Safety Rules As with all machinery there are certain hazards involved with the operation and use. Using it with caution will considerably lessen the possibility of personal injury. However, if normal safety precautions are overlooked or ignored, personal injury to the operator may result. If you have any questions relative to the installation and operation, do not use the equipment until you have contacted your supplying distributor. Read the following carefully before operating the machine: 1. Keep the working area clean and be sure adequate lighting is available. 2. Do not wear loose clothing, gloves, bracelets, necklaces or ornaments. Wear face, eye, respiratory and body protection devices as indicated for the operation or environment. 3. Be sure that the power is disconnected from the machine before tools are serviced or an attachment is to be fitted or removed. 4. Never leave the machine with the power on. 5. Do not use dull, gummy or cracked cutting tools. 6. Be sure that the keys and adjusting wrenches have been removed and all the nuts and bolts are secured.

Limited Warranty New woodworking machines sold by Laguna Tools carry a one-year warranty from the date of shipping. Laguna Tools guarantees all new machines sold to be free of manufacturers’ defective workmanship, parts, and materials. We will repair or replace, without charge, any parts determined by Laguna Tools, Inc. to be a manufacturer's defect. We require the defective item/part to be returned to Laguna Tools. In the event the item/part is determined to be damaged due to lack of maintenance, cleaning or misuse/abuse, the customer will be responsible for the cost to replace the item/part, plus all related shipping charges. This limited warranty does not apply to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, normal wear and tear, product failure due to lack of maintenance or cleaning, damage caused by accident, neglect, lack of or inadequate dust collection, or misuse/abuse or damage caused when repair or alterations have been made or attempted by others. Laguna Tools, Inc. is not responsible for additional tools or modifications sold or performed (other than from/by Laguna Tools, Inc.) on any Laguna Tools, Inc. woodworking machine. Noise emission. Notes concerning noise emission: Given that there exists a relationship between noise level and exposure times, it is not precise enough to determine the need for supplementary precautions. The factors affecting the true level of exposure to operators are clearly the amount of time exposed, the characteristics of the working environment, other sources of dust and noise, etc. For example, adjacent machines, in other words, the level of ambient noise. It is possible that exposure level limits will vary from country to country.

Receiving your machine. Note: It is probable that your machine will be delivered by a third party. Before you unpack your new machine, you will need to first inspect the packing, invoice and shipping documents supplied by the driver. Insure that there is no visible damage to the packing or the machine. You need to do this prior to the driver leaving. All damage must be noted on the delivery documents and signed by you and the delivery driver. You must then contact the seller [Laguna Tools] within 24.

Introduction to Table Saws. This Table Saw is designed to give you years of safe service. Read this owner’s manual in its entirety before assembly or use. 5

Parts of the Table Saw. The major parts are discussed in this manual. If you are not familiar with the table saw take the time to read this section and become familiar with the machine. 1. Body. 2. Dust collection port. 3. Angle adjustment handle. 4. Table. 5. Guard. 6. Fence. 7. Extension table. 8. Emergency stop button. 9. Blade height adjustment handle. 10. Electrical box and on/off switches. 11. Clamp. 12. Support table. 13. Sliding table. 14. Miter fence. Identification. There is a plate at the back of the machine listing all the manufacturing data including the serial number, model, etc. Cabinet / Body. The cabinet has a large footprint and is of welded construction manufactured from heavy gauge steel plate. The cabinet houses all the parts of the machine and the heavy construction ensures that the saw is stable. This weight also helps to absorb any vibration that is produced during cutting. Table. The table is manufactured from cast iron. The table is attached to the cabinet. The table is adjustable for being level and vertical. Extension table. An extension table is provided to increase the range of jobs that can be produced.

