Cuando se formó los “Preocupados por la Sana Doctrina” al hermano Smith se le pidió publicar un boletín mensual y el nombre La Luz Vespertina se escogió. Fue debido a su participación con La Luz Vespertina que él fue removido de pastor de la iglesia en Colorado Springs. La congregación apoyó a los Smith y su postura en contra de los cambios doctrinales que ocurrieron en la asamblea del 1991. El hermano Smith trabajó como editor de La Luz Vespertina durante doce años desde noviembre del 1992 hasta el 2004. Estimados lectores: Stephen Edward Smith nació en el occidente de Tejas en un pueblo llamado Monahans el 25 de agosto del 1953. Su padre trabajó en los yacimientos petrolíferos y su familia vivió en Nuevo México y Tejas, finalmente estableciéndose en Midland donde Stephen terminó la secundaria. Steve terminó la secundaria a la edad de diecisiete. Asistió al Campamento Occidental de Jóvenes en Tejas con su mejor amigo ese verano y Dios lo salvó, santificó y llenó del Espíritu Santo. Menos de un año después aceptó su llamado a predicar. Cuando se asesoró con su Supervisor de Estado concerniente a cómo iniciar su ministerio fue urgido a asistir primeramente al IEB. Por lo tanto, él viajó a California para su primer año de IEB. Fue allí donde conoció a la que sería su esposa, Vicki LeAnnette Wilda. Se casaron tres días después de la Navidad en el mes de diciembre del 1973. Steve sirvió como secretario estatal del AMIP en Idaho y comenzó a pastorear en el pueblo de Lewiston, Idaho a la edad de veintiuno. Allí pastorearon dos años. Después de ser seleccionado como Supervisor General en esa misma Asamblea General los Smith vendieron su casa en Virginia y se mudaron a Cleveland, Tennessee, donde han vivido desde entonces. Tienen la dicha de diez nietos. Jonathan y Emilee Smith tienen cinco varones: Nathan, Caleb, Luke, Ezekiel, Linus y dos hembras – Abbie y Lydia. Brother Smith ended up serving as Assistant Editor of The Evening Light for twelve years – from November of 1992 through 2004. Following the Solemn Assembly, at the November 1993 General Assembly Brother Smith was appointed Regional Overseer to six states – Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, Nevada, California and Utah. After a couple of years a new pastor was brought in to Colorado Springs and the Smiths moved to Howard, Colorado, to pastor the Salida church. The Region was reformed and the states of California, Arizona and Nevada were removed, and New
Dear Readers: Stephen Edward Smith was born in the west Texas town of Monahans on August 25, 1953. His dad worked in the oil fields and the family lived in New Mexico and Texas, settling finally in Midland where Steve graduated high school at the age of seventeen. He went with his best friend to the east Texas Youth Camp that summer and got saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost. Less than a year later he accepted his call to preach. When he went to his State Overseer for counsel on how to begin his ministry he was urged to go to BTI first of all. So off he went to California for his First Term of BTI. It was there he met his wife-to-be, Vicki LeAnnette Wilda. They were married three days after Christmas in December 1973. Steve served as State CPMA secretary in Idaho and began pastoring in Lewiston, Idaho, at the age of twenty-one. They pastored there for two years. It was during this time their first child, Jonathan Ray was born. Then they were moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, where they pastored for one year, during which time their second child, Rebekah LeAnnette, was born. Becki was just seven days old when they headed out in an old Champion motorhome to serve as National/Regional Evangelists. God supplied every need during the two years they spent evangelizing in small churches throughout the west and midwest. They were required to be in twenty-one nights of revival every month and had to spend at least eight
Mexico was added. They lived in Howard for nine years. After a few years of pastoring Salida and working as Regional Overseer, Brother Smith felt led to step out and serve as full time Overseer. In 2004 the Smiths were appointed to six new states – the six states of only perhaps eight in the contiguous United States they had never been to: Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Massachusetts. They immediately fell in love with the people of that region, and God directed them to the perfect house to remodel and live in. It didn’t last long, however. Just a year and a half later Brother Smith was chosen at the Overseer’s Meeting of 2006, following Brother Pruitt’s resignation, to serve as Interim General Overseer. Following his selection as General Overseer at the General Assembly of that same year, the Smiths sold their Virginia home and moved to Cleveland, Tennessee, where they have lived ever since. They are blessed with ten grandchildren. Jonathan and Emilee Smith have five boys – Nathan, Caleb, Luke Ezekiel, Linus and two girls – Abbie and Lydia. James and Rebekah Horne have three children – Katie, Josiah, and Sam. As Proverbs 17:6 declares, “Children’s children are the crown of old men.”

