Stylkop burns An aerial photograph of the Stylkop fire taken from the Spotter plane on Tuesday morning. The blaze has since been brought under control but is being monitored very closely and LFPA resources - two choppers, a spotter plane and Helitact team, are still fighting in the area.
Incident commander on the ground was Pieter Henning with the three pilots including Simon Venter in the Spotter plane and Mathew Carter and Charles Burger in choppers Pappa and Kilo. Four hours into the fight it appeared as though the fire was losing momentum and the aircraft stood down. The rest of the day and through Wednesday, all was quiet on the Stylkop front. On Thursday however, the fire seemed to have flared up again and the LFPA aircraft resources were dispatched once more. Their main objective was fire suppression from the

air. On the ground, four private landowners had pitched in to help and were fighting the blaze with their “bakkie sakkies” in support of the aircrafts. When Bulletin spoke to Maritza Swanepoel of the LFPA on Thursday afternoon, it was estimated that 45 hectares of grassland and bush had already been devoured. According to her, it was an intense fight on the day, because of the heavy winds. “The fire itself is not that hectic at the moment, although we are trying to keep it from reaching the Matume and Cashumi plantations below the cliffs,” she said. “The wind is

making it difficult for the choppers, but so far it looks under control. The Working on Fire team could not be dispatched as it would take them too long to reach the fire line, but we have our Helitact team in place.” A relief spotter plane from Nelspruit, piloted by Frank Smook, also joined the fight. At the time of going to print, the fire had still been kept at bay and was being closely monitored both from the air and the ground. “Our biggest fear is that the fire jumps off the cliffs down into Georges Valley.” A fire has been raging in the Stylkop cliffs above Georges Valley since Tuesday morning. An aircraft was called in to assist with the fire at around 12:00 that afternoon. By the end of the day, approximately 20 hectares of indigenous bush and grasslands had been destroyed and the fire showed no sign of letting up. Letaba Fire Protection Association dispatched their resources to the fire line which included a spotter plane, two choppers, a Helitact team and an aircraft support vehicle. The

A vehicle was reportedly hijacked and left to burnout on the railway tracks near Impala Street in Tzaneen’s industrial area over the weekend. Bulletin was at the scene when the police forensics expert was dusting for finger prints. The vehicle had been partially burnt out and the interior was completely destroyed by the flames. The owner of the vehicle was at the scene, but was not willing to give the media any information. He did say that he was hijacked at gunpoint. The provincial spokesperson for the police, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe had no knowledge of the incident but has promised to investigate and revert back.

official PAIA request forms and tariffs that are applicable for the furnishing of any information that is requested in terms of the relevant act. Should you not be in a position to furnish them directly to me, kindly ensure that they are placed on the GLM website as a matter of urgency. To make your life easier, I have summarised my rights by copying the relevant section of the relevant Act that looks after the rights of the local community: The Municipal Systems Act no 32 of 2000 prescribes the public’s right to contact the council, and receive a prompt reply: “5. (1) Members of the local community have the right— (b) to prompt responses to their written or oral communications, including complaints, to the municipal council or to another political structure or a political office bearer or the administration of the municipality;” (c) to be informed of decisions of the municipal council, or another political structure or any political office bearer of the municipality, affecting their rights, property and reasonable expectations;” If you google the meaning of the word “Prompt” it is given as follows: done without delay; immediate. I am prepared to work together but, as stated, would prefer you to also accept that working together creates a more harmonious relationship, but the effort has to be put in from your side. Using delaying tactics and plain ignoring of correspondence is not an attempt at trying to work together.

Lovers, I am disappointed that you never replied to me on this matter and furnish me with the details of the information officer, and deputy information officer as requested. I contacted the Human Rights Commission who have been extremely helpful in this matter, it has just taken time. After laying my written complaint with them, they finally contacted me today (19th of July) to inform

