die dood nie. Die dood kan hom maar jaag as hy dink dat hy hom gevang sal kry. En al kry hy vir Vlieg ge-
vang, so be it. Die dood is nie so sleg nie, ten minste nie vir die dooie nie! Die slegte ding van die dood is vir die wat agterbly. Vlieg het vandeesweek ‘n vriend begrawe, een van baie jare. Dit was sleg. Wat egter die slegste was, was om die jong weduwee, maaiers en papie te sien wat agterbly. En maak nie saak wat die skrifgeleerdes probeer predik nie, selfs Vlieg weet nie wat met ons na die dood gebeur nie. Ons kan net hoop… en glo! Wat vir Vlieg egter lekker was van sy vriend se dood — as hy ‘n oomblik gegun sal word om so eendersdenkend, of dalk andersdenkend ligsinnig te wees — is dat hy vir ‘n verandering gevoel het of hy op die regte begrafnis was. Dat dit opreg oor die oorledene gegaan het en nie oor iemand wat almal probeer glo het hy regtig was nie — soos by die meeste begrafnisse wat Vlieg onlangs bygewoon het. Cheers Basie. Verdere stilstand? Sterk en rigtinggewende leiding in die Groter Tzaneen Munisipaliteit is broodnodig. Talle amptenare slinger rigtingloos in hul portefeuljes rond en ernstige afskeepwerk is aan die orde van die dag. Dissipline in die raad se kantore is sorgwekkend swak. Die GTM ploeter nou al jare lank rond, sonder ‘n nuwe stel verordeninge (“bylaws”). Daar is geen verkeersplan vir Tzaneen nie. Daar is ooglopend geen parkeplan nie. Daar is geen raad vir die informele sektor (smouse) nie, wat besig is om op ‘n krisis af te stuur. Tenders lewer die een hofgeding na die ander op. Ontwikkelaars kla dat amptenare nie die groei en vooruitgang van die dorp op die hart dra nie. Sprake van nepotisme en bedrog gaan net nie lê nie. En, en, en... Nou is daar uiteindelik weer ‘n munisipale bestuurder aangestel, maar die vakbond (SA Munisipale Werkersunie) meen “die suksesvolle kandidaat is nie aanvaarbaar nie, want hy het ‘n geraamte in die kas en is dus nie welkom om die topposisie te beklee nie”. Mag Tzaneen dit gespaar bly dat die amptenare en raadslede vir ‘n lang ruk leierloos bly, of iemand kry wat nie met groot bekwaamheid en integriteit die dorp en omgewing in ‘n sinvolle rigting kan stuur nie. Op die oomblik lyk sake nie rooskleurig nie en bly mens bekommerd.

Behoort iemand wat bestuurslesse gee ‘n voorbeeld van versigtige en veilige gedrag agter ‘n voertuig se stuurwiel te wees? Mens sou so dink. Die man wat Saterdag dié motor bestuur het, dink klaarblyklik nie so nie. Nadat hy hom min aan rooi verkeersligte gesteur het (eintlik glad nie daaraan gesteur het nie), volgens goeie waarneming dalk nie by die snelperk deur die dorp gehou het nie, sy vingers gebruik het vir tekens wat niks met verkeershandtekens te make het nie, het hy met ‘n tonguitsteekhouding in die middel van die rybaan by Sugar Loaf gestop, uitgeklim en inkopies gaan doen. Laat mens dink die duik in die modderskerm is dalk nie weens ‘n leerling se gebrekkige bestuurervaring nie...!