Although there was substantial growth spiritually and numerically, they felt led to move to Colorado after only one year. They began their twenty-four years of ministry in Colorado by pastoring four years at Pueblo. During those four years there were twenty-seven new members added to the Church, and God was blessing tremendously. Then, the State Overseer sent them to pastor in Colorado

CONVENCIÓN DE DISTRITO CA NORTE 2015. Sábado 4, de Abril 2015 Se llevó acabo con segundo año consecutivo la convención de distrito norte de California. Una asistencia total de 59 personas. La asistencia fue mayor que la del año pasado, tuvimos la des fortuna de no contar con la presencia de nuestro supervisor regional el Obispo Serafín Pimentel por causas mayores. El tema de la convención fue “Preguntad por las Senda Antiguas y Andad por El” Jeremías 16:6. Tuvimos la bendición de contar con la presencia del Supervisor de Distrito CA Sur el Ministro José Osoy, la Coordinadora Regional de la Escuela Dominical Johana Jovel y la Coordinadora Regional de la Banda Misionera Femenil el ministro Noemí Solís. Las Iglesias que se hicieron presente son las siguientes: Fresno, Fresno East, Tulare, Lindsay, Santa Barbara y Oxnard. Los campos blancos de Antioch y Bakersfield. NORTHERN CA DISTRICT CONVENTION 2015 It was just the second consecutive year with the convention Northern District of California . A total attendance of 59 people . Si regresamos a Génesis 4:26 vemos que la descendencia de Seth, substituto de Abel dice: “…Entonces comenzaron los hombres a llamarse del nombre de Jehová.” ¡El nombre! Cuán importante es el nombre. Al menos a mi no me gustaría que de buenas a primeras me llamaran de otro nombre por muy bonito que fuera el nombre. Este nombre no sería el registrado en un papel oficial del gobierno. Los profetas por el Espíritu Santo le llamaron Sion, Hephzibah (mi delicia es ella); Beulah (casado) (Lee Jeremías 8:19; Isaías 62:4). Isaías profetizó que la boca de Jehová nombrara (la boca de Jehová era el Señor Jesucristo). Juan 1:1 “En el principio era el verbo y el verbo era con Dios y el verbo era Dios”. El significado de verbo es palabra, así que la palabra de Dios (verbo) aquí en la tierra era el Señor Jesucristo (Juan 14:10-11). Isaías 62:2 dice “entonces verán las gentes tu justicia y todos los reyes tu gloria; y te será puesto un nombre nuevo que la boca de Jehová nombrara”. No cabe duda que estos primeros cinco versículos nos hablan de Sion el nombre Profético del pueblo de Dios, pero dice que le seria puesto un nombre nuevo que la boca de Jehová nombraría. No cabe duda que en Mateo 16:1619 son el cumplimiento de Isaías 62:1-5 cuando le dice a Sion que su hijos (nacidos) se casarían (unirían) y les seria puesto un nombre nuevo que la boca de Jehová nombraría. Cuando el Señor Jesucristo le dice a Pedro “Sobre esta piedra edificare mi iglesia”, la palabra “mi” gramaticalmente hablando es un pronombre posesivo. ¿Como se define un pronombre posesivo? Gramaticalmente un pronombre posesivo va en lugar del nombre, cuando digo “este objeto es mío” cuando las personas vean ese objeto y saben que es mío dirán que este objeto es de mi propiedad. Así cuando el Señor expreso “MI IGLESIA” quiere decir que La Iglesia es de Dios (Cristo Jesús era el nombre terreno). La iglesia es de Dios, El la compró con su propia sangre (1 Pedro 1:18-19 y 1 Corintios 6:20). Así que, si Dios encarnado se entrego y compro su iglesia sería una injusticia monumental nombrar la iglesia de otro nombre y no el nombre del dueño que la compro. La iglesia salió de la obscuridad de acuerdo a Isaías 60:1 en este lado de la edad obscura y como señales contundentes: el avión Isaías 60:8 y en los campos del bosque Salmos 132:6. The name! How important is the name. At least I do not liked to be called another name other than my name no matter how nice that name is. That name would not be official recorded name in a government document. The prophets by the Holy Spirit called her Zion, Hephzibah (my delight is in it), Beulah (married) (Read Jeremiah 8:19, Isaiah 62:4). Isaiah prophesied that the mouth of the Lord appointed (the mouth of the Lord was the Lord Jesus Christ.) John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The meaning of the verb is a word, so God’s word (verb) here on earth was the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:10-11). Isaiah 62:2 says, “And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.” No doubt that these first five verses speak of Zion the name Prophetic the people of God, but said it would put a new name that the mouth of the Lord would appoint. No doubt in Matthew 16:16-19 are the fulfillment of Isaiah 62:1-5 when he tells Zion his children (born) would marry (unite) and I would put a new name that the mouth of the Lord would appoint. When Jesus says to Peter “Upon this rock I will build my church”, the word “my” grammatically speaking it is a possessive pronoun. How do you define a possessive pronoun? Grammatically is a possessive pronoun instead of the name, when I say “this object is mine” when people see that object and know it’s mine they will say that object is my property. So when the Lord express “MY CHURCH” means that The Church of God (Christ Jesus was the name). The church is from God, He purchased with His own blood (1 Peter 1:18-19 and 1 Corinthians 6:20). So if God incarnate was delivered and bought his church would be a monumental injustice to name the church of another name and not the name of the owner who bought it. The church came out of the darkness according to Isaiah 60:1 in this side of the dark ages and a strong signs: the plane Isaiah 60:8 and the fields of the woods in Psalm 132:6. On the morning of June 13, 1903 in fulfillment of these prophecies, the brother Tomlinson after having a time of prayer on the mountain went down the mountain having the un-