The correspondence reads as follows:
me that their records show that the municipal manager is the information officer and have furnished me with her contact details. Why could you not have simply furnished me with that information? Why should I have been forced to go to the Human Rights Commission to get this information? They also stated that the PAIA information should be placed on the website. Their representative explained to me that this refusal to provide me with the relevant information could justify a complaint being laid by me with the Public Protector on the grounds of municipal maladministration coupled with the fact that the municipal manager has a very bad habit of not replying to correspondence from the residents and community in general. As stated previously in correspondence to you I am aware of my rights having done extensive internet research etc on the matter and reading the various acts that apply to municipalities. I prefer to work together with people as opposed to the confrontational route, but if people do not want to try to reciprocate with the “working together” option, then I will use the confrontational route and use the relevant complaint channels that are at my disposal. In the light of the fact that there are rumours that Mrs Mashaba (municipal manager) is having her contract extended and these rumours, to date, have not been denied, leads me to ask you to furnish me with the name and contact details of the deputy information officer as a previous excuse offered by you to my queries about Mrs Mashaba never replying to correspondence was that she was always busy. I would also like an English copy of the PAIA manual, together with the

R71 debate deepens “That area of the R71 is the responsibility of the Greater Tzaneen Municipality as it runs through their area,” said Joshua Kwapa, the provincial spokesperson for the Department of Roads and Transport. “The municipality is obligated to promulgate bylaws that deal with hawkers who trade in unsafe areas. If the bylaws are not adhered to, those people should be prosecuted according to those bylaws.” This was the official stance of the provincial department of roads and transport on the contentious issue of the R71 road running through Tzaneen, and the illegal hawkers trading there. This follows Bulletin’s investigations into the matter which has led to a run around between the GTM, SANRAL and the Provincial Traffic department. Kwapa used Polokwane as an example. “We had a similar situation in Polokwane not so long ago. The hawkers along the national roads make the road unsafe for motorists and pedestrians and the municipality there, dealt with it.” According to him, the municipality erected “no trading” and “no stopping” signs in the areas where the hawkers setup shop, promulgated bylaws making trade in those areas illegal, and then prosecuted those who continued to trade there. The situation was cleared up. In response to this comment, the spokesperson for the Greater Tzaneen Municipality, Neville Ndlala said that Kwapa was not in a position to answer a media enquiry on the matter as he is not the national spokesperson. “I don’t know why he commented on the topic because he is on provincial level and the road is a national road.”

UP DATE Bulletin sent another email enquiry to the GTM to try and make sense of the problem on the back of this new insight from Kwapa. We asked Ndlala, who erected the “no-stopping” and “no-hawking” signs in Tzaneen, when they were erected and whether the bylaws governing them were ever promulgated. “We have responded to these questions several times, The R71 road is a national road and SANRAL is responsible for it and queries should therefore be directed to SANRAL. The South African National Road Agency Limited and National Roads Act of 1998, section 52, Subsection (1) and (2) clearly outlines that function and steps to be taken in an event that a person(s) violate the act. We therefore can no longer entertain this issue as it has been addressed on several occasions and the relevant agency has acknowledged the fact that it is responsible for that road,” Ndlala said. Bulletin has received information from a confidential source within the GTM that certain councillors allegedly have active interests in the activities of these hawkers. The confidential source also claimed that some of the councillors have family members who run these roadside stalls. This is allegedly the reason why nothing is being done about removing them. We asked Ndlala for comment on these allegations. “I cannot respond to speculations or rumours, I can only respond to facts. The GTM cannot form opinions on the matter but can only respond on the merit of the issue under discussion,” Ndlala replied. — Joe Dreyer joe@bulletin.us.com

Government is failing South Africa The DA members came to address the Haenertsburg community in the Village Hall on Tuesday evening. They were Lindy Wilson MP, Jacques Smalle DA Provincial Leader and Anette Steyn DA Shadow Minister of Agriculture and Rural Safety. The DA coverage of Limpopo is huge as there are 104 wards in Limpopo including Haenertsburg. Anette Steyn admitted that crime in South Africa is out of control and government is failing its people. There were
49 murders a day in 2016. There are now 51 murders a day in 2017. Brutality has increased. Brutality has to do with criminals who have time. Suspects also believe that farmers are lying and perceive them to be wealthy with money and weapons. The ANC doesn’t understand agriculture as it believes all farmers are wealthy. There’s been a loss of 56,000 jobs in the first quarter of this year in Limpopo. There are 13 schools where children do
not have toilets. There are 79 incomplete projects. Some 50 kms from the village is a school where there are no children and no teachers. Yet R20-million was spent there on a school earmarked for 600 children. The DA has established that there’s a shortage of qualified blockmen. This is being discussed with technical colleges. There’s been a R7.6 million irregular expenditure in Limpopo in one financial year. Haenertsburg police station only has one 4x4 vehicle. Crime in this area has moved from what’s regarded as
petty crime, like stealing avos, to people. The higher the crime, the more resources SAPS gets. 79,000 whites didn’t bother to vote last time and their vote in the next election is crucial. There is then a real chance for the ANC to drop below 50% in Limpopo. Fortunately South Africans outside the country voted and this will also make a big difference in the next elections. The transitions in the Metros went well. Many of those municipalities were so bloated that it took time to correct the situation.