Trunnion. The trunnion assembly is attached to the cabinet. It is of heavy cast iron construction. It houses the motor, saw spindle, riving knife, tilt mechanism, scoring mechanism and vertical movement adjustment. This is the heart for your saw. The advantage of attaching the trunnion to the case rather than the table is that its weight is supported by the cabinet and will not twist or distort the table. Electrical system. The electrical system consists of electrical motors, start switch, stop switch and contactors. A cable is supplied but without a plug, as the type of plug will depend on your installation. If you require a longer cable than the one supplied, the cable that is supplied can be replaced by connecting a new cable to the contactor box [see electrical connection]. Rip fence. The fence is designed to give superior rigidity and is adjustable for being parallel to the blade. Dust collection. Dust collection port is 4 in diameter. It connects to the bottom of the trunnion assembly and collects the sawdust as it leaves the blade. You will need a dust collection system with a minimum of 1,000 cubic feet per minute [the stronger the better]. Throat plate. The throat plate is attached to the main table and is adjustable for being level to the table. Sliding table. The sliding table is manufactured from heavy aluminium extrusion. The table is supported by ball bearings that roll on polished flat plates. The advantage of the bearing system is that there is only point contact between the balls and the plates, which virtually eliminates the problem of dirt building up, and the sliding table will remain accurate for many years.

Miter fence. The miter fence is manufactured from heavy-duty gauge aluminium extrusion. It is supplied with a flip stop. It can be set at any angle and has built-in stops for 90 and 45 degrees. Where to locate your machine. Before you remove your machine from the pallet, select the area where you will use your machine. There are no hard and fast rules for its location, but below are a few guidelines: 1. There should be an area surrounding the machine suitable for the length of wood that you will be cutting. 2. Adequate lighting. The better the lighting the more accurately and safely you will be able to work 3. Solid floor. You should select a solid flat floor, preferably concrete or something similar. 4. Locate close to power source and dust collection. 5. Allow an area for the storage of blanks and cut jobs. Unpacking your machine. 1. Dismantle the box and lift the box off the pallet. 2.Using the knife, cut the plastic wrap. 3. Remove all the parts that have been packed with the machine. 4. Remove the machine from the pallet with a forklift. Note: If you have any doubt about the described procedure, seek professional assistance. Do not attempt any procedure that you feel is unsafe or that you do not have the physical capability of achieving.

Tools, etc Fence body Cleaning the machine. Remove the rust protection grease with WD 40 or a similar solvent. It is important that you remove all the grease and relubricate with a Teflonbased lubricant as Teflon has less tendency to attract sawdust and cause clogging. You should also wax the table as this also protects the cast iron from rust and reduces friction. Leveling the machine. The machine is provided with 4 leveling bolts. Move your machine to its final position, and, using a sprit level on the table, adjust the leveling bolts so that the table is level in both directions. Ensure that the machine does not rock.

Assembly and setup. Motor transport bracket. Remove the red motor support, transport bracket. This will allow the trunnion to be moved vertically and angularly. Fit the extension table. 1. Fit the support leg to the table. 2. Attach the table to the rear of the cast-iron main table, but do not fully tighten the clamping bolts. Support leg 3. Adjust the foot at the bottom of the support leg so that it supports the extension table. 4. Line up the extension table with the top of the cast-iron main table, and then check that the extension table is parallel with the main table, using a straight edge. Extension table 5. If the table needs adjustment for parallelism, adjust with the jacking screws while loosening the clamping bolts. 6. Once adjustment has been completed, recheck that the support leg is in contact with the ground and that it is taking the weight of the table. Check Gap needs that the clamping bolts are adjustment tight.

Fitting the fence. 1. Fit the fence scale to the side of the main table. 2. Remove a nut, flat washer and spring washer from each threaded rod on the fence bar. 3. Fit the threaded bars through the holes on the side of the main cast table and the extension table. 4. Fit the washers and the nuts to the threaded bars, but do not tighten then as you have to adjust the bar to be parallel to the table. 5. Adjust the bar so that it is approximately 他 in away from the fence scale and nip

the 2 main table nuts snug. Do not tighten the extension table nut. 6. Slide the fence body onto the bar and rest on the main table. 7. Slide the aluminium extrusion onto the fence body and clamp in position with the clamping handle.

