The Bermondsey Square Hotel has been described as stylish and chic and ‘the hottest new addition to London’s coolest boutique hotel scene’. Owned by Bespoke Hotels, it has 79 designer bedrooms, including a series of loft rooms overlooking London's skyline. It stands as the centre point of the revitalised square, and was the subject of years of planning and months of preparation.

The Orbis Integra Doorset system was used throughout with its unique, patented, time-saving means of installation. Using highly durable, factory finished metal frames enables them to withstand the normal wear and tear associated with impact damage. Durable yet visually stylish, the package of doors and frames is available in a wide range of finishes and colours, all guaranteed for 10 years.
• Fire doors up to 2 hour in timber and 4 hour in steel • High performance steel and timber doorsets with acoustic performance up to 38RwdB • Timber doors available with veneer finishes with hardwood lippings and glazing beads
Factory fitted Orbis Commercial ironmongery was used with the range of laminated and painted doorsets, and all guest room doors were supplied with integrated VingCard® electronic access control.
• Doorsets which comply with recommendations on clear opening widths for wheelchair access • LRV measurements can be supplied of doors and hardware to provide the necessary contrast for BS 8300 compliance

To add flair to stairway design, Laidlaw’s Handrail system in Brushed Stainless Steel was installed, line side fixed with clear, toughened glass infill panels to maximize use of natural light. The neat detailing around returns is bespoke to the architect’s specification and illustrates the perfect combination of style and functionality.
Handrail & Balustrades Our handrail and balustrade ranges offer a wide range of solutions for external and internal applications • Solid nylon systems and timber handrails are warm to the touch and provide wide scope for colour or finish co-ordination with other building elements such as doors and hardware • Stainless steel systems can be combined with stainless steel, nylon or timber handrails • Structural glazing system with stainless steel, timber or nylon handrails

Orbis Integra is ideal for fast track construction environments such as hotels. Suitable for either stud frame or blockwork walls, the single rebate, 1.5mm thick rolled mild steel head frame and vertical jambs are butt-jointed before being clamped around the wall to provide a rigid assembly with no visible fixings. This cuts installation time by up to 75% and as a second fix operation, risk of damage while services are on site is substantially reduced.

There were several factors which influenced use of Laidlaw systems for this project. The Integra Doorset system offered practical benefits from the perspective of both installation and performance. With doors being such a regular cause of premature repair and replacement in hotels, a system using factory finished metal frames had obvious advantages. The Stainless Steel Handrail system is practical and stylish, enabling the maximum amount of natural light to be brought into stairwells while requiring the minimum of maintenance.