Wiping the trauma away Statistics show that roughly 80 percent of the victims of a farm attack or aggravated house robbery will not return to their home. The victims are often so traumatized that they cannot bear reliving the experience. Most people are of the impression that the crime scenes are cleaned up by the police and forensics teams after they have concluded their investigations. This is, sadly, not the case. To this end, there exists an occupation very few people know, or more to the point, understand the importance of. Crime Scene cleaners are the unappreciated few, who clean up a crime scene and get rid of that which the crime scene investigators, the police forensics and the medics leave behind after a murder, farm attack or suicide investigation. Many frown upon the profession until they grasp the importance of what these individuals do. “Basically we clean up the area in which the incident happened in such a manner that you would never know that it happened,” explained Bonnita Becker of 24 Hour Crime Scene Clean Up. Becker and her partner, Yana Mockford, operate out of Polokwane, but have just recently started helping out at crime scenes in the Haenertsburg and Letsitele areas where farm attacks have been on the increase. The pair will move into the area after being giv-
en the go ahead by the police and forensics units. The walls, carpets and tiles are scrubbed with a special chemical that causes blood to coagulate, preventing it from spreading to other areas of the house. The blood is then scooped up into special “HazMat” (Hazardous Materials) bags, boxed and sent off to be incinerated. Carpets, mattresses and bedding that have been stained are cleaned and disinfected, or replaced. Carpets and wooden floor tiles are removed to clean beneath them. “We have specialised chemicals which remove not only blood stains, but rids the air around the crime scene of harmful pathogens often contained in the blood.” To clean a home after an attack or suicide can take anything from two, to eight hours. It is said that the girls are so thorough, a surgery can be performed in the room after they leave. You would never know they were there. Crime scene cleaners work mostly at night and it often happens that they discover a piece of evidence not noticed by the crime scene investigators earlier that day. Becker related one particular incident where they cleaned up a pool of blood and found bullet cartridges beneath, which had evaded the police. “We carry police evidence bags with us at all times because sometimes it happens that we find stuff the investigators missed. We work closely with the police in that sense, as sometimes the evidence we discover later, can help solve a crime quicker.” Great care is given to detail, and the girls add their own special touch to scenes in some instances to help the victims recover from their trauma. In one case a lady’s television set had been stolen
during a house robbery. In its place, the girls put a giant bowl of colourful fruit. “Our objective is to make returning home after an incident, as comfortable and trauma-free as possible for the victims of violent crimes. We don’t want you to relive any of the distress after the ordeal. We have to ensure that after the police and the investigators have left the scene, those that are left behind can go on with their lives as quickly and normally as possible.” There is a big difference between a real crime scene and that which the movies portray. “Heels. Nobody at a crime scene wears expensive heels, a pencil skirt and barks orders to investigators over the rim of her Raybans. There are no quirky jokes and tough guys. It’s traumatic, serious and in most instances very emotional. You don’t want a family member to have to clean up a suicide or a murder of a loved one.” After cleaning of the crime scene is completed, a clearance certificate is issued which is used to claim back the expenses from your insurer. It is a little known fact that crime scene cleaning services are covered by most insurance policies. The specialized cleaning services cover homicides, suicides, Meth-lab clean-ups, hoarding or distressed properties clean-up and emergency medical clean-up services. For any further information on the services offered by 24 Hour Crime Scene Clean-Up, and how to contact them in the case of an emergency, visit their website at www.24hcsc.co.za. — Joe Dreyer joe@bulletin.us.com

‘n Gedenkdiens vir Imke is gister in Amerika by die GA Kerk gebou in New York gehou.

Gedurende daardie maand is elf mense wreedaardig vermoor. — Joe Dreyer

The Message Dr Jan Truter
Dit was so lank soos een en ‘n halwe rugbyveld en so hoog soos ‘n vier-verdieping gebou. Daar kon ongeveer 45 000 diere inpas. 2. Onthou ons is almal uiteindelik in dieselfde boot. 3. Mag die Here by ons wees.