8. Position the fence close to the front stud. Adjust the bar vertically so that there is an even gap between the table and the aluminium extrusion. Tighten the front stud nuts only. 9. Position the fence close to the back stud. Adjust the bar vertically so that there is an even gap between the table and the aluminium extrusion. Tighten the back stud nuts only. 10. Adjust the bar nuts so that the aluminium extrusion is in line with the edge of the main table. It is better to adjust the back stud only and in small steps. Loosen one of the nuts [depending on the direction required] and tighten the other nut. Check the alignment with a straight edge at both ends.

11. Recheck that the gap under the extrusion is still parallel and fully tighten the nuts on the main table. 12.Tighten the nuts that clamp the bar to the extension table, making sure that you do not distort the extension table. Adjusting the fence scale. 1. Fit a blade to the machine [covered later in the manual] 2. With no power fitted to the machine, bring the fence up to the side of the blade

so that it just touches. 3. Loosen the scale locking knob, [under the scale at the back of the machine] adjust the scale to zero and lock the scale.

Fitting the sliding table. T bolt

Locking handle 1. Fit the T bolts into the slot on the underside of the sliding table. 2. Ensure that the table is locked. 3. Lower the table onto the machine while guiding the T bolts into the slots [in the black steel blocks], and locate the socket head screws into the slots on the machine. Ensure that the washers are on the correct side of the bracket. Make sure that the jacking bolts are not damaged while assembling the table to the machine. 4. Fit the nuts and washers onto the T bolts, but do not tighten. 5. Gently pull the table so that it is up against the jacking bolt, and check the gap between the edge of the sliding table and the main table. There should be a small gap. It is suggested that a large washer be used as a guide to make the gap even at both ends of the table. 6. Tighten the socket head bolt and the T bolt progressively until the table is secure and the gap is even at both ends of the table. Straight edge

7. Unlock the table and check that it runs smoothly from end to end. 8. Using a straight edge, check that the sliding table is level with the main table [The main table should be 0 in to 0.004 in lower than the sliding table]. The table comes factory-set, but should adjustment be required, jacking screws are provided in the black steel block. It is not recommended that the jacking screws be used as it is far easier to adjust the main table to the sliding table, which is covered later in the manual. Sliding table adjustment for being parallel with the saw blade. The table must run parallel with the saw blade. The gap between the edge of the sliding table and the table is not important, and the edge of the table may not be straight as it is an extrusion. To check if the table is running true, clamp a piece of wood [1in x 1in or 2in x 2in] to the table, using the miter fence clamp. Cut the wood slowly. The teeth of the saw blade should make contact with the front and the back of the blade evenly. Fitting the main saw blade, scoring blade and riving knife. Fitting the saw blade. 1. With the power disconnected from the machine, lock the spindle by putting the spindle lock rod through the hole in the main table and rotating the spindle until the rod engages with the hole in the spindle. 2. Using the wrench provided, loosen the saw blade clamping nut, remove the nut and the clamping disc. Note: The thread is left-hand.

3. Fit the blade ensuring that the blade’s teeth are facing the correct direction. The blade cuts in a clockwise direction.

4. Refit the clamping disc, nut and tighten. Note:- Remove the spindle lock rod. Fitting the riving knife. The machine comes with the clamping block fully Spindle locking rod tightened. You will have to loosen the clamp to enable the riving knife to be fitted. 1. Fit an allen key to the center screw. 2. Loosen the clamping handle and unscrew the center screw until the riving knife can fit between the clamping block and the back plate. 3. Remove the allen key and clamp the riving knife in position with the clamping handle. Note: Adjust the riving knife so that there is between 3 mm and 8 mm clearance between it and the blade. Fitting the scoring blade. Note: The scoring blade teeth face in the opposite direction to the main blade [anti-clockwise]. 1. Holding the spindle with the wrench provided, loosen the spindle nut, and remove the nut and clamping disc. 2. Fit the scoring blade, ensuring correct tooth direction. 3. Refit the clamping disc and nut and tighten. Note: Vertical adjustment of the scoring blade is achieved with the knob at the side of the machine. Note: In/out movement of the scoring blade is achieved with an allen wrench fitted through the hole in the main table. The adjustment is very fine, and it takes many turns to adjust the blade.