Según escritos del historiador C. T. Davidson en su tomo #1 de la obra titulada Upon This Rock. Posteriormente los hermanos nombraron como su pastor al Hno. A.J. Tomlinson. Tomó el nombre de “la Iglesia de Dios” y así estuvo por 19 años. En las asambleas de 1922, introdujeron el que se nombraran 70 ancianos y 12 que tipificaban los 70 que le dijo Dios a Moisés que nombrara (Números 11:16 y 17) y los 70 y 12 que el Señor mando a predicar (Lucas 10:1), solo que estos 70 nombrados por Moisés no lo mandaban a él. Tampoco los 70 que él Señor mando a predicar. Estos70 y 12 nombrados en esta asamblea del 1922 quisieron tomar autoridad para tomar decisiones sobre todo asunto de la iglesia y también sobre el Supervisor General lo cual esto no era Teocracia. Cuando el hermano A.J.Tomlinson regreso al sistema anterior a estos hermanos no les gusto esa decisión así que se dividieron. Las personas que se dividieron acusaron al hermano A.J.Tomlinson de mal versación de dinero por más de 10,000.00 dólares. Por esta situación se fueron a la corte en donde el hermano A.J.Tomlinson salió exonerado de esa falsa acusación. Para el año 1923 se dividió el grupo dirigido por las personas que acusaron falsamente al hermano A.J.Tomlinson. Desde ese momento el grupo que se quedo con el hermano A.J.Tomlinson ya no pudo seguir con el nombre de “Iglesia de Dios”. La Iglesia de Dios dirigido por el hermano A.J. Tomlinson recibió un apellido de “la Profecía” y los que se dividieron modificaron su nombre quedando así el nombre de “Iglesia de Dios” en oculto. (Upon This Rock by C.T. Davidson) En 1990 y años anteriores, se levantó una política en contra del hermano M.A. Tomlinson segundo Supervisor General. Estas personas decían que el Supervisor General M.A. Tomlinson ya era muy anciano y que no veía y aun se atrevieron a decir que su mente y razón ya no estaba bien para que continuara como líder de la Iglesia de Dios de la Profecía. Para el año 1990 el hermano M.A.Tomlinson cansando de la presiones de los Supervisores, teniendo la visión Bíblica les dijo que nombraran al nuevo supervisor tal como Dios hizo con Moisés y Josué (Deuteronomio 31:14 y Deuteronomio 34:9). Pero todos los Obispos (Supervisores de Estado y Nacionales) dijeron que primero renunciara para que dejara el puesto vacante y después ellos escogerían al nuevo Supervisor General. Esto no era lo correcto. Estos Obispos querían hacer lo que la iglesia hizo cuando escogió al sucesor de Judas, pero este caso era diferente ya que el Supervisor General aun vivía y a él le correspondía entregar el cargo al nuevo Supervisor General tal como hizo Moisés con Josué. Quizás usted diga ¿Y esto qué? Pues simplemente que estos hermanos se desviaron de la teocracia. El hermano M.A.Tomlinson hizo como ellos querían y el renuncio. Luego cada Supervisor de Estado/ Nación (Obispos) dio su voto y los que no estuvieron de acuerdo tuvieron que someterse. Se olvidaron de la oración y el ayuno para pedir la guianza del Espíritu Santo y lo que hicieron fue votar democráticamente. Esto no es Teocracia. Un pequeño grupo espero tres años para ver si Dios hacia un cambio (Yo espere 20 años para ver si regresaban a la Teocracia). En 1993 este grupo que busco en ayuno y oración la dirección de Dios fue rechazado por la Iglesia de Dios de la Profecía. Obviamente este pequeño grupo no podía continuar predicando la verdad con el nombre de la iglesia de Dios de la Profecía y