Finding the ruins of the observatory The Cyril Jackson Observatory is two kilometers outside Haenertsburg, towards Polokwane. Turn sharp right at the large red, white and black road-narrowing sign leading onto a dirt road. Bear right and the sign is immediately on the right. Follow the short newly cleared footpath to the ruins of what once was astronomer Cyril Jackson’s observatory. Cyril had built this small stone observatory, during the years before his retirement, in the early 1950’s. The inscription on the bend-your-head doorway reads, ‘Erno Star House 1955.’ The observatory once had a wooden roof that slid on train tracts across pillars. When he retired to the

village in 1966, he lived on this farm, called Hilltop, and used the observatory. He was known as a loner who always walked to the village and dedicated his time to astronomy. He later moved to Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, where he died in February 1988. The now owner of the property, Linda Changuion, dreams of finding old photographs of the original observatory so that she can restore it. She values the old and this is evidenced by her museum at the Pennefather complex on Rissik Street. Cyril was born on the 5th of December 1903 in Osset, on the outskirts of Leeds in Yorkshire, in the UK. His family came to South Africa in 1911 and he went to Forest High School in Turffontein, Johannesburg, becoming their first dux. He obtained his BSc in 1922 at the University of the Witwatersrand . Cyril worked at Union and was later Director of Yale Columbia Southern Station, Johannesburg, when the 26-inch Y-C telescope had to be moved away from the light pollution of Johannesburg. The first choice was Polokwane, but that municipality refused to service the site. So, Cyril moved it to Mount Stromlo in Canberra, Australia. He went on to establish a South Station at El Leoncita in Argentina. He was involved in the Second World War and helped in the settlement of Jewish refugees. Cyril made several discoveries during his lifetime and was appointed president of the South African Astronomy Association from 1935 to 1936. He discovered his first minor asteroid, Catriona, in 1929. He went on to discover 72 new minor asteroids and most were given South African names such as Letaba, Limpopo, Messina and Saldanha. He named one after his wife Aletta. He discovered three comets, two of which can still be seen today. His first comet was in 1935 and his second the following year. A Russian astronomer, Grigory Neujmin, independently found the comet. Today it is known as 58P Jackson-Neujmin. Cyril’s third comet was found by accident in 1948. Astronomer Joseph Ashbrook had found the comet 12 hours earlier. Today it’s known as 47P Ashbrook-Jackson. Cyril sold the observatory ground in the 1970’s and the site passed into distant memory until it was rediscovered. Magda Streicher from the Astronomical Society of Southern Africa identified the site and had it registered as a Provincial Heritage Site with the National Heritage Foundation. She also contributed to the display at the Pennefather museum.

Tzaneen hikes to educate girls When the campaign started, the aim was to raise awareness of the issue of young girls missing school because they cannot afford sanitary pads. The campaign ran on social media and made use of the Tzaneng mall Woolies center court, as a point where people could donate towards the target which was 150 packets of pads. After 10 days, the organization had col-
lected more than 300 packets of sanitary pads to donate to schools. Last year’s Mandela day donation only sustained each young girl for three months and this was clearly not enough to have a long-term impact on the amount of learning that these girls were missing out on. This led to the idea of sustainability through expanding what the initiative was
asking for and coming up with other solutions for the girls. By introducing the #hikeforagirlchild campaign they were not just asking for money, they were asking for active involvement from the community. A hike fits perfectly into the campaign’s vision and mission to educate and empower young girls because for most of them, a walking distance of 10 to 15 Km’s is an added challenge to getting to school every day. “I was nervous that we has ever led through the De- bengeni hiking trail. would barely reach 20 people, because it The difference between this hike and others that Nyis easier for people to drop a few coins in iko and Polokwane fitness trainer Thabo Ntuli, had in a box than dedicate their Saturday the past is that the people were not brought togethmorning to walking 10 km’s in the er through fitness they were brought together by the mountains of Magoebaskloof,” said purpose of keeping a girl child in school.