Guard/dust extraction.

It is recommended that you fit a dust extraction pipe to the guard. Safety switch. There is a safety micro-switch at the side of the dust extraction area that is engaged by the blade cover. This micro-switch removes power from the motors when the guard is opened for access to the blades. Never rely on the switch, and when working on the machine, always disconnect power from the machine. When finished working in the blade area of the machine, check that the safety switch has been engaged by the guard. The Main plate machine will not start if the guard is left open and/or the switch has not been turned on. Changing and levelling the throat plate. The throat plate has 3 parts. 1. Main part that is attached directly to the main table. 2. Saw / dado plate.

3. Scoring plate. All 3 plates can be leveled to the main table independently. To level the main plate. The main plate can only be leveled with the saw/dado plate and the scoring plate removed. Loosen the clamping screws and adjust up/down checking the level with a straight edge. Once level, retighten the clamping screws and re check

with the straight edge to ensure that no movement has taken place during clamping. To level the scoring plate. Loosen the clamping screws and adjust up/down checking the level with a straight edge. Once level, retighten the clamping screws and recheck with the straight edge to ensure that no movement has taken place during clamping. Fitting a dado blade. Note: When using a dado blade, you will have to remove the saw/dado throat plate and remove the dado spacer. 1. With the power disconnected from the machine, lock the spindle by putting the spindle lock rod through the hole in the main table and rotating the spindle until the rod engages with the hole in the spindle. 2. Using the wrench provided, loosen the saw blade clamping nut, remove the nut, clamping disc and the dado spacer. Note: the thread is left-hand. 3. Fit the dado blade, ensuring that the blade’s teeth are facing the correct direction. The blade cuts in a clockwise direction. 4. Refit the clamping disc, nut and tighten. Note: Remove the spindle lock rod.

Fitting the cover plate. Fit the cover plate below the power switch with the screws provided. Fitting the clamp. The clamp fits into the T slots in the sliding table and can be moved to any location to suit the job. The clamp is fully adjustable and is of robust construction.

Fitting the straight-line rip stop The straight line rip stop is fitted at the end of the table and is used in cutting stock that has no straight edges such as ruff-cut planks. The stop is fitted into the T slot and clamped in position with the clamping knob. Fitting the side table/miter gauge. The side table fits to the side of the sliding table and is held in place with a clamp. The clamp is attached to a plate that fits to the side T slot. The vertical location is controlled by 2 eccentric studs that run in the side T slot. The side table Jacking screws must be parallel with the top surface of the sliding table, and this is controlled by 2 jacking screws.

Fitting the side table. 1. Release the clamp and slide the side table onto the sliding table side T slot and clamp in position.

2. Check that the table is level with the top of the sliding table with a straight edge. If the table needs adjustment, loosen the clamp. 3. Loosen the lock nuts on the eccentric studs and rotate with an allen key until the table is level. Reclamp the table and recheck with the straight edge. 4. Readjust if required. Note: Check both ends of the table. 5. Clamp the table and check that it is parallel with the top surface of the sliding table top surface with a straight edge at both ends of the table. If the table needs adjustment, loosen the clamp, adjust the jacking screws, reclamp and recheck with the straight edge. 6. Repeat adjustment until the table is parallel. Note: It is better to do small adjustments rather than large ones. Fitting the miter gauge. The side table has 3 sets of holes that the miter gauge uses. The center hole is used for angular settings, and the 2 outside sets are used for 90-degree settings to suit the job.

Clamping knob

1. Fit the aluminium fence to either set of outside holes and clamp in position with the clamping knobs.

2. Release the 90-degree stop pin by twisting the round knob located under the table until it drops into the slot. The pin is on an eccentric and can be adjusted by loosening the clamp and rotating. 3. Push the extrusion so that it touches the pin and clamp.