Tomlinson of bad diversion of money for more than $10,000.00 dollars. For this situation they went to court where brother A.J. Tomlinson was exempt from this false accusation. For the year 1923, that group led by the people who falsely accused brother A.J. Tomlinson divided. Since then, the group that stayed with brother A.J. Tomlinson could not continue with the name “Church of God.” The Church of God led by brother A.J. Tomlinson used a surname of “Prophecy” and the ones that were divided modify their name called only “Church of God” in secret. (Upon This Rock by C. T. Davidson) In 1990 and previous years, rose a policy against brother M.A. Tomlinson second General Overseer. These people said that the General Overseer M.A. Tomlinson was very old and cannot see and even dared to say that his mind and reason was not right to continue as leader of the Church of God of Prophecy. In 1990 the brother M.A. Tomlinson tired of the Overseers’ pressures, having the Biblical view told them to name the new overseer as God did with Moses and Joshua (Deuteronomy 31:14 and Deuteronomy 34:9). But all the bishops (State and National Overseers) said that first let the position vacancy and then they will choose the new General Overseer. This was not the right way. These bishops wanted to do what the church did when they chose a successor to Judas, but in this case was different due to the General Supervisor was still alive and he needed to deliver the position to the new General Overseer as Moses did with Joshua. Perhaps you might say So What? Well, simply that these brothers diverted from the theocracy. The brother M.A. Tomlinson did as they wanted and pronounce the position vacant. Then each State / National Overseers (Bishops) gave their vote and those who disagreed had to undergo. They forgot the prayer and fasting to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit and what they did was vote democratically. This is not Theocracy. A small group waited three years to see if God will do a change (I waited 20 years to see if they returned to Theocracy). In 1993 this group that was fasting and praying seeking God’s direction was rejected by the Church of God of Prophecy. Obviously this small group could not continue to preach the truth under the name of the Church of God of Prophecy and curiously could register with the name “The Church of God.” In 1923 the church was unable to register with that name before the government, and now in

Sábado 3 y 6 de Junio 2015 Se llevó acabo con segundo año consecutivo la Confraternidad de Damas para California e Idaho. Una asistencia total de 77 personas ser reunieron en Oxnard, CA. La asistencia fue mayor que la del año pasado, una asistencia de 40 personas en Idaho. El tema fue “La Fidelidad de la Paloma.” Las Iglesias que se hicieron presente son las siguientes para California Oxnard y Sacramento, para Idaho llegaron representantes de Nampa, Caldwell, Boise y Garden City. Saturday June 3 & 6 2015 It was just the second consecutive year the WMB Fellowship was held in California and Idaho. A total attendance of 77 people gathered in Oxnard , CA. The Attendance was higher than last year, an attendance of 40 people in Idaho. The theme was “ The Fidelity of the Dove “ Churches that were present were as follows: for CA Oxnard and Sacramento, and for ID representatives from Nampa, Caldwell, Boise & Garden City

Obispo Oscar Pimentel Seleccionado como Supervisor Interino Conforme a las instrucciones de la Asamblea General de La Iglesia de Dios, los Supervisores de Estado/Región y Nacionales se reunieron el 3-7 de julio de 2015 a fin de elegir al Supervisor Interino para que ocupe el cargo hasta la selección de un Supervisor General durante la próxima Asamblea. Después de varios días de adoración, oración y deliberación, los Supervisores unánimemente escogieron al Obispo Oscar Pimentel para que sirva como Supervisor Interino. Que oremos todos por Hermano Pimentel mientras llena este papel. Se les anima a cada miembro de la Iglesia a orar y ayunar por la próxima Asamblea General. La Asamblea de este año está programada para el 18-23 de agosto de 2015. Oremos para que podamos conocer la mente de Dios para la selección del Supervisor General. Que se pueda declarar durante y despu&eeacute;s de la Asamblea que el Cuerpo de Cristo está solemnemente y jubilosamente de acuerdo que “...ha parecido bien al Espíritu Santo, y á nosotros...” (Hechos 15:28) y se goce en que hemos hallado la perfecta voluntad de Dios para La Iglesia de Dios.

as Interim
Overseer
As instructed by the General Assembly of The Church of God, the State/Regional and National Overseers met together July 3-7, 2015 to choose an Interim Overseer to serve until the selection of a General Overseer is made at the upcoming Assembly. After several days of worship, prayer, and deliberation, the Overseers unanimously selected Bishop Oscar Pimentel to serve as Interim Overseer. Let us all pray for Brother Pimentel as he serves Christ and His Church in this role. All members of the Church are encouraged to spend time praying and fasting for the upcoming General Assembly. This year’s Assembly is scheduled for August 18-23, 2015. Let us each pray that, when we gather together, we can find the mind of God for the selection of General Overseer. Let it be said during and after the Assembly that the Body of Christ solemnly and joyfully agrees,”...it seemed good to the Holy Ghost and us...” (Acts 15:28) in that we have found God’s perfect will for The Church of God.