An “eye opener” Mandela Day package “Once a Rotarian, always a Rotarian” - Although now resigned from Rotary, local optometrist, Jacques van Niekerk cannot resist doing his part for the community. In partnership with Optical Alliance, Jacques van Niekerk Optometrist, offered full screening, single vision lenses and frames to those who are underprivileged, pensioners and senior citizens as his act of service for Mandela Day. When a starting package for single vision lens spectacles starts at R900, one can only imagine what a difference this makes to some people’s lives when they are unemployed or earning minimum wage. One patient got a big surprise when he told her that she would not have passed her driver’s license renewal eye test and to another, aged 54, who has never worn spectacles in her life, he said, “it will be a real eye-opener” when he wrote out her script for reading glasses. Optical Alliance sponsors the frames and generally the lenses too, for this Mandela Day initiative, however, due to the courier costs, Van Niekerk personally decided to issue, cut and fit the lenses himself. “When a job is worth doing, it is worth doing it well” is the motto that Van Niekerk not only lives by but was raised on, as it is a motto passed down by his grandfather, and it is because of
this motto that Jacques believes in not only doing business well, but doing it with heart. “One cannot only take from a community, one must also give back.” Well, what an eye opener for us to see that there is always a way to give back. Jacques van Niekerk, who served as a Rotarian for 26 years, is still active in the community through the Lions Operation Brightside, which is a project, established in 1976, that assists underprivileged sight impaired citizens in desperate need of obtaining spectacles at minimal cost. Due to the high demands for low-cost spectacles, Lions Operation Brightside, in less than two years, developed itself into a professional service that still operates and changes lives today. Many have commented, “ManMargaret Ramonyathi (54) a domestic worker, has her eyes tested by Jacques van Niekerk. dela Day should be everyday and not only 67 minutes one day of the year” so why not take only a few min- of old spectacles or frames, any day of the information on how you can “change lives utes out of your day to stop off at Van Niek- year, which will be fitted with new prescrip- by changing eyes” contact Jacques van Niekerk’s practice in Loop Street to donate a pair tion lenses for someone in need. As part of the Mandela Day drive by local radio station, GTFM, on Wednesday, OK Sugarhill Mini-Market travelled to Nkambako Village to visit a Primary School whose students were receiving new uniforms. In partnership with Mayo Dairy and Falconwood Beverages, Sugarhill were able to treat more than 200 elated children from this impoverished area with a lunch pack, Mayo yoghurts and Splash
soft drinks. They also handed out some stationary to the pupils who showed their appreciation through song and dance. The snack packs included a fruit, a sandwich, a juice and a sweet. “It was such an honour to be a part of this drive,” said OK Sugarhill general manager, Sinj Clegg. “Big shout-out to Mayo Dairy and Falconwood Beverages for their contribution which added some extra joy to the occasion.”

Philippe Buyst, Avuxeni Letaba Area Manager, accompanied a number of the academy’s students to the home of the Ngobeni family in Ga-Wally Village where, as part of the Sekgosese Community Radio drive, they fixed up the family’s home. The family of eight live in a four-roomed house. The family depends on social grants for their survival each month. The Ngobeni home have had some issues which included safety as the house is situated next to a tavern and there is no fence around the yard. The windows have no panes and most of the
doors to the house were unable to lock properly. Build It jumped on board along with Avuxeni and Sekgosese this week and restored the family home to a safe and comfortable environment by repairing the window panes, doors and leaking toilets. The group then jumped into gear and gave the house a brand new makeover with a few coats of paint. “It was such a fantastic moment,” explained Buyst. “To know that in some small way we were a part of the group responsible for making life a little easier for those who carry such burdens. Avuxeni wishes the Ngobeni family a blessed stay in their newly revamped home.” — Joe Dreyer

Come to the village for winter food Being in the grips of a rather chilly winter, the many Haenertsburg restaurants are offering weekly special winter warmers and comfort foods. There’s a choice of three soups at Minki’s, the Iron Crown Pub & Bistro had squid as their week-
ly special and now a tub of prawns this week. Caffè Villa has man-size portions of oxtail or lamb shanks and then a walk down Rissik Street to the Village Kitchen for tea and cake. Outside the village try one of Lekwar’s
bunny chows. There’s a choice of chicken or mutton. Then off to the Pot & Plow for one of their long-time favourites, a variety of pies with mash and gravy and wash it down with Zwakala’s new Upside Down craft beer.