Note: When not using the 90 degree stops, pull down and twist the knob so that the pin is lower than the top of the table . Fine-tuning the miter fence. Several methods are acceptable to fine-tune the fence, but we have found that the following is a very practical way to achieve a square panel: 1. Clamp the fence locked at 90 degrees against the stop. 2. Clamp a sheet onto the sliding table and cut a straight edge [edge “A”]. Mark “A”. 3. Move the sheet so that edge “A” is tight against the fence, clamp in position, cut edge “B” and mark “B”. 4. Flip the sheet so that edge “A” is still against the fence, but edge “B” is farthest away from the saw blade. Cut edge “C” and mark “C”. 5. If the sheet is cut square, edge’s B and C should be parallel. Check this by measuring across the width of the sheet at both ends. Note: This method will double the amount of accuracy and any adjustment that is required should be halved. Also the stop is closer to the table than the end of the sheet, so only adjust the stop in very small amounts. Example. You are using a 2 ft x 2 ft sheet and you are out of parallel by 1/16 in, adjust the stop =0,01 in and repeat the cuts. First cut. Second cut.

Move the fence to the other set of holes and repeat the procedure. Fitting the miter gauge for angular cuts. Fit the extrusion to the center hole and the slot. Note: Ensure that the 90-degree pins are in the down position. Move to the required angle and clamp both knobs. Flip stop. The fence has a flip stop that can be moved along the extrusion to suit the job in hand. The extrusion has a built-in scale that can be adjusted once the blade has been fitted. If you change the blade to a different width of blade, the scale will have to be readjusted.

Second extension table. The machine is supplied with a second side table which is fitted and adjusted as earlier detailed.

Note- It has no stops, etc. fitted as it is used for support only.

Main isolation switch.

Electrical connection. Note: the machine is not supplied with an electrical plug, as the type of plug will be dependent on the installation. A qualified electrician must carry out the electrical installation. If a longer cable than that supplied is required, the following wire sizes are recommended. Cable size 10.3 gauge for runs of up to 20 ft. For longer runs up to 50 ft use cable 8-3 gauge. Recommended breaker size is 30 amps. If a longer cable is required it must be terminated in the junction box located inside the machine. Saw blade start switch Machine electrical control switches.

Before starting the machine: 1. Read and understand the instruction manual before operating the saw. 2. If you are still not thoroughly familiar with the operation of the saw, get advice from a qualified person. Emergency 3. Make sure the machine is properly Stop switch stop switch grounded and that the wiring codes are followed. 4. Do not operate the machine while under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medicine or if tired. 5. Always wear eye protection, safety glasses or a safety shield, and hearing protection. 6. Wear a dust mask; longterm exposure to the fine dust created by the saw is not healthy. 7. Remove your tie, rings, watch, and all jewelery. Roll up your sleeves and never wear loose clothing. You do not want anything to get caught in the saw.

8. Make sure that the guards are in place and use them at all times. The guards protect you from coming in contact with the blade. 9. Make sure that the saw blade teeth point in the correct direction. 10. Stop the machine before removing the scrap piece from the table. 11. Always keep your hands and fingers away from the blade. 12. Make sure that you use the proper size and type of blade. 13. Hold the work piece firmly against the table. Do not attempt to saw stock that does not have a flat surface facing down. 14. Use a push stick at the end of a cut. This is the most dangerous time because the cut is complete and the blade is exposed. Push sticks are commercially available. 15. Hold the wood firmly, and feed it into the blade at a moderate speed. 16. Turn off the machine if you have to back the material out of an incompleted or jammed cut. Machine test. Now is the time to test the machine. Note: Never start the main saw motor and the scoring motor at the same time. It will damage the magnetic contactor. Always start the main motor; and when running at full speed, then start the scoring motor. 1. Check that the machine is clear of all tools and other loose objects. 2. Check that all the adjusting and locking handles are tight. 3. Check that there is no blade fitted; it is far safer to test the machine with out a blade fitted. 4. Start the machine by pressing the green start switch. 5. The saw arbor is now turning. 6. Now is the time to check that the safety switch is functioning correctly before you fit a blade. 7. With the machine running [no blade fitted], operate the red stop switch by pressing toward the machine. The motor should have the power removed and slow down. 8. If the safety switch fails to operate correctly, do not use the machine until the fault has been corrected. 9. Start the machine by pressing the green start switch. 10. With the machine running [no blade fitted], operate the red emergency stop switch by pressing toward the machine. The motor should have the power removed and slow down.