Many years ago I read a book by a scientist, who set out the scientific proof that certain miracles could be proved. I can’t remember if this included the miracles that Jesus had performed. I remember that he mentioned the crossing of the Red Sea by Moses. He discusses the possibility of earth’s movement, the melting of the ice caps and other scientific phenomenon. He also explained how it was possible that Lot’s wife could have been turned into a pillar of salt by chemical reactions. At first, one can get the impression that he is trying to disprove the Bible’s account, but he asks the question: “how did those involved know to be there at that specific time and how did Moses know to stretch out his rod?” Moses trusted in a spiritual being and was directed by his belief. This spiritual being was God. Do we still believe that miracles can happen today? We have seen how technology has developed and I often wonder
if the Bible is still effective when we can just Google things. Then again these are man’s or human interpretations. Are they Godly inspired? We believe that although the Bible was written by many authors they were inspired by God. One can just read the various Gospels and find a slightly different account of the occurrences, but there is always a common thread, yes a Godly thread. It is through belief in a Supreme being — God — that we can discern what is truthful and yes I believe that the Bible is true and things recorded in it actually happened. But then I am a believer in Christ, His Father and the Holy Spirit. In the closing sentence of this book I mentioned in the start, the author states: “I am a Christian” Are we too Christians who believe in miracles or do we put our trust in modern day technology? Mors water J A Krog, Lushof, Tzaneen, skryf: Vergun my asseblief die geleentheid om ook my stuiwer in die armbeurs te gooi (of om ‘n hopie gloeiende kole op die hoofde van sekere GTM “groot koppe” te pak). Hier op Lushof-kleinhoewes loop ‘n waterpyp wat vars water aan die bewoners wat dit verkies, verskaf. Omdat nie alle Lushofbewoners die waterleiding wou gebruik nie is dit so dat die waterpyp ondergronds oor van sekere kleinhoewes loop, waar die water nie gebruik word nie. Toe ek so drie weke gelede op ‘n Saterdagmiddag ‘n entjie met die serwituut-paadjie gaan stap, sien ek by ons buurman, reg oorkant ons hoewe, ‘n plas water. Toe ek nader stap tot by my buurman se heining sien ek helder skoon water onder
die grond uitborrel. Ek het dadelik besef dat dit net water uit die Munisipale pypleiding kan wees. Toe ek met buurman gaan praat daaroor vertel hy my dat die lek al etlike maande lank bestaan en dat hy al verkeie kere daaroor met die dorpsraad gepraat het. Die antwoord wat hy telkens kry is, “Don’t worry, it will stop by itself.” Nou ja, ek het konserwatief geskat dat daar ten minste twee liter per minuut uitlek, maar buurman sê hy is seker dit is minstens duisend liter per uur. As my skatting reg is, word daar meer as twintig duisend liter per week gemors, weens moedswillige laksheid. En as buurman se skatting reg is... Nou ja, ‘n mens sal dan ten minste die splinternuwe Munisipale swembad halfpad kan vul met die wat wat hier so lekker uit die pyp lek!
Dokters in Tzaneen het aan die Bulletin bevestig dat hulle tans baie pasiëte vir ‘n maagvirus-probleem behandel. Maar nie een van die dokters het vir ons gesê dit is só ernstig nie. En as die Polisie se diens op die oomblik nie so waffers is nie, moet mense begrip toon dat die probleem by die SAPD beslis geen gemak(huis)like saak is nie.

A resident from Modjadjiskloof died on Friday night on the R36 between Tzaneen and Nkowankowa, when he apparently lost control over his motor cycle and collided with oncoming traffic. Mr C H le Roux was declared dead on the scene. Nobody else was injured in the accident, said Lt Col. Ngoepe, SAPS’ spokesman for the Tzaneen cluster.

Death on R36 A passenger died on Saturday night when the driver of a red Nissan LDV lost control of the vehicle on the R36 between Tzaneen and Nkowankowa. The vehicle rolled and six passengers were seriously injured and taken to hospital by paramedics of ER 24. Mr Matome Mashapa was declared dead on the scene. A case of culpable homicide is investigated by the police.

Development Corporation in Nkowankowa. He moved from there to Sanlam in 1983 and became branch manager in 1985. Groenewald joined PSG In 1999 and was the only one at that time in Tzaneen. Protest still continues
Clashes between the police and protesters are continuing in the baPhalaborwa area. Protesting residents are using burning tyres and other barricades to blockade the R71 to the Kruger National Park and the R40 linking Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit. Residents are protesting against the Phalaborwa Mining Company’s alleged decision to open a steel plant in Mpumalanga. Police spokesperson Lt Col Ronel Otto said hundreds of community members were taking part in the protest action in the area, which she described as “volatile and tense”. On Tuesday night the R71 was blocked again and several vehicles were damaged by people throwing stones. One vehicle was also set alight. Motorists should rather avoid the area. Reports had also been received of spaza shops being looted and burnt. The protest, organised by the local unemployment forum, started on Monday. The forum accused the company of not recruiting local residents, Otto said. Phalaborwa Copper spokesperson Hulisani Nemaxwi said the unemployment forum, communities and the various tribal councils had been involved
in the recruitment process that started in January. “We asked people to submit CV’s at their tribal councils, and have them stamped by the tribal office to make sure the CV’s were from local residents and not outsiders. We collected 16 000 CV’s and started the process of recruiting,” said Nemaxwi. He said the forum approached the company and demanded that the CV’s be thrown away, and be replaced by hundred others. “The sad thing is people who are protesting do not know that their forum want to do away with 16 000 job applicants and replace them with the hundred coming directly from them,” he said. He added that production at the mine has dropped as protesters prevented buses transporting workers from entering the premises. Contractors’ vehicles were set alight, he said. “This unfortunate development is happening at the most critical time in the mining industry and the economy. Five people arrested for alleged murder
Five suspects remain in custody after appearing in the Bolobedu Magistrate’ Court on Tuesday. They were arrested after allegedly kidnapping, assaulting and killing a 35-year-old man at Relela. The suspects, aged between 23 and 40, were not granted bail and the case was remanded to 14 August. According to Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the deceased was assaulted after allegations that he had been involved in a spate of robberies and assault. Ngoepe again asked the community not to take the law into their own hands.