craftsmanship. The top balustrade, probably fashioned of beautiful wood, is gone. Nothing but brown and green mould adorns the walls. There are no Stations of the Cross. The baptismal font is gone. A tree snakes its way through the walls and up and out again into the sunlight. An attempt to climb up the steeple from the inside was impossible. The cement walls crumbled under the slightest pressure and the wooden beams were no longer strong enough to support any weight. Visible from the ground were two platforms. A ladder on the second platform gave some hope that the steeple could be explored. Further than that one cannot see any more from the ground. From the outside, the steeple is flanked by three rounded wooden louvred openings. Some louvres are missing from the end opening. Whilst trying to get into the steeple a barn owl was disturbed inside. Suddenly, the owl flew out the An ancient tree snakes its way missing louvre gap and quickly soared through the church walls. off towards the yonder mountains.
empty cheap wine bottles and filth, this must have been one of the most beautiful churches in its day. There are several rooms attached to the church. The skeleton of the confessional whispers of a time of beautiful wood and
One of two stained glass windows that flank the altar.
The inside of the church that lets in soft light.
The cellar or basement was more accessible than the steeple. The stairs down into the cellar quickly descend into darkness. The walls, instead of feeling claustrophobic, evoke a sense of comfort. Amongst the rubble and damp floor is a glove, a teacup and a wine bottle, suggesting that homeless people had sought refuge in the dark yet warm enclosure. The cellar contains an air of security and safety, as if kind hands with loving hearts built it. Light was soon visible, leading into a small tunnel filled with debris. The tunnel leads out into the open air where perhaps a garden or seating area once lay. There’s a second building with some 16 rooms. The assumption is that this was the monks’ sleeping quarters. The beauty of the church is definitely the inside rather than the outside which is quite austere. Leaving the monastery, there was a quick stop at the cemetery. Some of the graves are quite recent and some go back to the 1940s. Buried there are the Collins and Roux families as well as the Maake, Makgoba and Letsoalo families.

The elderly on The Mountain speak about being baptised in the monastery down the Magoebaskloof. A group of intrepid explorers decided to find the place. Directions were vague and quite rightly so. The property is now in private hands and word has it that trespassers are not welcome. After backtracking once, the explorers found the right dirt road with a formidable looking but open boom. A short drive, past a cemetery then up a steep hill, and there stands the church built more than a century ago. The monastery is believed to have been founded by the Flemish Province of the Subiaco Congregation (Roman Catholic Church) in 1906. Building was disrupted by both World Wars and Subiaco moved to its present home, some 40 kms out of Polokwane, in the early 1970s. The church was lovingly built with each door entrance shaped differently. The main heavy church door is a wonderful work of art and is the only fixture still intact. The two stained glass windows flanking the altar have been smashed. The arched side windows may or may not have been out of stained glass. The light filtering into the church is soft and comforting. portance it places upon good old-fashioned sportsmanship. Limpopo’s siege started on Monday morning with a 3-2 victory over the KZN Inlands team. This was followed by a 2-0 defeat of Coastals the following day and a one-goal win over Western Province that Wednesday. Despite losing by a single goal against Eastern Province on Thursday, the Lim-Ladies fought hard in the semi’s against KZN Northerns chalking up a win to push them through to the finals. Saturday’s final saw them once again meet with the girls from Western Province in what was to be a revenge match. Both teams gave it their all with the local ladies matching up to their Cape counterparts. In the end, it was one goal that separated Limpopo from the gold medal and WP won that match 2-1 to
Limpopo’s senior ladies hockey team set off to the astros at Paarl Gymnasium last week to pit their skills against the top teams in the country. This was during the South African Country Districts (SACD) tournament which started on Monday, 10th of July and culminated in a high-powered final on Saturday, the 15th. “Country Districts” refers to those areas of South Africa falling outside of the major metropolitan areas. There is an annual South African Country Districts tournament where teams from all over the country compete. While there is fierce competition on the field, the Country Districts hockey community is well-known for the im-
be crowned tournament champs. Limpopo’s captain, Ashley Lynne van Schalkwyk and goalkeeper, Alana Troger were selected into the SACD A-side who will play against invitational teams in next year’s IPTs. Monique Scheepers was rewarded for her efforts as one of the leading goal scorers of the tournament with her five very impressive strikes. The team thanks their coach Andries van der Merwe for his contribution and guidance during this season which has now come to a climatic finale. This was the first time Limpopo made it to the finals. In 2012 the provincial team managed a bronze medal at the SACD. — Joe Dreyer joe@bulletin.us.com