11. If the safety switch fails to operate correctly, do not use the machine until the fault has been corrected. 12. Start the machine by pressing the green start switch. 13. Press the green scoring blade switch. 14. With the machine running [no blades fitted], operate the red emergency stop switch by pressing toward the machine. The motor should have the power removed and slow down. 15. If the emergency switch fails to operate correctly, do not use the machine until the fault has been corrected. 16. Start the machine by pressing the green start switch. 17. With the machine running [no blades fitted], open the blade cover. The motor should have the power removed and slow down. 18. If the blade cover switch fails to operate correctly, do not use the machine until the fault has been corrected .Before you cut any wood, read the safety rules at the front of this manual. Electrical control box. Never access the electrical control box with the machine connected to the power. The electrical control box is located below the vertical control handle and contains all the breakers and control components. To access the breaker, etc; remove the screws from the panel and remove the panel. Disconnect the power from the machine before tools are serviced or an attachment is to be fitted or removed. Fit the dust extraction hose. Fit a in dust extraction hose between the machine and your dust extractor. Note: You will need a dust collection system with a minimum of 1,000 cubic feet per minute capacity. The stronger the dust collection, the better, as the machine

is capable of producing a lot of waste.

Vertical movement of the saw blade. The vertical movement of the saw blade is controlled by a handle located on the side of the machine. The vertical movement is locked/unlocked by the knob in the cente of the handwheel. Angular movement of the saw blade

Angular movement of the saw blade is controlled by a hand wheel that is located at the back of the machine. The angular movement is locked/unlocked by a knob in the cente of the hand wheel. Stops are provided at 90 and 45 degrees. The stops come factory-set but should adjustment be required, loosen the lock nut; move the screw either in or out depending on the error to be corrected, and re lock with the lock nut. The stops are located inside the machine on the trunnion. Scoring blade vertical movement. The vertical movement of the scoring blade is controlled by a handle located on the side of the machine.

Lateral lock

Scoring blade lateral movement. In/out [lateral] movement of the scoring blade is achieved with an allen wrench fitted through the hole in the main table. The adjustment is very fine, and takes many turns to adjust the blade. Rip fence. The extrusion can be adjusted to suit the job by loosening the extrusion clamp, sliding the extrusion to the required position and locking the

handle. The lateral movement has two locks. The main lock and fine adjustment lock. With the main lock in the up [unlocked] position, move the fence to the approximate position and lock in position[handle down]. Lock the fine adjustment lock and adjust to the required position with the fine adjustment knob.

The fence position can be determined by looking at the scale through the lens. Miter fence. This has been covered earlier in the manual. Table vertical adjustment. The table is attached to the body of the machine by adjustable studs. The studs support the weight of the table and allow vertical movement. To gain access to the nuts, access panels are provided. The table comes factory-set, but should adjustment be required, below is the procedure: 1. Remove the access panels. 2. Using a straight edge across the width of the sliding table and the main table, check for parallelism. The sliding table should be 0 to 0.004 in higher than the main table. It must also be parallel. 3. Starting with the front studs, lower/lift [depending on the direction of the error] the table with the stud nuts at both ends of the main table. 4. Lift/lower the back of the table with the stud nuts to bring the table parallel. Note: once all the adjustments have been made and the nuts are fully tightened, recheck for vertical and parallel alignment.