Die Laerskool Tzaneen se o.12-netbalmeisies het gedurende die Afgelope skoolvakansie aan die SA Skolenetbalkampioenskappe in Pretoria deelgeneem. Christelle Coetzer was die wenner in die afdeling vir meisies o.14, met ‘n tyd van 14 min 18 sek. Anri McLean het vyfde gekom in die ouderdomsgroep vir meisies o.15. Joline Spaumer was agtste onder die meisies o.16. Hier is Christelle, Joline Anri na hul onderskeie wedlope bymekaar.

Anke Vaughn, Lachlan Truesdale and Paul and Lara Dando from Stanfored Lake College took part in the Phalaborwa Spur MTB Race. Anke came second in her age category (u.16) and Paul won his (u.16). They also competed in the Levubu MTB Challenge a week later, where Anke won her age category while Lachlan (u.17) came second and Paul came first in their respective age categories. Lachlan, Paul, Lara as well as Bryce Reed also took part in the first Limpopo Cycling training camp held during the last weekend of the holiday. A great time was had by all and the camp was the perfect way to prepare for the tough Mountain Biking season ahead.

Dit was ‘n opwindende wedstryd wat die Plasies oortuigend met 3-0 gewen het. Makungu Nkolele (2) en Jack Marula (1) het die Plasies se doele aangeteken. In ‘n baie taai wedstryd het die twee skole se senior spanne gelykop gespeel, sonder dat ‘n doel aangeteken is. Hier gee Philemon Mabidilala (regs) van Merensky die bal na ‘n mede-speler, onder groot druk van ‘n King’s Court-speler.
Sports Hero Die Hoërskool Merensky se Wilmari Moller het Saterdag op ‘n merkwaardige wyse die nasionale Totpak Vierwielmotorfietsren in Louis Trichardt gewen en sodoende die distrik- én die nasionale kompetisie vir vrouejaers gewen. Wilmari het met die tyd-uitdunne in ‘n sloot beland en kon eers 29ste wegspring, ongeveer sewe minute na die voorlopers! Sy is eintlik geen kans gegun deur die toeskouers nie, maar dit is mense wat haar nog nie ken nie. Sy is ‘n vasbyter min en getrou aan haar aard het sy nie op haar laat wag nie en al die deelnemers na twee rondtes verbygesteek! Dit vra voorwaar om gedoen te word!

SLC first XV pulled off a remarkable win Stanford Lake College’s first rugby team competed in a Beeld Trophy game (for small schools) against Belfour High School on Saturday and in a remarkable match pulled off a solid win (40-10). The game was an extremely physical encounter with both teams throwing everything they had at one another. After a close contest for much of the game, the Stanford boys eventually found their form and ran in six really well executed tries, to beat their opponents 40-10. The team will
now travel to Mpumalanga to take on Morgenzon in the second round of the knockout competition tomorrow (Saturday). In Oubal se laerskooldae het hy die jeugroman ‘Die Avonture van Jarok’ gelees. Jarok was ‘n jong Bengalese olifant-hanteerder wat namens sy gesin moes swoeg om liggaam en siel aanmekaar te hou in die woude en moerasse van Suidoos-Asië. Die moesonreëns was een van verskeie struikelblokke in die arme Jarok se lewe. Nou in Oubal se kinderlike gemoed was ‘n woud iets soos sy oorlede oupa se populierbos op die plasie anderkant Magaliesburg, ‘n moeras was die vleitjie wat sy oupa met die einste populierbos wou droog suig, en helaas, die moeson was iets soos ‘n laatmiddag donderbui op die Hoëveld — maar Oubal was verkeerd. Hóé verkeerd het Oubal eers heelwat later in Kwaggasrand Hoër se skoolbiblioteek uitgevind. ‘Tja, die moeson is heelwat meer as die reën wat ons hier te lande in Februarie 2000 gehad het. Daarmee eindig die toetsreeks toe ook onbeslis, met ‘n groter debakel tot gevolg, want volgens die IKR se metode van puntetoekenning om spanne se rangorde te bepaal, verloor SA nou vyf rangpunte en Bangladesh haal ses in. Hoogs onverdiend vir beide spanne, tensy die IKR tot hul sinne kom en beslis dat daar ‘n minimum aantal werklike speeldae moet wees vir ‘n puntetoekenning, maar Oubal hou nie asem op nie.
Magaliesburgse Moeson? laagliggende lande soos, sê nou maar, Bangladesh (wat toe nog Oos-Pakistan was), spook miljoene mense dan letterlik om kop bo water te hou. Dit behoort gevolglik kollega Vlieg se hart te verbly dat Oubal ‘n slag oor iets anders as rakbie wil praat, want dit gaan Oubal se verstand te bowe dat KSA ‘n toer na Bangladesh kan reël in die moesonseisoen.