Maintenance and troubleshooting. All tools and machines require regular maintenance, and this machine is no exception. This section details the general maintenance and care of your machine. In general, we recommend that you only use a Teflon-based lubricant on the machine. Regular oil attracts dust and dirt, and the Teflon tends to dry and has fewer tendencies to accumulate dirt and sawdust on your machine .We also recommend that you wax the table to help prevent rust. Weekly maintenance. 1. Check that all nuts and bolts are tight 2. Clean the machine and check that the dust hose is clear. Make sure that all moving parts are clean and free from sawdust and dirt. 3. Lubricate all moving parts with a Teflon-based lubricant. 4. Wax the table and all non painted parts. Drive belt. The drive belts should last for many years [depending on the usage] but need to be inspected regularly for cracks, cuts and general wear. If damage is found replace belts. To retension the belts, loosen lock nut. The weight of the motor should put enough tension on the belts. Then tighten the lock nut. The belts come factoryset but they should be checked for tension after about 8 hours of use. The belts could need to be retensioned as they will have bedded into the “V� grooves. Table insert. The table insert [throat plate] is made of a soft material and is designed not to damage the blade should they come in contact. If the blade slot becomes too wide or the insert becomes damaged by the blade, it should be replaced. Bearings. All bearings are sealed for life and do not require any maintenance. If a bearing becomes faulty, replace it. Rust. The table saw is made from steel and cast iron. All non painted surfaces will rust if not protected. It is recommended that the table be coated with wax. All

moving non painted surfaces should be lubricated/protected with a Teflonbased lubricant. Tilt mechanism tight. 1. Check that nothing is jamming the mechanis. 2. Check that the worm gear and screw are clean and lubricated. Vertical mechanism tight. 1. Check that nothing is jamming the mechanism. 2. Check that the worm gear and screw are clean and lubricated. 3. Check that the guide plate is not jamming. Clean and relubricate. Ensure that you clean the whole guide plate by moving the saw arbor to fully up and fully down, cleaning the exposed part of the guide plate. 4. Inspect the guide plate and bearing plate for wear and damage. If damaged or worn, replace. Troubleshooting. Poor cut. 1. Dull blade. Change the blade. 2. Bent tooth. Change the blade. 3. Wrong type of blade for the job. Change the blade. Saw will not start. 1. Check that the start switch is fully depressed. 2. Check that the electrical power cord is plugged into the power outlet. 3. Check that the electrical supply is on [reset the breaker]. 4. With the power disconnected from the machine, check that the wiring in the plug is correct. Check that the rubber insulation is stripped enough and is not causing a bad connection. Check that all the screws are tight. 5. With the power disconnected from the machine, check that the wiring to the machine is correct. Check that the rubber insulation is stripped enough and is not causing a bad connection. Check that all the screws are tight. 6. Check that you have the correct power: 220V not 110V. 7. Check that the ground wire is wired correctly. 8. Check that the blade cover is closed and making contact with the micro switch.

The machine will not stop. This is a very rare occurrence as the machine is designed to be fail-safe. If it should occur and you cannot fix the fault, seek professional assistance. The machine must be disconnected from the power and never run until the fault has been rectified. 1. Stop switch faulty. Replace the stop switch. 2. Internal contactor faulty. Replace the contactor. Motor tries to start but will not turn. 1. With the power disconnected from the machine, try to turn the blade by hand. If the blade will not turn, check the reason for the jamming. A typical reason is wood jamming the blade. 2. Capacitor faulty. Replace the capacitor. 3. Motor faulty. Replace the motor. Motor overheats. The motor is designed to run very hot, but should it overheat, it has an internal terminal overload protector that will shut it down until the motor has cooled down and then it will reset automatically. If the motor overheats, wait until it has cooled down and restart. If the motor shuts down constantly check for the reason. Typical reasons are dull blade, overfeeding the wood, motor cooling fan clogged or faulty, motor cooling fins clogged and excessive ambient temperature. Squeaking noise. 1. Check that the motor cooling fan is not contacting the fan cover. 2. Check the bearings. 3. Check the drive belt. Blade slows down during a cut. 1. Loose drive belt. Retension the belt. 2. Dull blade. Replace the blade or have it resharpened. 3. Feeding the wood too fast. Slow down the feed rate. 4. Insufficient set on the teeth [wood nipping the blade]. Change the blade for a blade with the correct set. 5. Oil or dirt on the drive belt. Clean or replace the drive belts.

6. Fence not aligned correctly. Align fence. Blade overheats. 1. Dull blade. Change the blade or resharpen the blade. 2. Pitch is too small for the depth of cut. Change to a blade with the correct pitch. 4. Wood too hard for the selected blade. Change the blade. Machine vibrates. 1. Machine not level on the floor. Re-level the machine, ensuring that it has no movement. 2. Damaged drive belt. Replace belts. Poor dust collection. 1. Check the capacity of the dust collection system. You need a minim of 1,000 cubic feet per minute at the machine. The stronger the dust collection the better. 2. Check that the dust hose is not blocked. 3. Check that the dust collector is not full. Causes of the blade dulling. 1. Wrong blade for the job. 2. Overfeeding the job. 3. Cutting painted wood or abrasive material.

Pro Series 6' Sliding Panelsaw /Pro Series 9' Sliding Panelsaw All the pro series of panelsaws have the same basic components. There are additional features for the 2 larger saws which are covered in this section of the manual. 9-foot sliding table. The 9-foot sliding table is provided with additional support at both ends of the machine. After fitting the sliding table to the machine and following the alignment procedure detailed earlier, the outer jack screws have to be adjusted. 1. Remove the side panels. 2. Adjust the jacking screws so that they are touching the bottom of the sliding table and taking the weight, but do not overtighten the screws as you could distort the sliding table. 3. Refit the panels.

Additional extension table. The 9 foot sliding table machine is provided with an additional extension table. The table is attached and leveled as per the back extension table as detailed earlier in the manual. This table has no support leg but is supplied with a support rod that is adjustable and must be fitted between the table and the machine as shown.

6' & 9’ Sliding Panelsaw miter fence and support table. The table uses the same system as earlier detailed to hold and adjust the table vertical to the sliding table. The table must be parallel with the top of the sliding table, and this can be adjusted by adjusting the nut on the swing arm.

Fitting the support channel. The support channel is held in place with the clamp knob.

Fitting the fence. The fence is extendable by loosening the clamp and pulling to the required extension. There are 2 holes at the front of the table. The fence is attached to either hole, depending on the job in hand, with the clamp knob. At the other end of the table there are jacking screws and clamp screws. The jacking screws have to be adjusted to hold the fence square. To adjust the fence square, follow the procedure described earlier in the manual. Flip stops.

The flip stop can be adjusted by unlocking and moving is to the required position. Fence scale. Once the fence has been set square, the scale has to be adjusted to zero. Loosen the clamp screw, reposition the scale and reclamp in position. Note: When you change the blade, you should check that the scale is still set at true zero as the blade width could be different. Setting the fence at different angles. The fence can be adjusted for different angles. 1. Release the fence from the clamp screw. 2. Pivot the fence on one of the front holes to the required angle as indicated on the central angle scale. 3. Clamp it in position with the clamp knob located under the angle to the scale.

Push/pull handle. The machine is provided with a push/pull handle. The handle fits into the T slot on the sliding table at a position that is convenient for you.

On/off switches. Additional control switches are provided on the sliding table. When testing the machine, also check the additional switches, using the same procedure as stated earlier in the manual. Swing arm adjustment. The swing arm has an adjustment system at the bottom of the support shaft. The position of the bottom of the shaft can be aligned to ensure that the mitre table is supported parallel with the sliding table during its travel. It is strongly recommended that the screws not be adjusted as the shaft has been adjusted at the factory and no adjustment should be required. If adjustment is required, contact your supplier for advice.

LIMITED WARRANTY New woodworking machines sold by Laguna Tools carry a one-year warranty effective from the date of shipping. Laguna Tools guarantees all new machine sold to be free of manufacturers’ defective workmanship, parts and materials. We will repair or replace, without charge, any parts determined by Laguna Tools, Inc. to be a manufacturer’s defect. We require that the defective item/part be returned to Laguna Tools with the complaint. In the event the item/part is determined to be damaged due to lack of maintenance, cleaning or misuse/abuse, the customer will be responsible for the cost to replace the item/part, plus all related shipping charges. This limited warranty does not apply to natural disasters, acts of terrorism, normal wear and tear, product failure due to lack of maintenance or cleaning, damage caused by accident, neglect, lack of or inadequate dust collection, misuse/abuse or damage caused where repair or alterations have been made or attempted by others.
